    Saturn ZenThe beauty of simplicity.

Subtle modern look with clever design features.

IntroductionThe Clipsal by Schneider Electric plate ranges continue to grow and transform, with the release of

the Saturn Zen range of premium LED switches, sockets and the new charging smart shelf

accessory and pictograms. Continuing with the push button theme, Saturn Zen has a subtle,

modern design to suit both residential and commercial applications. With an understated look and

clever design features, the standard LED push button switches make it easy to find the switch at

night and with the introduction of “Pictograms” make it even easier to determine what room/area

    you are switching.

With the release of our USB Charger Mechanism, the new range will offer an innovative charging

smart shelf accessory to allow you to take your smartphone or tablet off the table and put it on the

shelf that is part of the wall plate, in a neat and convenient way to charge your phone or tablet.

Following this launch, we will see the Saturn Zen finish within the C-Bus range of wall switches.

Currently in development are one, two, three and four button C-Bus Saturn Zen wall switches in

Zen White and Zen Black finishes. The C-Bus eDLT wall switch is being developed for the C-Bus

Saturn Zen range also. Product release is expected in the near future. Please stand by for further

    news.

Why are we focusing on this?To continue with the move from medium to optimum offers, Saturn Zen is based on the original

Saturn platform which is already well accepted in the market and will provide a more subtle modern

alternative for our customers. The new painted matte finish and flush buttons provides a seamless

look and styling for today’s interior design, appealing to architects and specifiers.

This range offers the unique opportunity of providing an affordable up-sell from Slimline and

Classic and seamless cross-sell with Saturn.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Question 1

How bright is the LED? Will it keep the occupant awake in a bedroom?

The LED colour appears as a soft light blue glow, not a bright crystal blue glow

Question 2What is the LED life expectancy?

Generally LED life is 100,000 hours. If we consider two examples:

    1. A switch locator, where the LED would be illuminated for say, 20 hours per day, theLED would last approx 14 years.

    2.  A “light on” indicator, where the LED would be illuminated for say, 4 hours per day,

the LED would last approx 68 years.

Question 3How much energy does the LED use?

The LED draws approx 0.0006A or 0.6 milliamps. If a customer installs 10 LED switches the total of

all LEDs is approximately 1.4W if they are all illuminated at the same time.

Question 4Will the paint rub or flake off?

No, the painting application is designed to prevent wear and tear and will provide many years of

    use.

Bluetooth  Home AudioYour sound made simple

IntroductionClipsal Starserve Bluetooth Home Audio products have brought together the functionality of

Bluetooth Connectivity and convenience, in an affordable home audio solution. Providing a single

zone, unobtrusive ceiling mount solution without the need to relocate portable speakers.

There are 3 products that make up the offer.

6.5 inch (cone size) bluetooth in-ceiling pair of speakers (15W RMS) - Bluetooth module

and Amplifier mounted on back of Master Speaker

4.0 inch (cone size) bluetooth in-ceiling pair of speakers (8W RMS) - Bluetooth module

and Amplifier mounted on back of Master Speaker

Stand-alone Bluetooth amplifier - used for applications where independent passive

speakers can be utilised eg. Outdoor speakers, or for an existing system where cabling

can be re-routed to the Bluetooth amplifie for Bluetooth connectivity

With the three products on offer, there is bound to be one or more of the products to suit an

application within the home or small commercial premises.

The three Bluetooth products all run on the same Bluetooth connectivity principle.

Why are we focusing on this? The offer is an extension of our Starserve Home Audio range, to capture the market as changes in

lifestyle habits evolve. Music, entertainment and convenience are a big part of the growing trend in

    the standard residential premises.

Bluetooth Home Audio has brought in products that form a solution which combines Bluetooth

technology that customers have adapted and aquainted themselves with over the years with an

audio offer that forms part of the home as opposed to an accessory to the home.

The Bluetooth home audio offer provides a lifestyle convenience to our customers without the need

    to spend a fortune.

    Product Information

Unique Selling Features  Combination of Bluetooth Connectivity/Amplifier and Ceiling Mounted Speaker in the one

unit has given an unobtrusive Audio solution.

4.0” speakers have an aluminium grille which will not rust (not IP rated), so installing in the

bathroom ceiling is not a problem for these speakers (protects only against moisture

    generated by steam).

Bluetooth Amplifier is ideal for a customer that wants the convenience of Bluetooth

connectivity on an existing fixed audio solution, re-routing of cables to the module can

provide this convenience. Can be used for it’s Bluetooth Connectivity and Amplification

features for any passive speakers such as the Clipsal outdoor speakers.

Both Speakers and Amplifier can be uniquely labelled to easily identify which product you

    are pairing to both.

Speakers and Amplifier can be set with a personalised 4 digit passcode for secure pairing

    - software can be downloaded on clipsal.com/downloads to change both ID and passcode

1:1 Connectivity – one Bluetooth device to one Bluetooth product (1pr speakers or

    amplifier connected 1pr passive speakers)

Does not automatically pair so no one is locked out from pairing their device to the

    speakers or amplifier

Competitor AnalysisThere is one competitor currently on the market called Resilinx, which have products of equal

performance and specification. Their go-to-market strategy, distribution and customer base differs

from ours; therefore the probability of crossover selling is minimal.

We will always face competition in the consumer market with portable Bluetooth speaker Sonos

have a WIFI Amplifier, however this requires cabling and passive speakers.

Please note that that Sonos are in a different market and have a different customer base. Theirsystem cost is considerably more than where we are positioned in the market. Please consider

these factors when making comparisons and when challenged by customers on it.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1Can you connect more speakers to the current set-up?

A: The sound output will be considerably reduced, it is not recommended to do this.

There is the potential to unbalance the impedence. The system has been designed for only 1pr

    speaker output.

Question 2Can you connect more zones to the current recommended set-up?

A: No, this is a single zone solution.

Question 3Can you connect and control to more than 1 zone from your Bluetooth Device?

A: No, as one zone has one Bluetooth Receiver. Bluetooth devices can only connect to one

    receiver at any one time.

Question 4Can you connect more than one Bluetooth device to one Bluetooth receiver?

A: No, Bluetooth devices can only connect to one receiver at any one time.

    Question 5

Does the Bluetooth Device automatically pair to the receiver when within vicinity? A: No, this is so that it does not lock other users from pairing at any time. Once paired and

passcode entered, pairing again does not require passcode entered only requires to connect.

    WilcoROWCOOn Feb 16

th 2015, the Clipsal WilcoROWCO range will expand and have an upgraded offer. The

new releases will offer new products or redesigned products that include:

Socket Outlets  Appliance Inlets  Combination Switched Socket Outlets  DIN enclosure  Two, Three & Four Gang Enclosures  RCD Protected Outlets  Push Button Stations  Switches – Less Enclosure

    Unique Selling Features

    Mix’n match modular design

One key aspect of this release will be the modularity of the 10A, 15A, 20A, & 32A products that can

be mixed and matched in a similar way to 56 Series. In fact, the footprint (dimensions) of the offerhave been reduced so that 56 series products can be easily be replaced. A WilcoROWCO base

must however be used for these replacements or upgrades.

    New 3 & 4 gang enclosures

Of particular advantage will be the new three & four gang enclosures that will enable customers to

contain all cabling within an enclosure similar to the multi-gang nature of 56 Series. This will

eliminate the need for running conduits between enclosures offering improved mechanical

    protection.

Additionally, many of the components will change so that 56 Series plugs can be now be used in

    conjunction with the socket outlets.

    Selling Tools

    Airflow Product Range

As a result with some of our Airflow packaging being very old and not consistant with our brand

strategy, Clipsal by Schneider Electric Airflow products are receiving a new look. The new packing

box is made up of a unique charcoal grey design with a pattern of fan blades circulating the box.

This gives the products a premium family look and makes them easily identified as a Clipsal Airflow

    product.

Starting with the CEF40 Series and the 7100 Series Exhaust fans.

The new Fan, Light, Heater units (6500ADS & 6600ADS) will follow early in the new year.

The remainder of product will change to the new packaging in the year to come.

With packaging being the face of our products to the consumer, the right packaging will add value

to the product by recreating and refining it to be more unique and attractive, we can separate our

products from the competition, engage better with consumers, and increase our profitability.

WeatherprotectedWeatherprotected Isolating Switch - change to earthing

Recently the WHA, WHB and WHC range of products have experienced a component change

where the earthing point was altered from two screw terminations to single screw. Some customers

have asked whether or not this complies with Australian Standards. Rest assured this does comply

with Clause 2.9.4.2 (d) (ii) which states:

a neutral conductor used as a combined protective earthing and neutral (PEN) conductor for

protective earthing of any portion of an electrical installation, the terminal shall be of a type

    having —

(ii) one screw with an outside diameter not less than 80% of the tunnel diameter.

If you have any further questions on this feel free to contact Gary Busbridge or David Hilder in the

    in the Gepps Cross office.

Life Is On CampaignLaunch of Life Is On Partner CampaignOn February 2, 2015, we are launching a new campaign to tell the rest of the industry about Club

Clipsal and encourage more potential members to join Australia’s largest community for electriciansand electrical contractors.

The membership criteria for the Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers remains however we are introducing

a new, Bronze, tier dedicated to electricians. These members are not electrical contractors but are

    qualified electricians.

By opening the club up to the wider electrician market, we are ensuring that we recruit electricians

early into their career (our research shows that the average age of an electrician is lower than an

electrical contractor) and hope they stay with us as they progress through their careers and

therefore through the club tiers to end up as Platinum members and Clipsal ambassadors.

Also, more members means more knowledge and a bigger community within the industry.

Launch assets:  Radio adverts on Triple MMM that include a competition to win your share in

$2,000. Go to Triple MMMs win page to find out more about our ‘stories of

    electrician’s’ competition

Print assets – two key visuals depicting the ‘human’ side of the industry.

    Placed in trade magazines

Online assets – web banners of the same key visuals being placed in trade

magazines as well as part of our retargeting activity on our own website.

Club Clipsal pages have been revamped and two versions of an engaging

video featuring Bob Cross have been added to the home page and the How

Do I Become a Member page.

Business SessionThis year’s business session is being held in the Grand Ballroom at the Hilton Adelaide on Friday

    27th

February. With over 800 customers attending the event over 2 sessions, the theme for this

event is Race to the Future – preparing our customer for the new digital era.

We will be showcasing our latest products and solutions, innovative technologies and product

designs, digital tools to drive business into the future and the opportunity for our customers to

    network with industry colleagues.

Consumer Marquee2014 marked the first year that Clipsal had a dedicated marquee at the Clipsal500 event to engage

    with consumers.

With the launch of the Clipsal consumer campaign in June 2014, this year’s consumer marquee is

going ecapulate the Life Is On messaging. This year’s marquee is going to be bigger and better

    than ever.

It features the USB charger artwork externally and showcases our consumer product range

    internally.

There are plenty of charging stations on the back wall which means you don’t have to worry about a

‘flat battery’ moment as well as giveaways in the form of a branded fedora hat.

There will be an interactive wall that features PUSH Controls and Clipsal Wishlist and promo girls

will be circulating within the marquee with iPads to capture customer queries and details.

Other customer focussed activities that are happening at the 500 include:

The introduction the USB microsite – usb.clipsal.com – which is dedicated to the features

and benefits of the USB charger.

The launch of Which Switch? An addictive game we’ve created especially for the event,

which features a ‘Simon Says’ style game which you can download from the App Store or

    Google Play.

Stay tuned for the February edition of Marketing Update for acomprehensive review of the 2015 Clipsal 500 event.

The next edition will be distributed Monday 23rd February (3 daysprior to the commencement of the event).
