RECENT AND ONGOING PROJECTS Renewable Energy

EDF Renewable Energy – Catalina Solar 2 Kern County, CaliforniaEI’s team provides preconstruction environmental services for this 40-MW portion of the Catalina Renewable Energy Project. EI’s team cre-ated a project-specific portal site, conducted sensitive species surveys, prepared the environmental training program and over a dozen work plans including a Hazardous Materials Business Plan and Fire Safety Plan. EI also completed the 401Certification and 1600 permitting.

EDF Renewable Energy – Longboat Solar San Bernardino County, CaliforniaEI’s team provides technical and biological services in support of the CPUC application, CEQA process, and permitting for this 20-MW solar project located north of the city of Barstow. Services include a jurisdic-tional delineation, several resource assessments including air quality and traffic, GIS support, and management.

Element Power – Wildflower Green Energy Farm Los Angeles County, CaliforniaEI provided comprehensive biological services for the 4,000-acre Wild-flower Green Energy Farm site in northern Los Angeles County. Particu-lar attention was given to the distribution and quality of various native grassland components, monitoring of several vernal pools and other wetlands and waters, and the distribution of sensitive plant and wildlife species. EI also conducted a focused wildlife movement analysis across the site using remote sensing infrared cameras and wildlife tracking. EI prepared documentation for review by Los Angeles County’s Significant Ecological Area Technical Advisory Committee (SEATAC).

Utility/Infrastructure

SCE- Downs Substation Expansion Kern and San Bernardino Counties, CAEI’s team provides environmental program management, biological services, and construction monitoring for the upgrade and expansion of the existing Downs 33/12-kV Substation located in Ridgecrest. The proj-ect also includes upgrades at several substations and installation of sub-transmission lines plus 58 miles of fiber optic telecommunication cable.

SCE - Drought Resolution and Hazardous Tree Removal ProjectsInyo, Kern, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, CaliforniaEI’s team conducts tree assessments, focused surveys for California red-legged frog and mountain yellow-legged frog, preconstruction sweeps, GIS analyses, and biological construction monitoring in support of tree felling activities for hundreds of trees across Angeles, San Bernardino and Sequoia National Forests. EI coordinates with multiple Forest Service Ranger Districts and prepares reports for actions on federal lands.

SCE – Banducci Substation Project PEA Kern County, CaliforniaEI prepared a PEA document in support of the construction of a new 66/12-kV substation including a comprehensive CEQA analysis of the potential environmental impacts. EI was the first company to implement SCE’s new PEA preparation process.

RECENT AND ONGOING PROJECTS Oil and GasFreeport McMoRan – Montebello Hills Oil Field Habitat Restoration, Creation, and Maintenance Project Los Angeles County, California For over 20 years EI has provided comprehensive biological services, including endangered studies, habitat restoration, biological monitoring and jurisdictional delineations at the 488-acre Montebello Hills Oil Field. EI designed the habitat restoration plan, prepared the Biological Opin-ion, and deployed a web portal to facilitate daily monitoring and en-dangered species reporting data.

Chevron USA – East Coyote Hills Conservation Plan Project Orange County, CaliforniaEI planned and implemented restoration efforts over 120 acres of coast-al California gnatcatcher habitat. The project was associated with a Habitat Conservation Plan for the federally threatened coastal Califor-nia gnatcatcher and included negotiations with the City of Fullerton and the USFWS.

Matrix Oil Corporation – Sempra Re-development Project Los Angeles County, CaliforniaEI’s team completed a biological resources assessment, focused Cal-ifornia gnatcatcher surveys, analysis of off-site pipeline impacts, a tree inventory of significant trees to be removed or retained during develop-ment, and reports for the re-development of pumping and production operations at an approximately 30-acre site Located in the City of La Habra Heights.

ResidentialPardee Homes – Comprehensive Biological Services San Diego County, CaliforniaFor more than 20 years EI has provided biological assessments, permit-ting, and surveys in support of Pardee Homes’ development projects and off-site improvements in San Diego, Riverside, and Los Angeles Counties. EI’s biological services have included surveys on thousands of acres for endangered species and other biological resources, permit-ting, reporting, GIS and mapping.

Lennar Corporation – College Park San Bernardino County, CaliforniaEI prepared and implemented a mitigation program for the approx-imately 700-acre College Park development located east of the City of Chino in San Bernardino County, California. EI completed biological surveys, biological reports, and mitigation plans in support of the project. EI also created artificial burrows and monitored the existing burrowing owl populations.

MunicipalitiesCity of San Juan Capistrano – Bikeway Gap Closure Project San Juan Capistrano, CaliforniaEI prepared and Initial Study (IS) and supporting technical studies pur-suant to CEQA as a requirement for an Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) Bikeway Corridor Improvement Program Grant ap-plication for proposed upgrades to several existing bikeways located throughout San Juan Capistrano.

O’Neill Regional Park Site Native Habitat Restoration Rancho Santa Margarita, CaliforniaEI provided native habitat restoration planning for the 80-acre site. EI’s team surveyed and selected 80 acres for restoration and completed a draft Preliminary Habitat Restoration Plan. EI completed research, surveys, agency coordination, and plan updates. EI improved cost effi-ciencies for planting ratios and palettes, and other requirements, includ-ing water efficiencies, materials expenses, and other considerations.
