To friends and supporters of boys and girls in foster care,

Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation, Arizona Helping Hands and Voices for CASA Children are excited about our 2016 Backpack & School Supply Drive for Children in foster care.

Today, there 19,000 children in foster care, and every day 36 more children will enter foster care in Arizona. Most of these children have been physically abused, neglected, sexually assaulted or emotionally abused by the very people they rely on to keep them safe. They enter foster care with little more than the clothes on their back, and are most likely behind in school, as well as in their social and educational development.

We started our backpack drive in 2012 to be a “good” thing that happens for children in foster care. Last year we provided over 2,500 backpacks, but this does not come close to the number of children currently Arizona’s foster care system. Our ambitious goal this year is 4,000 backpacks filled with all of the necessary supplies to start the school year. We believe this goal will be reached - with the help of community leaders like you and your organization.

There are many ways to get involved:

Gold Star Sponsor: Your $2,500 donation will provide 150 fully stocked backpacks AND you will receive prominent recognition on our flyers, posters, press releases and social media (over all three agencies’ pages). Posters will be displayed in businesses, retail shops and restaurants across the valley.

Silver Star Sponsor. Your $1,500 donation will provide 90 fully stocked backpacks and you will be recognized on our wrap up press release and through social media.

Your business can serve as a drop off location for backpacks and supplies.

You can sponsor a collection drive for needed items at your business or in your community group – we will even provide boxes and posters.

All of our sponsors will receive an official social media posting thanking them for their support. This may be shared via the sponsors’ social media and website. All donations are tax deductible.

You can also help by spreading the word about the backpack drive, sharing the event page, drive information and our flyer with your network of friends, business partners and on social media sites. Only with your help can we look forward to ensuring that every child in foster care will begin their next year with the tools necessary to be successful.
