The Millennium Carillon is located at the base of Rotary Hill and was built to celebrate the arrival of the third millennium. Rising 153 feet above the Riverwalk, it is one of only nine carillons world-wide spanning a full six octaves. Experience a guided tour to see the inside of this magnificent instrument, and catch a beautiful view of the City. Music selections are played automatically on the bells at 12pm, 4pm, and 7pm daily. Weekly hour-long recitals are performed on Tuesday evenings at 7pm during the summer. Along the Amphitheater the new Millennium Wall features inscriptions on bronze plaques commemorating donors. Fredenhagen Park is a gateway to the east extension of the Riverwalk. The park was named in honor of Walter and Grace Fredenhagen by their children. The Exchange Club Memories Fountain is surrounded by commemorative bricks and stones with messages including personal milestones, celebration of loved ones and even invitations of marriage. Enjoy the park benches, canopied picnic tables, gazebo, and covered bridge in this picturesque park along the Riverwalk. The Shanower Memorial is inspired by Naval Commander Dan Shanower, a Naperville native who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on America. Dedicated on September 11, 2003, the memorial is nestled between the DuPage River and the Municipal Center along the Riverwalk.
