Participants will be able to do the following (within the realm of their Club Sports programs): • Recognize the importance of risk management •  Identify possible risks that club members are partaking in • Develop strategies for proactivity

Defining Risk Management

The practice of identifying and analyzing loss exposures and taking steps to minimize the

financial impact of the risks they impose International Risk Management Institute INC.

Importance of Risk Management

Possible Topics (related to Risk Management) Traditional • Medical Emergencies • Weather/Natural Disasters • Fire • Hosting Events • Travel • Field Surfaces • Waivers/Insurance

Non-Traditional • Finance • Hazing • Campus Culture • Sexual Assault • Unique Populations

How do we minimize risk? •  Identify threats • Assess vulnerable parties (Club Sports in this case) • Determine the risk • Develop strategies for reducing risk •  Implement plans • Evaluate successes • Adjust as necessary

Activity • Break into groups • Each group will be given a topic • How do you address this risk at your institution? • What other ideas could improve the response to the issue? • Vote best strategy for addressing the problem
