2 GALA ANNUAL REPORT 2016
Dear Members,
The past year at GALA was marked by momentum around our new web platform along with refinements to our key programs. Our activities underscored GALA’s commitment to providing member companies with meaningful experiences, both online and in person, and we unveiled several new programs and campaigns.
Through resources, networking, and collaborative programs, GALA is helping industry companies to grow, connect, and succeed in our evolving sector.
In 2016 our goals were to enable member collaboration, develop high caliber content and resources, and grow membership outreach. This report highlights our most significant activities during GALA’s 2016 fiscal year, which ended 31 December 2016.
Looking ahead to 2017, we have programs in place to support member and industry stakeholder collaboration, train member employees, provide a window to important industry trends, build visibility for our member companies, and deliver a high-quality membership experience overall.
The year ahead will be a time to grow our newest programs, enhance established offerings, to share with the industry what GALA represents and delivers. On behalf of the team at GALA, I would like to thank our many members, sponsors, and volunteers that supported GALA’s activities in 2016.
Best regards,
Laura BrandonExecutive Director

PARTNER PROGRAMIn 2016 we completed our maiden year of the GALA Partner Program, designed to streamline and make visible GALA’s collaboration with a wide variety of organizations. We currently have 18 active partnerships with related organizations.
COLLABORATIVE EVENTSGALA collaborated with other organizations to provide expert content at their events. We value collaborations as a way to shine a spotlight on translation, localization, and the language industry as a whole. Participating allows us to introduce our industry to new audiences and provide a deeper understanding to those already familiar with it.
AMBASSADOR PROGRAMIn 2016 we had four GALA ambassadors working in these key areas (regional and topical): India, Latin America, Gender Equality, Education/Talent, and Standards.
The role of appointed GALA Ambassadors is to represent and advocate on behalf of GALA. They play an important role at conferences, workshops, educational meetings, and other events; online, in person and through special assignments. A key aim of the GALA Ambassador Program is to facilitate communication between the association and industry stakeholders around the world.
