2The Robbie AwardThe Asian Hallof Fameisthe premier initiative of the Robert ChinnFoundation.Since its founding in 2004, the mission of the Asian Hall of Fameis to honor achievement, inspire the next generation, and build the nationalcommunity of Asian Pacific Americans.The only event of its kind in the United States, the Asian Hall of Fame honorsdistinguished individuals of Asian Pacific descent whose personalachievements have contributed to the American experience. Held in Seattle,Washington,the Asian HallofFame recognizes Asian Pacific Americanachievements at a national level, with the next event occurring in May 2016.The Asian Hall of Fame online presence provides a year-round resource for allAsian Pacific Americans. Featuring cultural and educational information, aswell as updates about the namesake event, the Asian Hall of Fame mediaplatform is a forum that brings a national focus and recognition to the AsianPacific American culture.The Robert Chinn Foundation was formed in Seattle, Washington in June1986 to honor the memory ofRobertChinn,a prominentbusiness andcommunity leader who founded United Savings and Loan Bank the firstAsian-owned bank in the United States.A 501(c)3 public organization, the Foundation strives to continue Chinns workof helping his local neighbors prosper through its mission to improve the civic,educational and cultural quality of life of Asian Pacific Americans.One of the first initiatives of the Foundation was the founding of the AsianResource Center (ARC) in 1994, designed to offer affordable communityspaces and serve over 12,000 annually through meetings, classes, communityactivities, and special events in Seattles International District. Since that time,the Robert Chinn Foundation has transitioned to a grant-based philanthropicorganization and has created a lasting impact both locally and nationallythrough the Asian Hall of Fame.3 3Statistically,Asian Pacific American isone ofthe most rapidly growingdemographics of any ethnic population in the United States.Between the 2000 and 2010 censuses,the percentage growth ofAsianAmericans was 46% - more than any other major race group. In fact, the AsianAmerican population increased more than four times faster than the total U.S.population, with growth occurring in every state in the country.With almost 20 million U.S. residents listed as having Native Hawaiian, PacificIslander, or Asian heritage in a 2011 report from the United States CensusBureau, the Asian Pacific American demographic as a whole is shown to havean increasingly strong presence throughout the nation.The rise of the Asian Pacific American population in the United States has alsoyielded a rise in Asian Pacific American business leaders, non profitorganizations, media outlets, local heritage events, and cultural film festivals.Asian Pacific Americans have achieved at a high level in industries ranging fromsports and entertainment to law and medicine.The Asian HallofFame is the only eventthatrecognizes Asian PacificAmericans nationally, across industry and ethnicity. Through the Asian Hall ofFame event and online, the Robert Chinn Foundation endeavors to raiseawareness, provide a forum for collaboration, and to bring a national focus toAsian Pacific American cultures.We hope that you will join us to be inducted as an honoree in the Asian Hall ofFame, to share your story, and to inspire future achievements of Asian PacificAmerican leaders.45Asian Hall of Fame honorees have the opportunity to raise awareness forAsianPacificAmericansata national level throughrecognition ofindividual achievements in their fields.The Asian Hall of Fame is a celebration of the many notable contributionsmade by Asian Pacific Americans. By acknowledging these contributions,the Robert Chinn Foundation seeks to increase the stature of AsianPacific Americans and help inspire the next generation.To this end, honorees of the Asian Hall of Fame have some importantresponsibilities, including: Attendance at the Asian Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and the VIPReception, occurring the night before the formal induction ceremony, Participation in any pre-approved media interviews in connection withthe Asian Hall of Fame event.Official interviews in Seattle regarding theAsian HallofFame must be coordinated through the RobertChinnFoundation with the approval of the honoree. Honorees may designatean agent or representative to authorize approvals, Listing the Asian Hall of Fame inductee recognition as an individualaccomplishment in relevant biographical sources, such as web sites, Cross marketing support, including permission for the Asian Hall ofFame to use honoree names and photos in promotional materials, and Contributing to future Asian Hall of Fame events by recommendingpotential honorees, sponsorship sources, or attendees, or in other waysmarketing and promoting the Asian Hall of Fame event, mission, andbrand.6Inshowcasingtheachievements of AsianPacific Americans tothecommunity, the Asian Hall of Fame endeavors to inspire future generations.Through our hallmark event, social media presence, and through actively-building partnerships with other Asian or Pacific Islander-focusedorganizations, we provide a resource for Asian Pacific Americans all overthe country to share their heritage and legacy.The AsianHall of Fame has oneof the fastest-growingestimatedimpressions of any Asian Pacific organization in the country.
