Martinsville, Henry County and surrounding areas. It is a geographic

affiliate of Community Foundation of Western Virginia, Inc.

Martinsville Area Community Foundation is a member of the national

Council of Foundations, the Southeastern Council on Foundation and

the Martinsville Henry County Chamber of Commerce.

SCHOLARSHIP RECEPTION The Foundation held its inaugural

Scholarship Reception in May. Over

$270,000 in scholarships were

awarded to 64 deserving young

men and women from our area.

CongratulationsRecipients!

Women In Philanthropy (WIP) recognizes and celebrates the important role women play in

philanthropy through annual large impact grant-making. This member-driven group has

awarded grants totaling over $200,000 to local non-profit organizations. The Women

In Philanthropy Endowment Fund that was created to provide a stable, perpetual source of

community funding has exceeded $20,000.

LARGE IMPACT GRANTS

Grant recipients recognized in fiscal year 2016 at the annual luncheon were

as follows:

$14,000 was awarded to FOCUS on Youth/CASA to alleviate

budget restraints and to extend services to 30 additional children in our community.

The mission of FOCUS is to recruit and train community volunteers to advocate for the

best interests of abused and neglected children involved in court proceedings.

$16,000 was awarded to Grace Network to assist clients

in financial crisis and to continue to develop its referral program

through a computer data system that can communicate with other

agencies. The mission of Grace is to be a 1st stop resource center for

residents of MHC for essential life needs and referrals.

This program honors donors who provide annual support of $500 or more to be split between our Martinsville Area Unrestricted Fund and our Administrative Fund. This enables us to address a wide variety of local needs and provides us with the support necessary to carry out our daily work in the community.
