     American Association of Japanese University Women  

    2016 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 

    The American Association of Japanese University Women (AAJUW) is currently accepting applications for its2016 scholarships. AAJUW was founded in 1970 to promote the education of women, as well as tocontribute to U.S. – Japan relations, cultural exchanges, and development of leadership. Every year, sincethe founding of the organization, scholarships have been awarded to outstanding female students. This yeareach awardee will receive a $2,000 scholarship. 

    QUALIFICATIONS 

    1. Female student enrolled in an accredited California college or university2. Has junior, senior or graduate standing in the school year 2016-20173. Recipient, at her own expense, is asked to attend the award ceremony held on Sunday, January 22,

    2017 in Los Angeles.4. Demonstrate a desire and intent to fulfill a leadership role in your chosen field of study and to be acontributor to U.S.-Japan relations and cultural exchanges

    5. Must not have received an AAJUW scholarship previously

    NECESSARY DOCUMENTS 

    1. Scholarship Application Form (available on-line http://www.aajuw.org )2. A current resume3. Official transcript(s) for the past two years of study to be sent directly from the college/university to

     AAJUW Scholarship Committee4. Two letters of recommendation, addressed to AAJUW Scholarship Committee. One must be written by a

    professor in your major field of study5. An essay on the topic of what you hope to accomplish in your field of study and how this will contribute to

    improve U.S. – Japan relationship. Be specific in your essay to clarify your ideas. It should not exceedtwo pages (8 ! x 11, double-spaced) in English or in Japanese

    DEADLINE AND SUBMISSION 

     All required documents including official transcripts and letters of recommendation must be received by theCommittee by September 30, 2016.
