About NJTL Tennis Summer CampsSince 2001, Tennis Memphis has offered high quality, affordable summer camp programs to children in Memphis each year. As a USTA Foundation supported NJTL chapter, Tennis Memphis offers camps which strive to implement the ideals of the late Arthur Ashe by providing programming with a strong focus on mentorship and the importance of education and of tennis as a lifetime sport. 70% of campers are first time tennis players and our goal is to provide 100% of our campers a fun and educational experience which inspires a life time love of the game.

About Tennis Memphis Tennis Memphis is a 501 c 3 nonprofit organization whose mission is “to build a better community and enhance lives through tennis and education”. In keeping with its mission Tennis Memphis provides an array of impactful youth programs year round, including Junior Development, Bellevue Tennis Center Tennis and Tutoring (TnT), USTA Junior Team Tennis, USTA Tournaments and Play Days and outreach programs. Tennis Memphis also partners with local groups such as the Grizzlies Foundation, Memphis Tennis Association, Shelby County Schools, and the Boys and Girls Club of Memphis, to offer quality afterschool tennis and educational programming. In addition, Tennis Memphis manages (7) seven public tennis centers for the City of Memphis: Bellevue, Eldon Roark/Whitehaven, Frayser, Leftwich, Raleigh, Wolbrecht and Wooddale Tennis Centers.

The 2016 NJTL Tennis Summer Camps are packed with instruction, drills, games, individual and team competition, and FUN! Designed for beginner to intermediate players, campers learn tennis fundamentals, scoring, rules, and sportsmanship. The camp incorporates the USTA Developmental Pathway for junior tennis, including age appropriate sized courts, racquets, and tennis balls ( red, orange, green and yellow). Players will develop and progress through a dynamic and structured instructional pathway tailored for their respective skill levels and ages. Maximum 8 to 1 student to instructor ratio. In conjunction with tennis instruction, campers will take part in brief daily NJTL Life Skills lessons. Tennis racquets, equipment, balls, and water will be provided. Campers may bring their own racquet, towel, snack, and water. Periodic breaks will be taken. *New this year* Extended and expanded programming! Camp is now offered 5 days a week, Monday-Friday, from 8am-12pm and every camper will participate in Junior Team Tennis match play and games, which will enhance and develop the skills learned during camp.

Camp Overview

• 18th Annual Arthur Ashe Essay Contest • Jamboree, Saturday, July 23 • Tournament of Champions, July 19-23These activities are optional and are offered for no extra fee.

USTA Junior Team Tennis is partnering with Tennis Summer Camps in Memphis!

Team Match play and games for all levels wiill be offered a minimum two days per week during camp at each camp location.

WEATHER POLICY

WHY TENNIS? For social, health, & psychological Benefits

NJTL Summer Camp is a weather-dependent camp. In case of inclement weather, parents will be notified by 7:00 AM the morning of camp if camp will be held that day. Camp closings will be made on a site-by-site basis. If inclement weather develops during camp hours, parents will be notified and staff will be on site to remain with campers as they are picked up.
