It is yet another opportunity for us to thank God for thewonderful gift of life and a brand new year and season. It has been a wonderful journey in 2015 and we thank all

of our partners who have worked so tirelessly with usthrough the past year. A big Thank You to all of you.

Last year we participated in various activities includingthe World Environmental Day at the invitation of UNEP.

Our members were able to meet with Ms Shale-WorkZewde, the Director General of UNON. We also

conducted several School Mentorship Programs which isan ongoing activity. We hope to cover as many schoolsas possible this year. We also conducted our annual

Young Leaders Conference in August last year.

Our visit to Red Cross was cancelled due to logisticalchallenges at Red Cross and we therefore embarked onour much awaited visit to the National Assembly.

Having secured a date for the visit following theapproval by the Speaker, we again had to postpone the

visit owing to the prolonged teachers strike last year. However, we hope that we shall be able to make the visit

this year according to our calendar of events.

Our International Educational Tours took us to Geneva

Switzerland where we engaged with the United Nations,Red Cross and other institutions. We also visitedBrussels, Belgium where we visited the European UnionParliament, Euro Space Center among other veryexciting Educational areas. We thank all the parents who

sacrificed to make the members participate in the tours.

Finally, I thank all our members for being ready to learn

and change for the better. We look forward to anexciting 2016 together.

May God bless you all.

The Barack Obama Leadership Program (BOLP) aims todevelop a 21st century generation of leaders. Thismission starts with the selection of young students,

particularly those who demonstrate the potential to

comprehend and apply the fundamental principlesneeded by leaders as well as whom, by virtue of theirage (from 10 to 25 years old) and education, are oftenlooked upon as role models.

Thus, the program seeks to equip selected students, withvital leadership skills. To this end, working along with

other professionals/experts, the program endeavors toinstruct and equip the participants in parliamentary

procedures, conflict resolution, disaster management, models of leadership, public speaking, community and

civic engagement, character development, educationalenhancement skills and international exposure throughorganized international educational tours.

through exchange programs.

SELECTION OF STUDENTS.

Students that have shown leadership qualities in

education, sports, character or other identifiable skills

are selected by the schools and recommended for

registration in the program. All selections are done

through the schools by the schools administration.

However, parents who feel that they have students that

have the desired leadership skills that require

development are encouraged to engage the schools

where the students learn so that they can be

recommended for registration.

SCHOOL MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

Due to the short third term, National exams and the teachers strike we were not able to visit as many schools as

we had planned due to the foregoing. Some schools also had activities during the proposed school mentorship

visits and therefore this posed another challenge. However, some schools were visited and our mentors were

able to interact with the members.

YOUNG LEADERS SEMINAR AND CONFERENCE

On the 27th of August 2015, our members assembled at The Good Shepherd Hall along Ngong Road for the

annual Young Leaders Conference. The Young Leaders interacted with other members from around the country

INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL TOURS - 2015

In 2015, we had two International Educational Tours. In April 2015, two separate teams participated in the tour

to Geneva, Switzerland. The first team left the country on the 3rd of April and returned on the 9th of April 2015.

The second team left on the 20th of April and returned on the 26th of April 2015. The members who participated

in the Geneva, Switzerland International Educational Tour were 65 members. They toured the United Nations

Headquarters, Red Cross, and the Swiss Alps among many other places

On the 6th of December 2015, our 57 members left the country for Brussels, Belgium. During that period, there

was a terrorist attack in Paris, France and the some of the terrorists fled into Belgium. This caused a lot of

anxiety as Brussels had to be under lock down for almost one week while the security agents assessed the

security situation of the county. In consultation with the Belgian Embassy in Nairobi, and our Embassy in

Kenya, the safety of our members was guaranteed by Her Excellency >>>>>>>, the Belgian Ambassador to

Kenya at a meeting with our Program Director. The members returned safely on the 13th of December 2015

having visited The European Union Parliament, Euro Space Centre, Atomium among others.
