Sus orígenes se remontan a 1985 con la creación de la empresa Gestión de Proyectos y Obras.

Después de un periodo inversor que nos ha llevado a implantarnos en países como USA, Brasil, Colombia y Perú, el año 2016 ha sido el de la consolidación de toda esta expansión. A la incorporación de SISTRAN al grupo GPO en 2012, le siguieron las de 2IT (Ingeniería de Instalaciones y Trenes) en 2014 y la de SSC (Sam Schwartz Consulting) en 2015,

siguiendo las directrices de nuestro plan estratégico para diversificar nuestro negocio, tanto en mercados geográficos, como en los servicios que prestamos a nuestros clientes. Todo este crecimiento se ha visto consolidado durante este último año en el que también hemos dejado sentadas las bases de nuestro futuro.

After an investment period which has led to our establishment in countries such as the USA, Brazil, Colombia and Peru, the year 2016 has been one of consolidation of this expansion. The incorporation of SISTRAN to GPO group in 2012, succeeded by 2IT (Facilities and Railway Engineering) in 2014 and SSC (Sam Schwartz Consulting) in 2015, following

the guidelines of our strategic plan to diversify our business, both geographically and in the services we provide our customers. All this growth was solidified during the last year in which we have also laid the foundations for our future.

Estas bases pasan por el acuerdo al que hemos llegado con Dar Group, séptimo grupo mundial en servicios de ingeniería y líder en mercados como USA, Oriente Medio y África. La entrada de Dar Group en nuestro accionariado, materializada en los primeros meses del 2017, supone una alianza estratégica para GPO y la apertura de nuevos mercados y clientes a los que poder ofrecer nuestros servicios. Estamos seguros de que la incorporación de un socio como Dar, junto con las bases que hemos establecido los últimos años, nos permitirán crecer de forma estable.

Durante 2016, el grupo ha continuado participando en proyectos punteros que ayudan al desarrollo

y al bienestar de la sociedad en los países donde operamos. Los trabajos realizados en la prolongación de la línea de metro de la Segunda Avenida de New York, el plan de movilidad urbana y transporte en Guarujá (Brasil), el nuevo aeropuerto internacional Simón Bolívar en Santa Marta (Colombia), o la prolongación de los Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat de Catalunya en Sabadell (España) son algunos ejemplos de los que nos sentimos orgullosos.

Después de todo este bagaje, encaramos el 2017 con energías renovadas y con el convencimiento de que las alianzas que hemos establecido nos permitirán afrontar con éxito nuevos retos.

These bases go through the agreement we have reached with Dar Group, the seventh worldwide group in engineering services and market leader in countries such as the USA and the Middle East and in Africa. The entry of Dar Group into our shareholders, materialized in the first months of 2017, represents a strategic alliance for GPO and the opening of new markets and customers to which we can offer our services. We are certain that the incorporation of a partner like Dar Group, together with the bases we have established in the last years, will allow us to grow steadily.

During 2016, the group continued to participate in

leading projects that benefited the development and the well-being of society in countries where we operate. The work carried out in the extension of New York’s Second Avenue subway line, the urban mobility and transportation plan in Guarujá (Brazil), Simón Bolívar new international airport in Santa Marta (Colombia), or the extention of the railways of the Generalitat de Catalunya in Sabadell (Spain) are some examples of which we are proud.

After all this background, we face 2017 with renewed strength and with the conviction that the alliances we have established will allow us to face new challenges successfully.

La entrada de Dar Group en el accionariado de GPO, fraguada durante el año 2016 y materializada en el primer semestre de 2017, ha supuesto un impulso importante para nuestra compañía, que pasa a formar parte del séptimo grupo de ingeniería mundial líder en mercados como USA, Oriente Medio y África.

La especialización en consultoría ferroviaria es uno de los aspectos importantes a desarrollar por nuestro grupo dentro de esta nueva estructura a la que nos hemos incorporado. En este sentido, durante el año 2016 dimos un paso muy importante al obtener, en GPO Ingeniería de Sistemas, la Acreditación para actuar como Evaluador Independiente de Seguridad (ISA), en temas de Seguridad Ferroviaria, de acuerdo con los criterios de la norma UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17020:2012. Esta acreditación nos convierte en la única empresa privada española certificada en cinco subsistemas: control - mando y señalización, energía, infraestructura, mantenimiento y material rodante; y nos consolida como una empresa de referencia en la realización de contratos ISA y RAMS en el sector ferroviario por todo el mundo, como los que estamos realizando en el tranvía de Ouargla en Argelia, la línea 2 del metro de Lima en Perú, o el tren – tranvía de la Bahía de Cádiz en España.

Respecto a los mercados en los que estamos presentes como grupo, la estrategia ha venido marcada por el crecimiento en USA y la consolidación de nuestros equipos en Brasil

y Colombia. Sam Schwartz sigue siendo un referente en USA en temas de movilidad y, gracias a contratos tan importantes como el del metro de la Segunda Avenida o los accesos al aeropuerto de La Guardia de New York, Sam Schwartz ha experimentado un notable crecimiento en todas sus áreas de negocio.

Especialmente orgullosos estamos este año de que se haya puesto en marcha la prolongación del ferrocarril en Sabadell (España), una infraestructura que ha recibido el premio a la mejor obra pública del 2016 en Catalunya y donde GPO ha estado trabajando ininterrumpidamente los últimos nueve años, proyectando y dirigiendo las obras de los más de 5 km de nuevo trazado y cinco estaciones que pertenecen a una línea ferroviaria que mueve más de 60 millones de pasajeros al año. También hemos podido concluir proyectos muy importantes como el del Aeropuerto Internacional Simón Bolívar en santa Marta (Colombia), o el plan de movilidad urbana de Guarujá (Brasil), e iniciar otros en países en los que hasta ahora no operábamos, como Eslovaquia o Egipto.

Ahora ya toca pensar en el 2017. El crecimiento en los mercados en los que estamos presentes va a ser uno de nuestros mayores objetivos, sin dejar de pensar en aquellos proyectos donde creemos que podemos aportar nuestra especialización y experiencia. USA, América Latina y Europa serán los mercados base de nuestras operaciones, buscando las sinergias que nuestra reciente integración en Dar Group sin duda nos generará.

The arrival of Dar Group into GPO, set up during the year 2016 and materialized in the first half of 2017, has meant an important momentum for our company which is now part of the seventh group of world-leading engineering companies in markets like the USA and the Middle East and in Africa.

The specialization in railway consultancy is one of the important aspects to be developed by our group within this new structure which we have incorporated. In In this sense, during 2016 we took a very important step in obtaining, in GPO Ingeniería de Sistemas, the certification to act as Independent Security Assessor (ISA), in matters of railway safety, according to the criteria of the standard UNE-EN ISO / IEC 17020: 2012. This accreditation makes us the only Spanish private company certified in five subsystems: control-command and signalling Systems, energy, infrastructure, maintenance and rolling stock and also consolidates us as a reference in the execution of ISA contracts and RAMS in the railway sector all over the world, as we are carrying out in the tramway line of Ouargla in Algeria, line 2 of the Lima subway in Peru, or the train/tram of the Bay of Cadiz in Spain.

Regarding the markets we are present in as a group, the strategy has been marked by growth in the USA and the consolidation of our teams in Brazil and Colombia. Sam Schwartz is still a reference in the USA on mobility issues and, thanks to contracts as important as the Second Avenue

Metro Line or the accesses to La Guardia airport in New York, Sam Schwartz has experienced a remarkable growth in all its business areas.

This year we are especially proud of the commissioning of the extension of the railway station in Sabadell (Spain), an infrastructure which has received the award for the best public work of 2016 in Catalonia and where GPO has been working uninterruptedly for the last nine years, designing and directing the works of more than 5 km of new route and five stations belonging to a railway line which moves over 60 million passengers a year. We have also been able to complete very important projects such as the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Santa Marta (Colombia), or the urban mobility plan of Guarujá (Brazil), and have started others in countries in which we had not yet operated, like Slovakia or Egypt.

Now it’s time to think about 2017. Growth in the markets in which we are present will be one of our major objectives, without forgetting about those projects where we believe that we can bring our expertise and experience. The USA, Latin America and Europe will be the base markets of our operations, seeking the synergies that our recent integration in Dar Group will certainly generate for us.

• Banco de Alimentos. Operación Kilo. GPO Group participa desde 2011 con Banco de Alimentos, y promueve la Operación Kilo destinada a recoger alimentos no perecederos. Este año, estos alimentos se han destinado tanto al Banco de Alimentos de Madrid, como a comedores sociales en Barcelona.

• Campaña Antigripal. A través de Unión de Mútuas, anualmente se promueve la campaña antigripal, estableciendo en las oficinas de GPO un equipo especializado.

• Flu Fighters Campaign. With the collaboration of Unión de Mútuas, GPO promotes the Flu Fighters Campaign yearly, establishing a medical team in the GPO offices.

• Aura Foundation. Since 2012, GPO Group collaborates with Aura Foundation, social entity devoted to social and employment inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities. GPO promotes the entity’s activities (draws, excursions, etc.) and voluntary donations.

GPO Ingeniería y Arquitectura, filial española de GPO Group, desarrolló la Dirección Facultativa (Dirección de Obra, Dirección de Ejecución, y Coordinación de Seguridad y Salud) de una nave logística en Sant Esteve Sesrovires, Barcelona, para la multinacional de ropa y equipamiento deportivo Decathlon.

La nave, con una superficie construida de 40.317 m2, ubicados en una parcela de 59.271 m2, de los cuales 18.954 m2 fueron urbanizados, es una nave rectangular de 134 por 285 m con dos volúmenes adosados en su fachada posterior.

Cuenta con el sello ‘Breeam Good‘, y se ha construido de acuerdo con una política de sostenibilidad, que permite obtener unos ahorros del 53% en el consumo de energía y de un 50% de consumo de agua. Dispone también de sistemas de iluminación LED, control de encendido y consumo, y sistema de protección contra incendios según la normativa española y americana.

El edificio fue diseñado y construido específicamente según las indicaciones de Decathlon. Con esta nueva instalación, Decathlon concentra la actividad de dos centros: uno ubicado en la misma localidad y el otro en Vilafranca del Penedés, también en Barcelona, consiguiendo facilitar la recepción y distribución de mercancías en la zona de influencia para Cataluña, Valencia, Baleares y Aragón.

GPO Ingeniería y Arquitectura, Spanish subsidiary of GPO Group, developed the Construction Supervision of a logistics warehouse in Sant Esteve Sesrovires, Barcelona, for the multinational clothing and sports equipment company Decathlon.

The warehouse, with a constructed area of 40,317 m2, located on a plot of 59,271 m2, of which 18,954 m2 were built, is a rectangular warehouse 134 by 285 metres with two volumes contiguous on its posterior facade.

It has the ‘Breeam Good’ label, and has been built in accordance with a policy of sustainability, which allows savings of 53% in energy consumption and

50% in water consumption. It also has LED lighting, ignition and consumption control, and fire protection systems according to the Spanish and American regulations.

The building was designed and built specifically as indicated by Decathlon. With this new installation, Decathlon concentrates the activity of two centres: one located in the same location and the other in Vilafranca del Penedés, also in Barcelona, facilitating the reception and distribution of goods in the area of influence for Catalonia, Valencia, Baleares and Aragon.

Prolongación de la línea de Metro de la Segunda Avenida de Nueva York

Sam Schwartz, filial norteamericana de GPO Group líder en planificación del transporte e ingeniería de tráfico, prestó servicios a la comunidad, gestión de licencias, gestión del tráfico, y servicios de inspección, diseño e ingeniería de tráfico para el proyecto de prolongación de la línea de Metro de la Segunda Avenida de Nueva York, uno de los proyectos de ingeniería de tráfico más importantes de los últimos 50 años.

El metro de la Segunda Avenida ha supuesto una inversión de 4.000 millones de dólares y cubre un trayecto de 2,4 km, que engloba tres nuevas estaciones: 72 St, 86 St y 96 St de la línea Q. Se prevé que esta ampliación dará servicio a unas 200.000 personas diarias y permitirá aligerar un 13% las líneas 4, 5 y 6, que circulan paralelas a ésta por la Avenida Lexington. El proyecto inicial contempla una segunda fase de ampliación que llegará hasta Harlem, prevista para un futuro.

Junto con la MTACC (Metropolitan Transportation Authority Capital Construction), Sam Schwartz diseñó y actualmente opera el Centro de Información Comunitaria del Metro de la Segunda Avenida (CIC), un centro de comunicaciones a disposición de las necesidades de los usuarios de la línea de metro. Dicho centro actúa como canal para promover el interés y reconocimiento de lo que muchos neoyorquinos consideran una maravilla de la ingeniería que corre bajo sus pies.

Extension of New York’s Second Avenue Metro Line

Sam Schwartz, North American subsidiary of GPO Group, leader in transportation planning and traffic engineering, provided Community Outreach, Permitting Services Maintenance, Protection of Traffic, and Inspection Services, Design and Traffic Engineering for the project to extend the Second Avenue Metro Line in New York, one of the major traffic engineering projects of the last 50 years.

The Second Avenue subway has meant an investment of US $ 4 billion and covers a journey of 2.4 km, which includes three new stations: 72 St, 86 St and 96 St of the Q line. It is expected that this extension will serve 200,000 people daily and will allow to relieve by 13% lines 4, 5 and 6, which run parallel to it on Lexington Avenue. The initial project contemplates a second phase of enlargement that will reach Harlem, for the future.

Together with the MTACC (Metropolitan Transportation Authority Capital Construction), Sam Schwartz designed and currently operates the Second Avenue Metro Community Information Center (CIC), a communications centre which provides the needs of the metro line users. This centre acts as a channel to promote the interest and recognition of, what many New Yorkers consider, a wonder of engineering that runs under their feet.

GPO Colombia, filial de GPO Group, desarrolló el Proyecto Constructivo del Aeropuerto Internacional Simón Bolívar en Santa Marta, Colombia. Tanto el aeropuerto como la ciudad son un importante destino turístico de la zona de El Caribe, ya que recibe vuelos nacionales e internacionales provenientes de Panamá, Perú, Ecuador, Venezuela, Costa Rica, y Estados Unidos, entre otros.

El alcance del contrato, a cargo de Aeropuertos de Oriente, fue la redacción del Proyecto Constructivo (Fase III) del nuevo aeropuerto, cuyo objeto fue la definición de las características de la ampliación de la nueva terminal (torre de control, nueva bodega para instalaciones y handling).

Los terrenos concesionados en Santa Marta ocupan un área total de 50.386 m2. Ante el crecimiento de la demanda fue necesaria una revisión de los estudios existentes con el fin de adaptar los diseños a las nuevas condiciones del trafico, lo que implicó un aumento importante de las áreas de las diferentes unidades operativas y, consecuentemente, de las zonas de apoyo, servicios y circulaciones de la terminal.

Se estudiaron diferentes alternativas para la nueva terminal, lo que evidenció las limitaciones que suponía mantener la estructura existente sobre la solución definitiva, dadas las características constructivas de la terminal. Por ello, se contempló la demolición por fases de la antigua terminal y la construcción de un edificio de nueva planta.

GPO Colombia, a subsidiary of GPO Group, developed the Detailed Design of the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Santa Marta, Colombia. Both the airport and the city are important destinations of the Caribbean area, as it receives national and international flights from Panama, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Costa Rica, and the United States, among others.

The scope of the contract, carried out by Aeropuertos de Oriente, was the drafting of the Detailed Design (IIIº phase) of the new airport, the purpose of which was defining the characteristics of the extension of the new terminal (control tower, new warehouse for facilities and handling).

The concessioned land in Santa Marta occupies a total area of 50,386 m2. Faced with the growth of demand, a review of the studies to adapt the designs to the new ones was in order in order to adapt the design to the new traffic conditions which in turn lead to a drastic area increase of the various operative units and, consequently, the support, services and circulation of the terminal.

Different alternatives were examined for the new terminal, which highlighted the limitations which maintaining the existing structure would imply against the definitive solution given the constructive characteristics of the terminal. For this reason, the phaseal demolition of the old terminal and the construction of a new building was considered.

GPO Ingeniería y Arquitectura, filial española de GPO Group, realizó la Dirección de las Obras y el Proyecto Modificado de la prolongación de la línea de Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya en Sabadell (operadora ferroviaria propiedad del Gobierno autonómico de Cataluña).

Gracias a la prolongación de la Línea Barcelona - Vallés, se ha mejorado la conexión ferroviaria entre las dos comarcas más pobladas de la región, el Barcelonés y el Vallés Occidental, con 2,5 millones y 1 millón de habitantes, respectivamente.

Con una longitud total de 38 km aproximadamente, la línea Barcelona – Vallés es utilizada anualmente por 3,7 millones de viajeros y conecta el centro de la ciudad de Barcelona con Sabadell y Terrassa.

La actuación completa, con un presupuesto de 430 millones de euros, en la que GPO sigue trabajando, tiene una longitud total de 5.247 m. Incluye un doble túnel con dos tubos de 6 m de diámetro y 2.912 m de longitud, cinco nuevas estaciones subterráneas y aproximadamente 2.000 m de túnel artificial. La obra comprende también las nuevas cocheras y la cola de maniobras, ambas estructuras con una longitud de 300 m.

GPO Ingeniería y Arquitectura, Spanish subsidiary of GPO Group, carried out the works of the modified project management project for the extension of the railway line of the Generalitat de Catalunya in Sabadell (a railway operator owned by the autonomous government of Catalonia).

Thanks to the extension of the Barcelona – Vallés line, the railway connection between the two most populated counties in the region, Barcelonés and Vallés Occidental, with 2.5 million and 1 million inhabitants respectively, has been improved.

With a total length of approximately 38 km, the Barcelona - Vallés line is used annually by 3.7 million travellers and connects Barcelona’s city centre with Sabadell and Terrassa.

The full operation, with a budget of 430 million Euros, in which GPO continues to work, has a total length of 5,247 m. It includes a double tunnel with two tubes of 6 m in diameter and 2,912 m of length, five new underground stations and approximately 2,000 m of artificial tunnel. The work also includes the new depots and shunting area, both structures with a length of 300 m.

Todas las ciudades brasileñas con una población superior a 20.000 habitantes tienen la obligación de realizar un Plan de Movilidad Urbana, como dicta la Ley nº 12.587/2012 que instituye la Política Nacional de Movilidad Urbana - PNMU. A través de un contrato firmado con el Ayuntamiento del Municipio de Guarujá, Sistran Engenharia desarrolló el Plan de Movilidad Urbana y de Transporte del municipio - PlanMOB Guarujá.

Guarujá está ubicada en la Isla de Santo Amaro, región metropolitana de Baixada Santista, con una población que alcanza los 315.000 habitantes. En Guarujá se encuentra la terminal de contenedores del Puerto de Santos, que implica un intenso movimiento logístico, y que está en conflicto con la ocupación residencial, la cual podría agravarse con la previsión de su expansión a partir de la construcción de Retroporto.

Otra característica, presente en la investigación Origen/Destino de Baixada Santista (2007), es que el 55% de los viajes diarios se realizan con medios no motorizados (a pie y en bicicleta).

El Plan de Movilidad desarrollado para Guarujá se elaboró a partir del diagnóstico de las condiciones actuales de movilidad en el municipio. También se realizó un programa de investigación de transporte y tráfico, que complementaba la investigación de O/D RMBS (Región Metropolitana de Baixada Santista) de 2011 con datos de Smart Steps.

El estudio dio como resultado la proposición de medidas, proyectos y acciones relacionadas con los siguientes aspectos: sistemas viarios y de circulación; transporte colectivo; transporte de cargas; peatones; bicicletas; aspectos medio ambientales y urbanísticos; organización institucional y participación social.

All Brazilian cities whose population is over 20,000 inhabitants are required to implement the Urban Mobility Plan, by Law No. 12,587 / 2012, establishing the National Policy of Urban Mobility - PNMU. Through the agreement, signed with the Municipality of Guarujá, Sistran Engenharia developed the Urban Mobility and Transport Plan, MOB, of the municipality of Guarujá.

Guarujá is located on the island of Santo Amaro, in the Metropolitan Region of Baixada Santista, and has a population of the order of 315,000 inhabitants. In its territory it is located the containers terminal of the Port of Santos, which involves intense logistical movement in conflict with the resident population, which may be aggravated by the expected expansion through the construction of Retroporto.

Another characteristic, pointed out in the Origin / Destination research of Baixada Santista (2007), is that 55% of journeys are made using non-motorized vehicles (on foot and bicycle).

The Mobility Plan developed for Guarujá started with the diagnosis of the actual mobility conditions in the municipality and the implementation of a program of transportation and traffic surveys that involved the complementation of the O / D research of the RMBS (Metropolitan Region of Baixada Santista) of 2011 with Smart Steps data.

Barcelona cuenta ya con su primer jardín elevado, un singular parque de seis hectáreas y 800 metros de longitud que cubre las vías ferroviarias que llegan hasta la Estación de Sants, y que algunos comparan con el High Line Park de Nueva York. GPO fue adjudicataria por parte de BIMSA (empresa pública del Ayuntamiento de Barcelona) de la Dirección de Obra y Asistencia Técnica en Arquitectura para el Proyecto Ejecutivo de la cobertura y urbanización del acceso ferroviario.

El jardín elevado de Sants forma parte de un proyecto urbanístico que busca eliminar la barrera urbana que suponía el paso de las vías del tren a

través de la ciudad de Barcelona. En lugar de soterrar la infraestructura, se opta por su cubrimiento con un edificio-contenedor, en cuya cubierta se desarrollan los jardines. Este espacio longitudinal y elevado permite un paseo con unas fantásticas vistas de la ciudad condal.

El jardín se transita a la altura de un segundo o tercer piso, a 12 metros de la calzada en algunos tramos. Se expande por sus accesos laterales, ahí donde la trama urbana lo permite, formando unos taludes que vienen a ser sus anclajes en la ciudad. Los usuarios disponen de un paseo con más de un ambiente, que contribuye además a urbanizar su entorno, junto a las escaleras y ascensores de acceso, o mediante algún incipiente jardín vertical en las fachadas colindantes.

Convertido en un gran espacio verde, la cobertura incluye también la Estación de Mercat Nou de la Línea 1 del Metro de Barcelona, una de las pocas estaciones en Barcelona que se encuentra en un paso elevado. GPO se encargó de la remodelación integral de la estación, a través de una estructura en celosía de hormigón acristalada que acoge en su cubierta el parque elevado, y ubica el vestíbulo debajo de las vías, lo que convierte a esta estación en edificio y puente ferroviario a la vez.

Sants High Line Park

Barcelona already has its first high line park, a unique park of six hectares and 800 meters of longitude that covers railway lines which reach Sants Station, and that some have compared with High Line Park in New York. GPO was awarded by BIMSA (public company owned by Barcelona City Council) of the Construction Supervision and Architecture technical assistance of the Detailed Design for the covering and urban planning of the railway access to the Sants station.

Sants High Line Park is part of a project that seeks to eliminate the urban barrier delineated by the passage of the train tracks through the city of Barcelona. Instead of burying the infrastructure, it was opted for its coverage with a container building, on whose roof the gardens were developed. This longitudinal and raised space allows for a walk with fantastic views of Barcelona.

The park is placed at the height of a second or third floor, 12 meters from the road in some sections. It expands through its lateral accesses, where allowed by the urban fabric, forming slopes that become the anchors to the city. The users dispose of a space with more than one environment, which also contributes to the urbanization of its surroundings together with stairs and access lifts, or through some incipient vertical garden on the adjoining facades.

Converted into a large green space, the covering also includes the Mercat Nou Station of the Line 1 of Barcelona Metro, one of the few stations in Barcelona which is elevated. GPO was in charge of the integral remodelling of the station, through a lattice structure of glazed concrete that welcomes on its roof the raised park and places the lobby below the rails, which makes this station a building and a railway bridge at the same time.
