Annual enrollment checklist

Before you enroll for 2017 benefits, it’s a smart move to learn about the plans that will be available to you next year. Simply visit our pre-enrollment website, myCignaplans.com, and enter the Open Enrollment ID and Open Enrollment Password shown in your Cigna 2017 Enrollment Guide, which you will receive in your IP Annual Health Care Enrollment Packet. Or, call the pre-enrollment hotline at 1.800.401.4041 for assistance.

When evaluating which medical plan may be right for you in 2017:

• Consider your health history and how your situation might change. For example, do you tend to visit the doctor a lot, or are you planning to have major surgery next year?

• Think about how much you spend on health care costs annually, including doctor visits and prescriptions. You can access your medical expense history quickly and easily by logging in to your myCigna.com account.

• Determine if a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) makes sense for you. FSAs allow you to use tax-free money to help pay for medical expenses, dependent care, and dental and vision expenses.

Will you get new iD cards for 2017?

If you are enrolling for benefits for the first time. You will receive your cards in the mail by late December.

If you are already enrolled in International Paper’s medical and/or dental plans. You’ll continue to use your current ID cards in 2017.

Looking to Avoid the Flu? A Flu Vaccine can Help!

The flu vaccine is an effective way to help protect yourself from the flu. You can get it at convenient locations, like your doctor’s office or pharmacy. Best of all, it’s covered 100% under your medical plan’s preventive care services, which means no out-of-pocket cost to you.*

* Average savings for general health panel based on Cigna Claim Data: DOS July 2013 - June 2014. Actual costs/savings will vary.

* Brighter features may vary by dentist. Brighter Score and appointment scheduling features are provided through Brighter, Inc., an independent company. These and other dentist directory features are for educational purposes only and should not be the sole basis for decision-making. They are not a guarantee of the quality of care that will be provided to individual patients and you should consider all relevant factors when selecting a dentist. The dentists who participate in the Cigna network are independent practitioners solely responsible for the treatment provided to their patients. They are not agents of Cigna.

* Not all preventive care services are covered. For example, immunizations for travel are generally not covered. See your plan materials for details.

FOODs THAT cOnTAin GLUTen

Gluten is a protein found naturally in wheat, rye and barley. Foods made with these ingredients include:

• Breads • Cereals • Cookies and crackers• Cakes and pies• Pasta

• Beer• Tortillas • Salad dressings• Sauces and

gravies

Gluten-free diets have become quite popular – even with those who don’t have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity.

Celiac disease vs. gluten sensitivityPeople with celiac disease often experience symptoms such as diarrhea, stomach pain, skin rashes and fatigue. Those who are sensitive to gluten may experience gas, stomach aches and nausea. Both types of individuals can often be successfully treated with a gluten-free diet.

Who is going gluten-free today?

• Those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity – as well as their family members and friends

• Those who wish to lose weight, boost energy or improve their health

Have you Gone Gluten-Free?

Thinking of going gluten-free? Take note:

Since gluten-free diets may fall short in fiber and other key nutrients, those who choose to go gluten-free should be sure to eat plenty of high-fiber fruits and vegetables as well as foods rich in vitamins and minerals. Eating more fruits and vegetables instead of processed foods while on a gluten-free diet may also help with weight loss.
