Debuting in January 2005, it was an instant success, receiving critical acclaim for its fresh approach and over 500 advertising pages in its first issue. Later that year, SANDOW introduced its second brand, Luxe Interiors + Design, a high-end regional shelter magazine in Colorado, which has since expanded to 14 markets across the US.

Between 2008 and 2011, SANDOW acquired several complementary businesses across luxury and design, including Interior Design magazine, the design industry’s “bible”; Worth, a publication for high-net-worth individuals and leading wealth advisors; Material ConneXion, the world’s largest materials library and consultancy; and Culture + Commerce, a creative management agency representing design talent, such as Philippe Starck, Kravitz Design (owned by Lenny Kravitz), Marcel Wanders and Yves Béhar.

In 2012, SANDOW purchased iconic Southern California retail brand Fred Segal. Since then, Fred Segal has opened an anchor store in the Los Angeles International Airport, as well as a flagship location in Tokyo. In May 2014, SANDOW brought in Evolution Media Partners (a joint venture between Hollywood talent agency CAA and private equity firm TPG) as an equity partner, and hired retail veteran Paul Blum as CEO of the brand, to reinvent the retail experience and further Fred Segal’s global expansion.

Mr. Sandow, who values counterintuitive thinking and creativity, is passionate about developing new brands and businesses that defy traditional rules, from launching TestTube, the first beauty sampling subscription program in 2006, to creating BeautyDNA, a revolutionary online beauty product-matching service. Fueled by a proprietary questionnaire and nearly two years of research, BeautyDNA is designed to match

His expertise and extensive knowledge of the media industry were instrumental in orchestrating The Knot’s explosive growth and ultimate IPO in 2000.

A serial entrepreneur, Mr. Sandow started his first business, as a freshman at the University of Miami.
