From Melissa Lewis, DSOL President 2015-2016The 2015-2016 DSOL year has flown by but we are proud to announce that through your hard work and support, we raised over $773,000! Those funds go directly to the Dallas Symphony to support their Education and Outreach programs. All of our fundraisers have been exceptional this year. From the first Salon Series chaired by Elizabeth Rois-Men-dez in the fall through our fabulous Fashion Notes this spring, thank you all so much for supporting our events!

I especially want to thank Dixie Marshall, Allison Brodnax and Margaret LaRocca for planning an exceptional Party of Note at Perry’s Steakhouse and Grill in May. We were treated to an excellent three course steak dinner with wine parings and a performance by DSO violinists Bruce Wittrig and Daphne Volle. Patrons got to know the musicians on a personal basis and got to experience a sampling of the programs they perform for Symphony YES! in our schools. It was so special to actually experience how our fundraising impacts our local youth. Special thanks go to Sue John and Bettina Hennessey for a lovely Encore Luncheon held at Brook Hollow Coun-try Club. The tables were so special and the food was excellent. I can’t think of a nicer way to celebrate the 2015-2016 year and to officially hand over the reins to my dear friend Sandy Secor!

Our final event was our Second Annual Fashion Notes Luncheon. Co-chairs Sharon Ballew and Mari Epperson did an outstanding job with the event this year. We were blessed to have Cathy and Michael Haynes as our Hon-orary Chairs. Their input and support helped this year’s event nearly double the revenue from the previous year. We also welcomed our new corporate sponsor - Veritex Community Bank. Many thanks to Veritex’s Darlene Ellison for her support and dedication to the DSOL!

I had a fabulous year as President of the DSOL. It was truly an honor to work with and get to know so many of our incredible members. Now for the really fun part - I get to cheer on Sandy and her 2016-2017 board from the side-lines!
