HAppY NEW YEAR FROM THE pRESIdENT!I hope that you all had a wonderful time over the holidays with friends and family and are enjoying the new year. We are looking forward to new development at the Grove in 2013, especially the addition of some really cool amenities that will be great for the community.
there will be a paved walking trail that will run through the greenbelt and around the large pond between phase III and IV and we are now hoping it will be complete around the first part of February. In conjunction with the walking trail, we will be putting in a play field and gazebo, which should be done shortly thereafter. We are also excited to put in a huge playground that will be really fun for kids. It will be done in conjunction with the development of Grove south phases 3 and 4 and is scheduled to be done sometime around the end of the year.
phase V, which is the largest product in the Grove to date, is now complete so you should start to see new homes going up just south of the school very soon. this section of the Grove is called Old stone. due to some issues with the City, we are now anticipating that phase IV will be complete around the middle of march. these homes will be similar to phase II and will be part of the Orchard.
If you should have any questions please feel free to contact myself or Kimberly swan at the email addresses below.
sincerely,
Jarod Tarver

MEGHANN TILFORdA LIttLe HIstOry LessOn meghann is from Antlers, Oklahoma and graduated from Ou in 2009 with an accounting degree. she married the love her life, shaun, in may 2010 and worked as an auditor at Hogantaylor, a regional accounting firm in OKC. meghann “retired” from world of accounting just before their son parker was born and officially launched meghann Jaline photographie in november 2011.
In tHe KnOW WItH meGHAnn
How did you get started in this business? “I have always had a love of photography. until a few years ago, all of my pictures were taken with a small Canon point and shoot camera. I upgraded to a Canon rebel, but it wasn’t until I found out I was pregnant with our first child that I decided I needed to really learn how to use my camera and not just in “auto” mode. I took several classes and read everything I could to learn how to shoot in manual mode. After 4 months of taking pictures of my little boy, people started asking me to take pictures for them. my very first paid photo shoot was engagement pictures for one of my best friends, followed by two newborns and things just took off from there.”
What is a good early story about your business?“Funny story...I call my son ‘monkey.’ Occasionally at photo shoots, I call other people’s kids ‘monkey’ and I’ve had some really strange looks from parents not understanding why I’m calling their children monkeys!”
Who are some of your most notable clients, if any?“most notable clients…Grover’s. Favorite clients...friends and neighbors.”
What are some of your greatest challenges in your business?“I am shy, reserved and not very good at small talk...so it forces me to interact with strangers. It has really helped me step out of my comfort zone.”
What is your favorite thing to photograph?“Families and especially kids! I love the challenge of working with kids on a good or bad day and being able to deliver that perfect picture...and the excitement the parents receive once they see their little ones photo’s.”

6 HEALTH & LIFESTYLE
BY: BETH SpERLING, GROUp FITNESS INSTRUCTOR, BOdY LANGUAGE GYM ANd pERSONAL TRAINER
We’ve all done it. With the best of intentions, we make our new year’s resolutions but rarely are we able to keep them. Here’s a 5-point plan to help you actually keep your new year’s Fitness resolutions!
1. be speCIFICdon’t say “I want to eat healthier” or “I will exercise more”. that is too vague and therefore you can’t be accountable to it or be able to track it. Instead, for example, say, “I will cut back my soda intake to 8 oz a day and only one dessert a week” and “I will exercise at least 20 min a day for 3 days a week”. the more you specific you are, the more you can track your path to success!
1. be reALIstICdon’t set your goals so high that you doom yourself to failure! If your goals are to work-out 2 hours a day, everyday or to only eat chicken and salad everyday, chances are they will be short-lived goals. this will be followed by disappointment and frustration which leads to giving up. It is much better to start with small, very attainable goals and as you reach them you will stay motivated and keep on track to reaching bigger goals.
3. be CreAtIVe And HAVe Funeating right and exercising doesn’t have to be a chore! If you hate jogging and eating salad, don’t make those the cornerstones of your resolution. think about what you like as a way to start. If you like walking, commit to walking
your dog or walking with family or friends 5 days a week. If you like to cook, try some new healthy cookbooks or have fun with the kids in the kitchen trying new recipes. make getting healthier something you look forward to doing instead of something you are dreading doing!
4. buILd A suppOrt systemthat “accountability factor” can be just enough to get off that couch when all you want to do is watch tv! Join a gym with a friend, try group fitness classes or work with a personal trainer. even just asking a friend to be your cheerleader and check in with you regularly to help keep you motivated can make a big difference. Facebook is a great way to track your progress and getting lots of “likes” can be very motivating!
5. be pOsItIVe And reWArd yOurseLFdon’t concentrate on the negative side of your resolution, i.e., no sweets, no carbs. try to think in positive terms. Get excited about trying new recipes or trying a new work-out like Zumba! Crash diets are another example of being too negative and restrictive which is dangerous. Instead, be positive and make small changes in your eating habits that you can realistically stick to as a lifestyle change. When you start reaching your goals... reward yourself! you deserve it! Keep your rewards positive. don’t treat yourself by splurging on a gallon of ice cream! that can lead back to bad habits. treat yourself to a new pair of smALLer jeans or something else that will feel like a treat without undoing all your hard work!
Good luck and have a very Happy new year!

• 1 box of chocolate cake mix + ingredients on box
• 1 can of chocolate frosting• 1 bag of chocolate candy melts • microwave-safe container for
melting chocolate
• Crisco shortening• 4” paper lollipop sticks• A big styrofoam block• Candy writer decorating pens
SUpER BOWL CAkE pOpSWhat you’ll need:
How to make them:• bake the cake in a 9 x 13” pan according to the directions on the box.
Let the cake cool completely and crumble the cake into a large bowl. (the smaller the crumbles the better)• mix in about half a jar of room temp frosting depending on how moist your cake is. Add more if needed. use the back of a
wooden spoon to combine, nOt a hand mixer. mixture should be the same consistency as cookie dough, moldable but not mushy, able to hold its own shape but not too dry.
• Line a baking sheet with wax paper. scoop some “dough” and roll it into a ball about 1” in diameter. squash and mold your ball into a football shape. Fill up the sheet and chill in the fridge.
• While the footballs chill, heat up half a bag of the chocolate candy melts. microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between.• be careful not to over-microwave it because it will get dried out. dOn’t add water if this happens. use the shortening. It will
thin the candy out and also help when you start dipping.• pull your footballs out of the fridge. dip the end of a lollipop stick about a 1/2” into the candy. then stick it into the football.
there should be a little puddle of candy around the base. Wait until it hardens. this will help keep the football “glued” to the stick while you dip the whole thing.
• dip the footballs in the candy to coat them, tap the stick on the edge of your container gently to remove the excess coating. then poke the stick into the styrofoam block, making sure the pops don’t touch each other while they dry.
• In the meantime, you can heat up your candy pens. Follow the instructions specific to your pens...usually you set them in some very hot but not boiling water.
• draw on the laces with the white pen. use slow movements and even pressure. Lay the pops down on a wax-covered baking sheet make decorating easier.
• Let the laces dry, and that’s it! Football cake pops, perfect for the big game or any tailgate.
