Vibration Robustness of Electrodes

Maxwell has invested great effort in extending the working envelop of UCAP cells. During this investigation we have found some inherent ways that our dry process electrode preforms better then wet coated electrode under vibration testing. We believe that these results would hold true not only for UCAPS but also batteries made with the dry process.

Post-vibration

Maxwell has observed high ESR increases in UCAPS with wet coated electrodes after vibration testing• Process: binder breakdown => loose carbon,

higher ESR• Electrode level tests: 15 day soak in ACN or 10 min

shake on mixer while folded and soaked in ACN Pre-vibration
