Aug 1st 2nd, 3rd : 7:00 am Glenview ($20 Greens fees)
Tryouts will consist of 18-hole, stroke play rounds with a possible cut
being made after day 1. Golfers are responsible for paying green fees, wearing appropriate golf clothing, and bringing needed water/food each day. Glenview has 3 nine-hole courses, so it is advised that players get familiar with all tree before trying out. Practice rounds can be arranged by calling the course at 771-1747 (Glenview.)
It is highly recommended for all golfers to have had tournament experience and be familiar with USGA rules of play before trying out. All varsity level golfers must have played in at least 5 approved off-season tournaments and are expected to bring summer scorecards to tryouts. Call me if you have any questions! Go East! COACH COMBS:
East Golf Fundraiser & Four Bridges Golf Academy Disclosure
*WE want all of your support and participation in the Lakota East
Golf Scramble…..but please do so because you are helping build
East Golf, and junior golf. Supporting our fundraiser doesn’t help
your son make a team, just provides more funds to allow us to
spend on our growing program. We couldn’t do what we do
without community support.
** I (Coach Combs) have been instructing golf for over 18 years,
most recently as the Director/Lead instructor at the FOUR
BRIDGE GOLF ACADEMY. I currently teach many different
groups; from 3-5 year olds, to a rookie ladies group, to several
collegiate golfers. I also work with players from other area schools
(Moeller, Fenwick, X, Sycamore, West & Mason) and states
(Indiana) as part of my role with Four Bridges.
***Please do not think that by signing up for lessons with the Four
Bridges Golf Academy, or with me, that you are going to get
special treatment for making an East Golf Team. A few of our
East Golfers take lessons from other area instructors, and with
good results! There are many area instructors who are top notch
and who I would recommend to help you with your games.

GET TOGETHER WITH YOUR TEAM : )
Fall 2015 Post Season Meeting
1. Purpose…..evaluate, make goals, focus on improvement 2. Good Seasons…..are you satisfied? 3. TALENT & Depth is here to win GMC & State Titles 4. BEWARE of COMPLACENCY---being content 5. Set INDIVIDUAL GOALS (now & future) 6. Set TEAM GOALS for next year 7. TEAM….play together, learn together and push each other.
Physical:
o Must get stronger, more fit this offseason o Must listen and be honest about your faults, or how you need to
practice. LET ME know if you need help with this.. o GET BETTER TECHNICALLY with fundamentals of SWING….many great
instructors in area to help with this. Don’t feel pressure to take lessons from me!
o Must carve out time for golf----all year long…. Winter and spring practice is as important as summer.
o Multiple sports are great but you must give time to GOLF. o Must learn to practice in a disciplined, mature way. o Must play tournament golf to get better at playing under pressure!
IF YOU WANT to play on VARSITY A TEAM—you will need to have a vast tourney
Mental Side:
1. Practice being confident, positive on course. Do this in your everyday life! Make being positive and confident a HABIT.
2. Must not confuse anger, whining as showing that you care or are tough. Being tough is accepting the challenges and trying your best to overcome!
3. Must practice target focus, visualization of shots and course management to be able to perform it in competition.
FOUR BRIDGES
Golf Academy
2016 Junior Tournament & College Resource Guide
Dear Golfers,
I hope you are getting anxious to get out and play some golf! Remember, the best way to
prepare mentally and physically for your Junior High, High School or Collegiate Career is to play
in as many competitive environments as possible. I have listed some tournaments below that
are appropriate for the JR.HIGH golfers to the Varsity and Elite (college) golfer. There are
plenty of other tournaments to play in so don’t feel like you have to stick to only this list to
choose from. ~~AJGA, Golfweek, PGA JR Series and USGA Qualifiers are considered advanced
events.
~~Remember, your decisions about what to play in start with: personal golf goals, family
finances, family schedules & course/tourney preferences.
COLLEGE It is never too early to be thinking about college. If you are even considering playing in college,
I would contact 10-20 schools of interest via email and let them know who you are and that you
are interested. NCAA coaches can’t contact you (underclassmen) unless you contact them first.
A great resource for parents and players looking to play in college….Ping College Golf
Guide: http://www.collegegolf.com/collegegolf/
My tips for golfers wanting to play in college are:
o Find a school that you are happy with outside of your sport so that if your golf
doesn’t work out, you are still happy with the college.
o Play collegiate golf for the many rich experiences that it offers---NOT for a
scholarship or to make college cheaper. Most NCAA D.1 Colleges only have 4.5
scholarships to split up—so money is hard to come by.
Start visiting colleges now and get your GOLF resumes together ASAP!
H.S. TRYOUTS
The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA.org) has set August 1st as the first day that
High Schools can have tryouts for 2016. Most area Div. 1 schools will start that day. (Lakota
East Golf Tryouts will be Aug. 1st thru 3rd at Glenview Golf Course.) If you have any questions,
please contact me at [email protected], or call my cell (513) 543-6520.
GOOD LUCK,
Jeff Combs
