Junior Livestock Information The Junior Livestock Auction is held in the
Livestock Arena at the back of the fairgrounds-Enter the Fairgrounds at the O Street Entrance
and follow the road to the rear parking area.
The Junior Livestock Auction at the Contra Costa County Fair was developed to educate junior ex-hibitors in livestock marketing. The animals sold at the auction have been raised and shown by youth of Contra Costa County. They have been judged by qualified judges and have been deter-mined to be market ready. What does supporting the auction mean? By supporting the auction you’re contributing to the youth of Contra Costa County. How does the Auction work? When you arrive at the auction you will first go to the registration window at the Red Barn Livestock Office, there you will place your credit card or a check on file (for personal accounts only) and receive your buyer’s number and a sale order catalog with instructions. Next take a seat in the stands. While you are waiting for the auction to start look over the brochure and pick a few animals to bid on. You might want to pick based on size, or if you know a particular exhibitor and how much you want to spend, it’s your choice. Once the auction starts and the animal you want to bid on comes into the ring you will raise your buyer’s number to bid. You can stop bidding at any time. If you are the successful bidder a runner will bring you a bill of sale, for your signature and instruc-tions. You will note on the bill of sale where you want the animal sent for processing. Or if you want to consign the animal for re-sale (not keep the meat for your own use) you will note that on the bill of sale At the end of the auction proceed to the livestock office to check out. Payment is required the day of the auction for personal ac-counts. Cash, Check, Visa or Mastercard are ac-cepted. Any lots not paid for will be processed through the credit cards or checks held on file at registration. Business accounts that remain un-paid will be sent an invoice. Balance will be due June 30, 2016.
**NOTE: Exhibitors do not get paid until the buyer has paid
for their purchase (s) in FULL.**
