NAPERVILLE RIVERWALKDowntown Naperville630.848.5000 www.NapervilleParks.orgEnjoy miles of walkway on the Naperville Riverwalk. The Riverwalk was built by residents in 1981 to commemorate Naperville’s 150th Anniversary. It

follows the DuPage River through downtown Naperville and features covered bridges, gazebos, and playgrounds. You will find monuments with the names of Naperville’s old farm families as well as the distinctive shepherd’s crook light poles, sculptures and flowers along the paths. www.NapervilleRiverwalk.comAdjacent to the Riverwalk is a former quarry known today as

Centennial Beach. Naperville’s historic beach has been enjoyed by residents and visitors alike since 1931. Amenities include space for picnicking, zero-depth water entry up to depths of 15’, a sand beach, water play features,

diving board, slide, sand volleyball courts and concession stand. Centennial Beach is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day with daily and season passes available. www.CentennialBeach.orgIf you are not looking to get wet, enjoy the Paddleboat Quarry and Fishing Pier along the Riverwalk. The Paddleboat Quarry is open all non-school days spring through fall. Paddleboats can be rented for 20 or 40 minute rides. www.NapervilleParks.orgRotary Hill is the site of many special events year-round such as the Last Fling and Millennium Carillon concerts. The hill is also popular in the winter months as a favorite sledding spot, or in the warmer months to lay on a blanket or have a picnic. The Millennium Carillon is located at the base of Rotary Hill and was built to celebrate the arrival of the third millennium. Rising 153 feet above the Riverwalk, it is one of only nine carillons world-wide spanning a full six octaves. Experience a guided tour to see the inside of this magnificent instrument, and catch a beautiful view of the City. Music selections are played automatically on the bells at 12pm, 4pm, and 7pm daily. Weekly hour-long recitals are performed on Tuesday evenings at 7pm during the summer. There are weekly 30-minute recitals on Saturday and Sunday, April -December (see annual events for schedule). www.Naperville-Carillon.org The Riverwalk Amphitheater offers free programs, community events and performances and is also popular rentable space for outdoor weddings. Along the Amphitheater the new Millennium Wall features inscriptions on bronze plaques commemorating donors. Fredenhagen Park is a gateway to the east extension of the Riverwalk. The park was named in honor of Walter and Grace Fredenhagen by their children. The Exchange Club Memories Fountain is surrounded by commemorative bricks and stones with messages including personal milestones, celebration of loved ones and even invitations of marriage. Enjoy the park benches, canopied picnic tables, gazebo, and covered bridge in this picturesque park along the Riverwalk. The Shanower Memorial is inspired by Naval Commander Dan Shanower, a Naperville native who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on America. Dedicated on September 11, 2003, the memorial is nestled between the DuPage River and the Municipal Center along the Riverwalk.
