CAMP OVERVIEW:
The 2016-17 Illinois College Winter Track and Field Camps will be held indoors at King Field House on the Illinois College campus. This camp will be an opportunity for high school and junior high boys and girls competing in the pole vault, high jump, throws, hurdles and sprints to receive in-depth instruction in the events of their choice.
Illinois College track and field coaching staff will provide all instruction.
LOCATION
Illinois College is located in Jacksonville, Illinois, 30 miles west of Springfield, 90 miles north of St. Louis, 70 miles east of Quincy and 100 miles south of Peoria.
STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIES
The 2016-17 winter camps will be held indoors in the King Field House at the Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center.
CAMP DIRECTOR: JASON HAYNES
Jason Haynes is the Director of Track & Field/Cross Country at Illinois College and is also a graduate of IC. Haynes has coached numerous school record holders and conference champions in various events. He holds USTFCCCA Specialist certifications in the sprints, hurdles, relays, and jumps and also has his master’s degree in sport management from WIU.
INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTION
Campers will be broken up into groups of no more than 10-15 people. Instructors, along with camp counselors specializing in each event, will demon-strate everything from specialized warm-ups, individual skills and event specific techniques.
EXPECTATIONS
Campers are expected to have sufficient training shoes (both running and competition). 1/8-inch spikes are acceptable. We are limited with regard to the number of implements for throwers, so campers can bring their own. We can supply poles, but vault-ers are also encouraged to bring their own poles that meet IHSA specifications.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
• Camp will be broken into two sessions (2-4 p.m. and 4-6 p.m.) with no more than 10-15 campers in an event per session (depending on the event and space).
• The High Jump, Horizontal Jumps and Throws will only be offered in the 2-4 p.m. session. Sprints and Hurdles will only be offered during the 4-6 p.m. session.
• Pole vaulters will be divided by experience level. Campers with less than two years of experience in PV will be considered beginners. Each session will be capped at 10 vaulters so you must send a check to guarantee a spot.
• You can choose up to two events per day in which to participate, but they need to be in separate sessions.
• Secondary insurance cost will be included in the fee.
• Camp fees are:
:: $30 for one session per day
:: $50 for both sessions per day
