The roots of Sonoma Valley’s Boys & Girls Club were planted in the early spring of 1962 by a group of active Sonoma Valley citizens who recognized the need to establish a Club that provided recreational activities and sports for boys. After many tireless hours by these motivated individuals, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley found it’s first home at the Sonoma Community Center.

As Sonoma Valley grew in the 1970s and 1980s, so did the need for positive activities and resources for our town’s young population. Again a group of local supporters of Sonoma Valley youth helped move The Club to a larger location on 1st Street West which served more members each week during the

critical afterschool hours. Many supporters today fondly remember taking their children to that location.

In 2000, the community of Sonoma Valley united as Dream Builders to complete construction on a stand-alone facility in Maxwell Park where Maxwell Clubhouse can be found today, teeming with happy, active kids! Maxwell Clubhouse is one of six dynamic locations providing afterschool education and enrichment including school sites at Flowery, Dunbar, El Verano, and Sassarini Elementary Schools as well as Altimira Middle School.

2015 is sure to be a year to remember for The Club as expansion efforts are underway to support the growing number of teen Club members with enhanced programming and a new facility!

Thank you to the Sonoma Valley community for your continued support and dedication. You have given us a past to celebrate and a bright future to embrace!

ELAINE BELL loves to cook, entertain, eat and enjoy good wine. What better combination of passions for the Wine Country’s premiere caterer! Growing up in Sonoma Valley, she spent many years in the family kitchen cooking for her parents and five siblings.

In 1978, at the Culinary Institute of America, her passion for food and wine exploded into a desire to learn the art of pairing foods with wines. In 1981, Elaine opened one of the first catering companies in the wine country. Working with great chefs and wine makers of the California Wine Country, she became a pioneer in producing unique dishes using the abundance of local agricultural products produced in Sonoma County. She, along with others, worked to create the current style and grace of wine country events.

Today, 32 years later, her remarkable team of professionals continues the tradition of excellent quality and integrity which has made her company sought after by clients both locally and internationally.

For tonight’s meal to honor two friends and community leaders, she has designed a fun and delicious menu that incorporates classic elegance with a modern presentation. The first course is a splash of color- Red, Yellow, and Chiogga Beets featured on a salad plate finished with a painter’s palate wash of color, and a citrus vinaigrette.

The main course incorporates a very tender cut of beef alongside sautéed jumbo prawns and her favorite potato and fennel gratin. Light and crispy root vegetables adorn this dish from the land and sea.

For a final, sweet surprise, don’t forget to head to the dessert room where you will be delighted by a whimsical and magical scene of sweets Frozen In Time!

Enjoy!

AUCTION RULES

“Building our future together.”

SILENT AUCTION RULES: Persons desiring to bid must do so by legibly writing their BIDDER NUMBER, NAME, and AMOUNT OF BID on the bid sheet. There will be a minimum bid and minimum bid increments on each sheet. All items in the Silent Auction section may be bid upon until the table closes by an Auction Official. The valid bid highlighted by an Auction Official constitutes a winning bid. At the time a table is closed, an Auction Official may, at his/her discretion, call a mini-live auction (voice or written bids) to determine the winning bidder for any item in which two or more persons are interested. Schedule of table closing times will be announced and/or prominently posted. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES MAY THE BID SHEET BE REMOVED FROM THE BIDDING TABLE.

LIVE AUCTION RULES: To enter a bid, the bidder raises his/her bidder number, directing a signal either to the Auctioneer or to one of the Spotters whose job it is to relay bids to the Auctioneer. The highest bidder acknowledged by the Auctioneer shall be the purchaser. In the event of any dispute, the Auctioneer shall have the sole and final discretion either to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and re-sell the item in dispute. At the signal from the Auctioneer, title of the article will pass to the highest bidder who thereupon assumes full risk and responsibility thereof, and pays the full purchase price that evening. Any bidder not making payment that evening will forfeit the right to purchase the item and it will be made available to the next highest bidder.

PAYMENT: Payment for items purchased by the successful bidder shall be made at the cashier’s table the evening of Saturday, February 7, 2015. You may pay with cash, check, MasterCard, AMEX or VISA. Items may be removed the night of the event only by exhibiting a PAID receipt at the door at time of departure. All sales are final and there will be no exchanges or refunds.

DISCLAIMER: The auction committee has endeavored to catalog and describe the property correctly, but all property is sold as is and the Boys & Girls Clubs neither warrants nor represents, and shall in no event be responsible for, the correctness of description, genuineness, authorship provenance or condition of the property. No statement contained in this catalog or made orally at the sale or elsewhere shall be deemed to be such a warranty, repre-sentation, or assumption of liability. Unless otherwise specified, all auction items or services must be picked up or used within one year. All experiences sold at the auction are to be undertaken at the sole risk of the purchaser and the Boys & Girls Clubs and/or auction committee shall not be or become liable or responsible in any way for the loss, injury or damage to or in respect of any person or property, howsoever caused or arising. ITEMS ARE NOT TO BE RETURNED TO DONORS FOR EXCHANGE OR REFUNDS, UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED BY DONOR.In accordance with the Internal Revenue Code, only the amount paid for an auction item IN EXCESS OF THE FAIR MARKET VALUE OF THE ITEM is tax deductible. A written receipt indicating such amount for tax purposes will be furnished upon request.
