Lessons Learned & Recommendations

✓✓ Keep it simple! You only need 2-3 objectives. (Presidents can have 5 to cover all 5 Strategic Planning Goals)

✓✓ Base your objectives on what you are doing to reach the targets you set.

✓✓ Departmental meetings help the process and keep the discussion about priorities going through the year.

✓✓ Make it meaningful! The process helps to evaluate and document if the strategies you are implementing are working and delivering results.

Annual Cycle of Effectiveness (ACE)

The Lone Star College 2015–2020 Strategic Plan is founded upon five strategic goals:

1. Student Success

2. Academic & Workforce Program Quality

3. Financial Responsibility & Accountability

4. Culture

5. Partnerships

Lone Star College-Tomball supports the Lone Star College 2015–2020 Strategic Plan through five related college strategies:

1. Achieve student success through Tomball 2020 scholarship, award, offering and student strategies.

2. Achieve academic and workforce program quality by developing a framework for supporting and growing LSC-Tomball workforce programs.

3. Achieve financial wellness through transparent processes and collaborative efforts to increase funding and steward existing resources.

4. Create and sustain a compelling and empowering college culture.

5. Build relationships with key organizations to collectively impact student, college and community success.

Each leadership unit at Lone Star College-Tomball supports at least one of the five college strategies through the identification, implementation and assessment of unit objectives that are connected to and are an extension of LSC strategic objectives. Taken in total, all of the LSC-Tomball college strategies and the Lone Star College strategic goals will be realized.
