Clinton  Rice

Clinton RIce, a resident of Richmond California started taking classes at the stride center in July 2014. He was 27 years of age. Although he had completed high school, he had no college training and was working at a job making $12.78 per hour. Clinton wanted more for his life and decided to put his best efforts into the Stride Center’s program. Utilizing all of the resources available at the Stride Center and not allowing anything to stop him, Clinton embarked on his new career.

Clinton like many young men, had many personal challenges to overcome while attending the Stride Center. But allowing himself to completely embrace and use the skills he learned at the Stride Center, Clinton was able to push through the program. In addition to taking courses at Stride Clinton was offered a paid internship at Reliatech, Stride’s social venture, where computers are refurbished and distributed back into the community at low cost. This internship allowed him to get much of the hands-on experience he needed to launch his career.

The social, professional and technical skills he gained at Stride allowed him to land a position as a Network Technician with the County of Alameda. He earns $20.00 per hour and works full time. He is also now considering continuing his education by enrolling in the IT program at a local college. Clinton is CompTiA A+ certified, CompTiA Network+ certified, CompTiA Security+ certified and also has obtained through The Stride Center his Cisco Certified Network Associate in Routing and Switching (CCNA).
