Welcome to the 25th Anniversary of Cap Tex Tri!

Since 1991, the Capitol of Texas Triathlon has become a fixture in the multisport spotlight – not only in central Texas, but also among the other 10 races in the national Life Time Tri Series. CapTex is undoubtedly one of the most popular triathlons in the country.

During our 25th Anniversary, that tradition continues.

New this year, we offer both AquaBike and Duathlon race options! Additionally, this year CapTex joins four other events that comprise the prestigious Texas Triathlon Series. Athletes who complete or volunteer at each of the five local events qualify for the can’t-miss, end of season Finisher Party. Learn more at texastriseries.com

We are excited to bring you what we hope will be Austin’s best weekend of triathlon, whether you are a first timer or you’re returning for another ride. We can’t wait.

Before Race Day approaches, please take time to read through this Athlete Guide for important weekend information. Don’t forget to rest, eat well, hydrate, tune-up that bike and double-check that equipment pack list.

The City of Austin, our entire staff and hundreds of fantastic volunteers look forward to making your event both safe and successful.

Until Memorial Day,

The Life Time Athletic Events Crew

Swim Caps

Your official swim cap will be provided to you at packet pickup. This cap is provided for your safety during the swim and must be worn during the entire swim. the finish line. Accel Gel will be available on course in three great tasting flavors; chocolate, citrus orange and strawberry kiwi.

If you are not a current user of Accelerade, we encourage you to sample it prior to race day on a ride or run in order to acclimate your body to a sport drink with protein. Protein occasionally causes GI discomfort in a limited number of individuals. We have found that the best way to reduce the possibility of GI distress is by taking small quantities of fluid (1/2 ounce) regularly ( every 10 minutes) during strenuous exercise.

Endurox R4 will be available in the Athlete Recovery area in fruit punch flavor.

Accelerade Sports Drink, Accel Gel Rapid Energy Gels and Endurox R4 Recovery Drink all contain a 4:1 ratio of carbohydrates to protein, scientifically proven to be the optimal ratio to help the body extend endurance, replenish muscle glycogen, provide more energy faster and speed muscle recovery.

Click here to receive free samples of Accelerade®, Accel Gel® and Endurox® R4® directly to your door, when you pay a flat shipping fee of $3.99.

allow spectators to see athletes during the race. Non-race personnel and spectators are not permitted to assist athletes in any way. Those who receive outside assistance (of any type) have an unfair advantage over their competition. If athletes are seen accepting assistance, they are subject to time penalties or disqualification. Families and spectators must stay off the course, and may not enter the Transition area or the Finish Line chute. Please be respectful of all participants.

Event Staff may disqualify any athlete who brings family or friends into Transition. ONLY ATHLETES ARE PERMITTED IN TRANSITION AND FINISH LINE.

Children Parents, please supervise your children at all times. The race site and course are busy and potentially dangerous areas.

Pets We recommend to leave pets at home. If there are any pets on site, we will ask to make sure they are leashed at all times.

Photography/Social Media Athlinks will provide complimentary race photography before, during and after the race. Please make sure your race numbers (body marking, bike and bib numbers) are visible at all times so you can be identified. Photos will be posted to the event website within 24 hours of the event.

Volunteers This event requires hundreds of volunteers to dedicate their time during the big holiday weekend. Please remember to thank them as you come across their services! The event would not be possible without them.
