from Tom’s desk.

WELL WINTER WELL SOON BE A THING OF THE PAST. IT WAS NOT TO BAD COMPARED TO UP

NORTH. AS A LOT OF YOU READ THIS, YOU WILL BE MAKING PLANS TO GO WHERE EVER YOU

GO IN THE SUMMER TIME. PLEASE TAKE CARE SO YOU CAN COME BACK TO BEAUTIFUL

SOUTHFORK THIS FALL. THE REST OF US WILL HAPPY TO BE IN FL. YEAR ROUND.

WE WILL TRY TO KEEP YOU BUSY WITH DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES. WE STILL HAVE A FEW OF YOU

THAT HAVE NOT JOINED THE ASSOCIATION. WE WANT TO MAKE THIS THE BIGGEST YEAR

YET. IT IS OUR LIFE BLOOD IN THIS PARK TO KEEP US STRONG.

PLEASE KEEP YOUR PETS UNDER CONTROL AND ON A LEASH AND PLEASE PICK UP AFTER

THEM.

EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE WE MUST BE REMINDED TO WATCH OUR SPEED AND WATCH OUT

FOR GOLF CARTS.

MARCH 28TH WILL BE THE LAST ASSOCIATION MEETING TILL NEXT NOVEMBER SO PLAN TO

ATTEND .

I HAVE POSTED A COMMITTEE LIST IN THE CLUB HOUSE . LOOK IT OVER I THINK YOU MIGHT

BELONG SOME WHERE.

SOME THING HAS BEEN COME UP CONCERNING THE CLUB HOUSE. IF A FUNCTION IS HELD IN

THE CLUB HOUSE YOU MUST CLEAN IT UP BEFORE YOU LEAVE NO EXCEPTIONS. IT IS NOT THE

RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PARK MANAGER TO CLEAN UP A MESS LIKE WE HAD. THIS INCLUDES,

BINGO, WOMEN’S CLUB ANY CARD GAMES, BREAKFAST EC T. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW MINUTES

TO DO THIS THIS. WE WANT PEOPLE TO BE PROUD OF WHERE THEY LIVE. ALSO IF YOU MOVE

TABLES AND CHAIRS PUT THEM BACK! THE SAME THING APPLIES AT THE POOL. WE WILL

MONITOR THIS SITUATION VERY CLOSELY.

ON THE BRIGHTER SIDE WE HAD A WONDERFUL COMEDY SHOW WITH GEORGE CASEY. IF

YOU MISSED IT TOO BAD.

SEE YOU AROUND THE PARK.

TOM.

Women’s Club

On March 2nd we had 48 members attend our monthly meeting. It was

wonderful to see so many attend before everyone heads off to their

home states for summer. We opened the meeting with the pledge to the

flag. Feb minutes were read by Peggy and voted on and approved.

Barbara gave the treasurers report, and informed us of the total made

after expenses from the Soup Supper which was $611.oo. Good job

everyone on another successful fund raiser!

Quilters committee showed all the items ready to be donated to Sunrise

Battered Women's Shelter. These women really out did themselves and

the items will surely be a real help for the shelter. Charity

Committee report was given by Nancy Steding and she shared a thank you

note from Heidi at Cornerstone and reminded the group of their banquet

on March 10th. Gardener's report- Jean Bittman is in charge of the

planters now and will tend to them for us to enjoy.

The new By-laws were read, voted on and approved. Thank you for all

your input.

Our March Hostesses were Ginger Shanbeck and Phyllis Fisher, they did

a beautiful job decorating in the spirit of St Patrick’s Day. We

enjoyed all the fruit and cake and green punch. Thanks again Ladies!

March birthdays were celebrated. We raffled off 4 gifts donated by

Tanya, remember to see her if you need any Avon. Thank you Tanya for

your generosity.

Sign-up sheets were sent around for the Fall Bazaar and baskets to

raffle. We are still in need of a few good workers. Reminded those

doing Easter baskets for the kids through Daystar, to have them

delivered to Carol Whitbeck by March 17th. Thank you to those

who helped out.

Our speaker this month was Clarice from Sunrise Battered Women's

Shelter. she shared her history of working with abused women for over

40 years and changes that have been made over time to help ensure

Shelter, training, counseling, and safety for women and their children

trying to escape domestic abuse. She astounded us with the statistics

of 1 in 3 women today are raped, and only 1 in 10 report it and seek

help. We gave her all the wonderful quilts, pillows and stuffed toys

along with a check for a donation to continue the good work.

We look forward to seeing you at our April meeting, this will be our

last meeting until Oct. but those wishing to meet and go out to

breakfast is encouraged. For those headed North for the summer, have a

safe trip and we will see you again in the fall.

President of Southfork Women's Club- Betty Butler

Unsung Heroes

This is such a touching story and I do not know where to start with it.

There are 3 people who have done so much for this person and she does

not know how and where to start saying a “Big Thank You” for all they have done and ask if I could

put something together for her and to make it anonymous.

There is one thing about being neighborly but these 3 people have gone over and above to help.

First let me name the 3 Good Samaritan’s…… George Norstrom, Kathy Gallick and Linda Miller.

They all help at different times and do all sort of odd jobs they see that need to be done with out any

asking. It is household and outside help they give and watch out for her and so much more.

Because of her rough times they also provide her with meals and know when she needs the help the

most. She is sure they have their own work and lives but they are so good and never hesitate to

help and she did not know how to thank them and just wanted everyone to know what great people

they are.

From a loving and appreciated neighbor

Southfork Walking Group Started

Hi guys and girls……is there anyone interested in a walking group?

I know myself I do not like exercise or being in the outdoors but would like to start walking to get in

some exercise. I need some motivation and thought maybe this would be a start joining in a

walking group..

It will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9am. PS (Note….day and time can be changed) What do

you think? A start of 2 days a week and it can be increased if the interest is there. It’s not hot out

at that time of morning and this time of year it is usually comfortable.

I know a lot cannot walk the hills but we will start with walking the circumference from the top of

Prairie down to Tumbleweed, up Tumbleweed back to the front of the clubhouse. This is not a must

and whomever wants to cut that route short is okay. Also, you can park your cars or carts at the

clubhouse without having to walk the distance from your homes. Remember most of us are really

out of shape and the purpose of this group is to get some walking exercise in regardless of how far or

how much we do. Then if anyone is energized they can start walking the other streets on their own.

This walking is for the strengthening of muscles and joints and to become more stronger. I know our

doctor stresses the importance of exercise for better health. Again, it is up to each individual

whether you can or can’t do the walking but go by your doctor’s orders. Watching your diet helps

but the exercise is the key and what is really needed..

Our first walking exercise started on Tuesday, March 15th and hope it continues even through out the

summer months. So snowbirds….join us now and get in shape before heading north and when you

get back resume the walking with us.

Maybe this can be a start of keeping Southfork fit……….(smile)
