• GLEAN decisions sent to students on April 29

• Student decisions due to GLEAN by May 13

(We must have minimum of six strong participates in order for GLEAN to go to JAPAN

• Fundraising letters (50+) mailed, if applicable, by May 20

• Half of tuition due by May 27

Determine if/ how you could receive school credit for your GLEAN research by May 27• Fundraising donations due by June 17

• Final tuition payment due by June 17

Required pre-trip workshop dates (GLEAN Ross office and Skype)

o Saturday, June 4, 201611am-1, PST (parents of participants invited to attend,

parents complete forms)

o Saturday, June 11, 11am-1, PST (participants only)

o Saturday, June 18, 11am-1, PST (participants only)

Required post-trip workshop to finalize project

o Saturday, July 23 (1.5 hours individual time w/ GLEAN: Skype to edit project)

Sunday, July 31, 1 pm PST (Final project due; no exceptions!)

• Three recommendation letters (teachers, other adults who know you well...no parent

6. GLEAN expeditions bring young people to remote and special areas of the world where they

meet interesting people and spend time exploring a topic of choice, primarily through

interviewing and observing others and participating in community activities. All of these can be

wonderful experiences, but this type of trip also has its challenges: being far from home, eatingunfamiliar foods, experiencing extreme forms of weather, being with a small group for an

extended period of time, and not having the conveniences of home. How do you deal with

unforeseen challenges that arise? Give an example of a time when life was difficult for you. What

you did to cope, survive, or thrive at that time?
