TESOL Academies

Audience: All ESL professionals

One- or two-day events featuring 10-hour work-shops led by top experts in the field. Academy workshops cover key issues and areas of practice in the profession, from teaching a multilevel class and literacy development in content areas to reading comprehension and writing instruction for ELLs.

Academies for 2015 will be held in the United States and India.

TESOL Regional Conferences

Audience: All ESL professionals

Two- to three-day events featuring 3-5 keynote speakers and concurrent sessions. Traditionally, these events feature recommended strands from the affiliates in the region, a call for proposals that will be peer reviewed, and pre- and postconference institutes.

A 2015 TESOL Regional Conference will be held in Singapore.

TESOL International Convention & English Language Expo

Audience: All ESL professionals

Join more than 6,500 ESL professionals from around the world for interactive educational sessions, workshops, and other essential professional development opportunities.

Audience: All ESL professionals

Learn how to identify and explain active and passive voice; identify adjective, adverb, and noun clauses; explain the use of participial phrases and the function of subjunctive mood; demonstrate the uses of transitional phrases, conjunctions, subordinating conjunctions, and conjunctive adverbs; and write teaching plans for complex grammatical structures.

Audience: Teacher educators and English language program coordinators and/or developers

Separating Difference From Disability with Students Learning English as an Additional Language

Audience: Practitioners working with ELLs in general education, bilingual education, and special education

Understand how to distinguish learning and behavior problems related to difference from those related to disability. Learn about screening and intervention processes, as well as key legal constraints on identifying and assessing culturally and linguistically diverse students for special education placement.
