Thank you to everyone for helping us reduce paper waste. www.thenetworkct.org Happy New Year Everyone! 2016 has been a year of great successes, new initiatives, additions to staff and board, as well as the many challenges we faced with clients’ need for affordable housing and State of Connecticut financial cuts. Currently, we have 18 staff members who dedicate themselves to improving the lives of victims and their children. Through the CT Coalition against Domestic Violence and OVS, The Network was awarded grant monies to have additional court support in Rockville Civil Court. This has expanded our services in Rockville criminal and civil court to a full time position to further help victims who seek our services. Our staff has joined a homelessness coalition task force to be the voice to help victims of domestic violence secure affordable, supportive housing. The Network welcomed two new board members in 2016, as well as a new board chair, Deb Gish. Our grant writer and I continuously research new opportunities for future funding. We were successful in receiving a $20,000 grant from Mary Kay Foundation in 2016 to help us makeover our kitchen and bathroom area on the first floor of Julie’s safe house. We are excited to be in most of the area elementary, middle and high schools and Asnuntuck Community College on a consistent basis to provide educational programs about healthy friendships, bullying, teen dating and safety planning. We believe 2017 will be the year to revise, secure and sustain our programs and support. As we see the state of our state changing and possible further reductions, we are aware of the many fiscal challenges our agency may face. Our goal is to prepare for these challenges while maintaining only the highest level of service to our clients. Lastly, I would be remiss without thanking EVERYONE in our community who have continuously supported us one way or another! Your generosity to our agency is appreciated.
