Thank you Seniors!!!

Every one of our senior cross country athletes has given great things to our local

programs. Many have seen success and improvement both as athletes and as young

adults. We wish these Seniors the best in the next chapter of their lives and hope to

see them continuing to run for many more years!

Thank you to the coaches for submitting this great information from your athletes!

Alex Michael, Edgewood High School A 4 year EHS runner for track and xc under Coach Mobley, Alex began running in Jr. High and has been

sporting his trademark hair this past season. He put in 500 miles over the 13-week summer period going into his sophomore year, and increased that to 600 miles going into his junior year. He ran a PR last

season at Regionals at BNL with 16:49 and despite injury, hopes to improve on that this year.

Began running in Jr. High.

His favorite thing about cross country is the team! (and 300m repeats;)

I would like to thank “My mom and Uncle Curtis, and all of my coaches for their support.”

College Plans: Alex is interested in running in college and studying law enforcement at Vincennes or IN State.

Fav quote: "Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up, it knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It

doesn't matter whether you're the lion or a gazelle-when the sun comes up, you'd better be running" Christopher McDougall, Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen

Quote from Coach Noirot: “Running is a part of Alex. He is a valuable link on our team. Through a mid-season injury this year, it was a challenge for him not to run. He puts a smile on our faces and gives our

team some ‘sauce’.”

Quote from Coach Mobley: “Man, Alex (a.k.a. Sauce Boss) has been such a blast to work with. Seeing him come in as a freshman, at the back of the pack, and just work his tail off to get to the front, has inspired me. The level of

commitment he has shown to make that improvement has often pushed his teammates (and myself) to continue to strive for better. And his willingness to keep coming back at workouts and races has been a strength, for sure. “

Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute where she may continue her running career.

Celine began running: 6th grade in jr high!

Her favorite memory of cross country are the pasta dinners

She would like to thank “My parents for pushing me and to Coach Mobley for knowing I could be better than I thought I could.’

Quote from Coach Noirot: “Celine has had a great career at Edgewood. I hope she continues to run and

be involved in the sport. I could see her getting other girls together one day to maybe even train for a half marathon!’

Quote from Coach Mobley: “Celine made the decision to stick with XC when she was a sophomore, and our team

and whole program are better for it. She has brought such an incredible work ethic and garners the respect of her teammates (as the ‘team mom’), and the utmost respect from me for how she competes and goes about her

preparation. It has been a thrill to see her improve these past few years, and will be exciting to see her continue her path into life after high school.”

College Plans: University of Evansville to study Public Relations with an emphasis in Athletics

She would like to thank…. Coach Mobley and Celine Hornick for encouraging me to join the team! (and

helping me meet what turned out to be some of my favorite people!)

She really fun to be around. The girls have a blast having her on the team and never fail to cheer her on!”

Edgewood), Denver is a strong addition to the program as a first year xc runner under Coach Mobley.

Quote from Coach T :“ It’s admirable that Denver chose to join xc his Senior year and get out there compete right

there with guys who’ve been in it since they were in middle school. I love the fact he has a wrester’s mentality

and determination and knows to put in the hard work not only for himself but his team.”

Quote from Coach Mobley: I loved getting the chance to work with Denver in track, and when he said he would come out

for XC, I was ecstatic. He is a coachable, high character young man, whom any coach would love to have on their team.

And his willingness to step out of his comfort zone (2 track laps!!) is inspiring.

to that question is yes….There are so many variables in XC, and the only on you control is you.”

might have done for Tanner and Bloomington North’s success. It has truly been a pleasure to coach Tanner Kase.”
