During the past few decades Glasgow, the UK’s fourth-largest city, has re-invented itself from a rather economically-depressed industrial-centre to an interesting modern metropolis with a thriving art and culture scene, which has earned it accolades like the ‘European City of Culture’ title in 1990 and ‘City of Architecture’ in 1999! Edinburgh castleEdinburgh Castle is a historic fortress which dominates the skyline of Edinburgh city, from its position on the Castle Rock. Archaeologists have established human occupation of the rock since at least the Iron Age (2nd century AD). There has been a royal castle on the rock since at least the reign of David I in the 12th century, and the site continued to be a royal residence until the Union of the Crowns in 1603. From the 15th century the castle’s residential role declined, and by the 17th century it was principally used as military barracks with a large garrison. As one of the most-important strongholds in the Kingdom of Scotland, Edinburgh Castle was involved in many historical conflicts from the Wars of Scottish Independence in the 14th century to the Jacobite Rising of 1745. It has been besieged, both successfully and unsuccessfully, on several occasions.

As you drive north out of Edinburgh you’ll be amazed by the engineering miracle of the Forth Railway Bridge. Then, as you travel through Stirlingshire, your guide will bring to life the turbulent times of William Wallace - dramatised in the film ‘Braveheart’ - and explain his link to the countryside you’re passing through. Stop at the beautiful city of Stirling, site of the Wallace Monument. You’ll have ample time to explore Stirling castle^ or stroll through the beautiful and ancient streets that surround it.
The tour starts with a modern marvel, the Forth Railway Bridge. As you cross into Fife your guide will tell you about the heroes of Scotland’s past who battled in this ancient kingdom.
Your first stop is the town of Dunfermline. Walk down the beautiful nave of Dunfermline Abbey^, the final resting place of Robert the Bruce, who battled for Scotland’s right to be a nation. Into Stirlingshire you will have a brief stop at the city of Stirling, site of the monument of Scottish hero William Wallace (whose life was dramatised in the film ‘Braveheart’). After lunch continue to John O’Groats where the wi l l be more photo opportunities. Stroll along the cliff-top path at Duncansby Head and take in the dramatic views of sea stacks and the sea itself. Duncansby is rich in birdlife including guillemot, kittiwakes and, its most-famous residents, puffins (until late July). There are binoculars available on-board your mini-coach for a chance for a “close-up” view. After visiting Duncansby, continue southward to Inverness travelling through some breathtaking scenery.

Today drive to Fife crossing the Firth of Forth - there will be a chance to take a photo of famous Forth Railway Bridge.
St Andrews is the star attraction of this tour. As the spiritual home of golf, it is a must-see for all devotees of the game, but it also boasts a stunning beach, great cafes and shops, a beautiful university and an ancient cathedral.
Travel west to Falkland and there will be some time to walk round this beautiful village with its unique craft-shops and houses. There is an option of visiting the Palace^, which has the oldest tennis courts in use anywhere in the world!
Depart Edinburgh and head through Scotland’s bustling central belt to show you Scotland’s largest city, Glasgow. Then it’s on to Loch Lomond (the largest expanse of fresh water in the country) where you will stop-off at the conservation village of Luss for coffee and sightseeing.

Continue to the East Neuk. This is an often-forgotten corner of Fife that has some particularly-beautiful historic fishing villages and coastal scenery.

Continue to Oban where there will be time to explore this Victorian seaside town. Climb up to McCaig’s Tower, take in the views to the Isles of Mull and Kerrera and try some of the freshest seafood you’ll have ever tasted!

day 6 | ancient history of the islesFrom your base in Kirkwall, you’ll spend the whole day exploring the islands. This is a land full of ancient history and you’ll be able to take in prehistoric marvels such as the Maeshowe^ chambered cairn, the world-famous Neolithic village of Skara Brae^ and the brooding stone-circles of Stenness and the Ring o’Brodgar. The tour concludes with a visit to St. Magnus Cathedral. Overnight Kirkwall.
day 7 | home via inverness, culloden and the cairngorms.Today, start with an early ferry-ride back to the mainland. You’ll get the chance to take-in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands. As you head home, you’ll be able to visit the battlefield of Culloden^, the site of the defeat of the Jacobite forces. You’ll also pass the stunning Cairngorm Mountains and explore the picturesque town of Pitlochry.

day 2 | royal deesideToday will be spent in the Royal Deeside area. Visit Fraser Castle, one of the grandest of the Scottish baronial tower houses! The tour continues to Banchory where you may be able to see salmon jumping at the Falls of Feugh. Lunch stop is at Ballater. Continue on to Crathes Castle. You are free to explore the house and the gardens at your own pace. Return back to Ardoe House.
day 3 | scottish castlesTravel to Fyvie Castle near Turriff which dates back to the 13th-century and has a fine collection of arms and armour as well as 17th-century tapestries and Edwardian interiors. Continue onto to Nairn, where lunch will be taken at nearby Brodie Castle. Time to explore the castle further. In the afternoon take the Clan Walk at the Culloden Visitor Centre. The Clan Stone Walkway is designed to commemorate the Scottish Clans and their clansmen who fought at the battle of Culloden. After the visit continue to Knockomie House Hotel. A dinner for the group will be held tonight in one of the private rooms.
day 4 | Whisky region - EdinburghTravel to Kingussie for a photo-stop at the Ruthven Barracks. From here you continue to Dalwhinnie Distillery, which is the highest Distillery in Scotland and takes its waters right from the source of the River Spey. A tour of the distillery is included and you will also have the chance to taste the ‘Water of Life’. After lunch in Pitlochry head to Loch Leven by Kinross. In the middle of the Loch you see Loch Leven Castle, a late 14th-century tower, which was the setting for the most traumatic year in the life of Mary Queen of Scots. Enjoy a short boat ride over to the castle, following in the footsteps of Mary Queen of Scots. Then explore the island and tower house at your leisure, before returning back to Edinburgh.

day 2 | perthshire - aberdeenAfter your Full Scottish Breakfast visit Scone Palace, the family home of the Earl of Mansfield and also the site of the famous coronation Stone of Scone, brought there in the 9th century by Kenneth MacAlpine, the King of Scots. Continue to Pitlochry, a small Highland town. Stop at the Salmon Ladder where you may be lucky enough to see salmon leaping! From Pitlochry, travel towards Braemar. You will take the very scenic & dramatic road over the Spittal of Glenshee one of the highest points in Scotland and also site of one of Scotland’s ski resorts. Descend into Braemar which sits in the heart of Royal Deeside, the favoured holiday area for the Royal Family in Scotland. If time permits, visit Balmoral Castle (open May – July only), home of the Royal Family. Continue towards Aberdeen for overnight in the area.
day 3 | aberdeen – royal deesideTake a trip into Aberdeen. See Kings College, a chapel famous for its woodwork dating from the 16th-century. Nearby is St Machar’s Cathedral. Two notable features are the West Front with its twin castellated towers and the painted wooden Heraldic Ceiling in the nave, dated 1520. Visit Duthie Park and Winter Gardens – a 50 acre park with floral displays in all seasons including a “rose mountain”. Outside Aberdeen, visit Crathes Castle which has royal historic associations dating from 1323 when the Land of Leys were granted to the Burnett family by Robert the Bruce. The castle features some remarkable late 16th-century painted-ceilings. There is a large walled-garden and the yew hedges date from 1702. Return to your accommodation.
day 4 | aberdeen - invernessTravel towards Inverness. In the morning follow the Whisky Trail & visit one of the many famous distilleries in the area. Visit Glenfiddich, McCallan, Grants, Cardhu and many more. Each gives an audiovisual show and then a guided tour of the distillery to learn of the processes and for many, the highlight is a tasting at the end of the tour. The choice of what to see and do in the Speyside area is huge – there are castles – Brodie, Cawdor (made famous by the Shakespeare’s Macbeth), and Ballindalloch. Visit Culloden Moor, site of the last land battle on British soil, wander around Inverness, capital of the Highlands, take the Strathspey Railway from Boat of Garten to Aviemore, watch the Ospreys at Loch Garten. day 5 | inverness – inverewe gardens - invernessEnjoy a day visiting the West Coast of Scotland. Journey across to Ullapool, a quaint fishing-village. These magnificent gardens have a famous rhododendron collection and who would expect to find palm trees in Scotland? Return through the magnificent scenery of the Torridon area and past Loch Maree. day 6 | inverness – loch ness – glencoe – EdinburghToday travel via Loch Ness, which forms part of the Caledonian Canal. Stop at Urquhart Castle, a very scenic spot and also the place where the most sightings of “Nessie” have been. Continue towards Fort William, which nestles beneath Ben Nevis -the highest mountain in Great Britain. Move through the mysterious Glencoe travelling over Rannoch Moor and into the heart of the Trossachs, known as the “gateway to the Highlands”. Stop at Stirling Castle which has played such an important role in much of Scotland’s vibrant history. The Great Hall has recently been refurbished and the Visitor Centre has a audio-visual exhibition explaining much of the history. Return towards the Edinburgh area for your accommodation.
day 7 | EdinburghEnjoy a full day in Edinburgh. In the morning, go up the Royal Mile to Edinburgh Castle, which is the site of the oldest building in Edinburgh – St Margaret’s Chapel and the Crown Jewels of Scotland. Continue down the Royal Mile – take time to explore the many “closes” which run off this street. In the afternoon visit Holyrood Palace, the official residence of the Queen whilst she is in Scotland. The Palace has a wonderful ballroom and staterooms to visit. Visit New Town to admire the Georgian architecture and the well-laid-out streets that are in complete contrast to those of the Old Town. Return to your accommodation.

Drive towards Oban via Trossachs National Park. Trossachs was a favourite destination for Queen Victoria who had a house on the shores of Loch Katrine. The Trossachs, sometimes known as “The Highlands in Miniature”. Stop by Loch Lomond, the largest stretch of inland water in Britain. The landscape of this area has played a significant part in the history and literature of Scotland.
day 3 | oban & isle of mullOban, the “Gateway to the Western Isles”, has been a major port to the islands for centuries. Depart Oban for the Isles of Mull and Iona. Take the ferry across to the Isles of Mull. Cross the island to arrive at Fionnphort, to take the passenger ferry to the small and tranquil island of Iona. Late afternoon, return by ferry back to the mainland. Duart Castle is the family home of the 28th Chief of Clan MacLean and is one of the oldest inhabited castles in Scotland.
day 4 | glencoe valley & fort WilliamThis morning drive to Tyndrum and then via Glen Coe Valley to Fort William. Glencoe is the dramatic and historic glen (valley), scene of the 1692 massacre of part of the MacDonald clan by soldiers of King William. Visit the eco-friendly Visitor Centre which houses fascinating exhibitions about the area, its human and natural history. Continue your journey via Port Appin to Fort William - the second-largest settlement in the highlands of Scotland and the largest town.
day 5 | glenfinnan & isle of skyeDepart for the romantic Isle of Skye journeying towards Mallaig. En-route see the Glenfinnan Monument, the statue of a Highland Chieftain. A short ferry-ride from Mallaig on the mainland brings you to Armadale, the southern tip of the Isle of Skye. Visit Armadale Castle and Gardens Clan Donald Centre, which is housed in a restored section of Armadale Castle, tells the story of the MacDonalds and the Lord of the Isles. The 40-acre grounds of 19th century woodland gardens offer superb nature trails and walks. Continue your journey northwards through the imposing Cuillin Hills to the small fishing town of Portree. The Cuillins of Skye are certainly the island’s best-known feature and though their tops are places only for experienced climbers, there are many viewpoints and island locations where excellent panoramas can be enjoyed. Skye also has other fascinating landscapes, notably around the Quiraing on Trotternish, as well as dramatic coastal features. The Sleat peninsula in southern Skye offers a gentler, greener and more-wooded perspective on the island.
day 6 |dunvegan castle on isle of skyeHead on to Dunvegan Castle on the West Coast of the island. The Castle is the Seat of the MacLeod Clan and during your visit you will retrace the turbulent history over the last 700 years of one of Scotland’s most-famous clans.
day 7 | West coastJourney south to Kyleakin to cross over the new “Skye Bridge” to the mainland enjoying a brief photo-stop at Eilean Donan Castle, the magnificent setting of the “Highlander” film. Visit Inverewe Gardens, the world-famous garden created from once-barren peninsula on the shores of Loch Ewe, by Victorian gardener Osgood Mackenzie. Exotic plants from many countries flourish here from the mild climate created by the North Atlantic Drift. Enjoy the spectacular lochside setting among pinewoods and superb views. Stop at Corrieshalloch Gorge, one of Britain’s finest examples of a box canyon. This dramatic mile-long gorge is 200 feet deep. The river, which carved out the gorge, descends 150 feet at the Falls of Measach. A suspension bridge a short way downstream from the falls was erected by John Fowler (1817-98), best-known as joint designer of the Forth Railway Bridge.
day 8 | outer hebridesAfter breakfast in Ullapool, take a morning ferry to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. On arrival, take the short 20-minute drive to Tiumpan Head, also known as the Butt of Lewis, which is about as far north as you can go in the Western Isles. Standing at the north tip of the Isle of Lewis, it achieves a mention in the Guinness Book of Records for being the windiest place in the UK! Look West from here and there’s nothing between you and North America: look north and it’s open ocean all the way to the Arctic. Here you can visit the dramatic 140 year old light house at the Butt of Lewis and perhaps visit some of the famous Harris Tweed weavers.
day 9 | outer hebridesFirst stop is the Gearranan Blackhouse Village, followed by a stop at the Black House of Arnol. At Gearranan, step back in time to the 10th Century and enjoy being immersed in a bygone era. The Blackhouse of Arnol is a traditional, fully-furnished, Lewis thatched-house that provides a unique insight into island life. There is also an attached barn, byre and stackyard. Beside the Blackhouse, a furnished 1920s whitehouse can also be seen. Enjoy the visitor centre with its interpretative displays explaining the history of the site and locally-made crafts. Continue on to visit the Standing Stones of Callanish which are famous worldwide. These ancient stones have an enigmatic, magical quality that never fails to move.

day 10 | invernessArriving back from the ferry into Ullapool, travel to Inverness to take a city tour. After the Battle of Culloden, the town was ransacked by Cumberland’s army and many atrocities took place. Today, it is an industrial, commercial and cultural centre. Visit Culloden Moor, the site of the battle on 16 April 1746, when the forces of Bonnie Prince Charlie were defeated by English government army, so ending the Forty-Five Jacobite Uprising. Visit the new centre, which includes an exciting, interpretive exhibition using interactive characters that witnessed or were involved in the battle. There are displays of authentic weapons and artefacts found on the battlefield. Visit Fort George, one of the most-outstanding artillery fortifications in Europe! The Fort includes the Regimental Museum of the Queen’s Own Highlanders.
day 11 |speyside & Whisky distilleryVisit the ruin of Elgin Cathedral, which may have been the most-beautiful cathedral in Scotland, known as the Lantern of the North. Founded in 1224, it was burned down in 1390 by the infamous Alexander Stewart, the Wolf of Badenoch, after which it was modified. It fell into ruin after the Reformation. The octagonal chapter house is the finest in Scotland. A Pictish slab lies in the choir. Visit Glenfiddich Distillery, opened in 1887, producing the only Highland Single Malt whisky that is distilled, matured and bottled at its own distillery. Tour the distillery and bottling hall after an audio-visual introduction. Before you leave, you will have the opportunity to taste a sample.
day 12 | royal deeside & aberdeenTake a city tour of Aberdeen, the granite city. It is a maritime city with a story going back to its foundations as a royal burgh in 1124. In olden times, the city had strong trading links with Scandinavia and the Low Countries across the North Sea. Today, Aberdeen’s harbour is a base for offshore oil and gas developments. Aberdeen has one of the most-distinctive townscapes in Scotland, thanks to the use of silver granite, used from the 18th century onward. See Duthie Park and its Winter Gardens, the largest covered display of roses (1 hectare) in Europe and Aberdeen University, one of the oldest in Scotland. Visit Stonehaven, a former fishing village with a picturesque harbour, and Dunnottar Castle, a spectacular ruin 50 metres above the sea and an impregnable fortress to the Earls Marischals of Scotland. The castle was the site for the successful protection of the Scottish Crown Jewels against the might of Oliver Cromwell’s Army. It was also the scene of Zeffirelli’s Hamlet.
day 13 | st andrews & kingdom of fifeStop in St Andrews, the home of the oldest university in Scotland and capital of golf with its famous and prestigious Old Course. The remains of the 12th century cathedral, the largest in Scotland and the medieval layout of the town are still visible. You will also see the 13th century castle overlooking the North Sea, where, during the Reformation, many evil deeds took place in the “Bottle Dungeon”. Enjoy the traditional small shops and the beautiful sea views. Visit Falkland Palace built by the King James V in 1539. It became a favourite retreat of the Stuart Dynasty including Mary Queen of Scots. The gardens contain the original Royal Tennis Court and are the oldest in Britain!
day 14 | EdinburghEnjoy a full day in Edinburgh. In the morning, go up the Royal Mile to Edinburgh Castle, which dominates the Edinburgh skyline. 3 deposits and final paymentsDeposit: A NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of A$165.00 per person for land-only bookings, A$330.00 per person for all coach tours & packaged holidays, is payable at time of placing your booking. In the event where your booking request cannot be confirmed, we will refund your deposit in full.Final Payment: Final payment is due 60 days before your departure date from Australia for all products (except for CIE Tours International products and services) booked with Holidays on Location including packaged holidays with rail travel segments that may remain unconfirmed due to reservation of the same being out-of-range at the time full payment is due. Final Payment for CIE Tours International products and services is due 75 days before your departure date from Australia.
4 single room supplementSingle occupancy of a room by choice or circumstance is subject to the applicable supplement as charged by the service provider.
5 individual rail BookingsA minimum fee of A$33.00 per booking will be levied on all point-to-point European and Canadian rail bookings, and seat reservations .
6 Booking and amendment feesBooking conditions and amendment fees apply to all products and services. PLEASE NOTE: Booking fees are applicable for one-night stays and when no accommodation has been booked with requested service. Prior to document issue: One change permitted without penalty (excludes airline, rail, cruise or other services where an amendment may be treated as a cancellation). Subsequent amendments will attract a fee of A$55 per file, per amendment. An amendment is a change to an existing booking and not a transfer to another tour, where cancellation fees may apply. Correct names: To avoid any possible inconvenience or denial of service. It is important that the booking name given to Holidays on Location is exactly as shown in your passport. Any name, initial or spelling change will incur a fee of A$55.00 per file and if this is required to be made after documents have been issued a A$110.00 per file will apply. Proof of age to qualify for a seniors discount must be evidenced before the booking is confirmed. After confirmation but before document issue a fee of A$55.00 per person and after document issue and if the discount can be secured a fee of A$110.00 per person will apply to change a confirmed booking.
7 late Bookings 7.i Bookings made within 60 daysIf a booking request for all products is received within 60 days prior to departure from Australia, full payment is required at the time of placing the booking. 7.ii Bookings made within 10 daysIf a booking request for all products is received within 10 working days prior to departure from Australia, full payment is required at the time of placing the booking and will incur a fee of A$33 per booking. Please note that certain products booked may incur additional late fees.
8 unused servicesHolidays in Location does not authorize employees of overseas suppliers or service providers to promise a refund to clients for UNUSED SERVICES. All such services unless otherwise specified on voucher documentation issued by Holidays on Location remain non-refundable.
9 invoicesAll confirmed bookings/reservations will be issued with an invoice detailing all services booked and confirmed or in the case of rail sectors PN= Pending Need if such reservation falls out-of-system range. It is the responsibility of the booking agent or the person who has placed the booking on behalf of others to ensure that all details are correct and all related pricing and cancellation conditions have been understood and communicated to all members of your party involved with the booking/reservation.
10 invoice Errors & omissions (E&oE)The right is reserved to correct any errors in rates quoted or calculated for any service notwithstanding that the invoice may have been paid in full.
11 cancellationsShould you or any member of your party be forced to cancel your travel arrangements you must advise in writing your travel agent or Holidays On Location without further delay. The following charges (including GST where applicable) will apply for all except CIE Tours International product and services and other coach tours. If you cancel your reservation 60 days prior to your departure from Australia, your deposit is NON REFUNDABLE, nor can it be transferred or credited to another booking.
Cancellation within 60 days of departure: A- Your deposit is non refundable. PLUS B- Additional charges levied by hotels, rail services ground handling agents or agencies and your Travel Agent up to 100% of the total cost of travel arrangements may not be refundable.
Exception to the rule are charges imposed by Coach Tours, Hiking and Cycling Tours, Rail Packages, Point to Point Rail Tickets related seat reservation charges to any form of Rail Travel and Rail passes where different terms and cancellation conditions may apply as listed below:-

Point-to-Point Rail Tickets:Refunds where applicable, will be paid on a point-to-point rail ticket (except advance purchase tickets, where no refund applies once confirmed) provided the ticket is stamped as cancelled by any rail station in Europe, and is returned to our office prior to date of travel, in the original jacket of issue. Refunds and exchanges are subject to a minimum 25% cancellation fee.
Seat Reservations for Rail Travel:After issue of ticket, non-refundable.
Rail Passes:Refunds where applicable, will be paid if a pass is returned to our office totally unused and unvalidated by a rail station, and in the original jacket of issue. This must be done before the first day of validity of the pass, and within six months of the issue date. Refunds and exchanges are subject to a minimum 25% cancellation fee. Rail Passes cannot be refunded or reissued if lost or stolen.

12 travel documentsAll travel documents (including hotel vouchers) should be handled by the passenger with the utmost care. In general, travel documents will be issued in Australia. In some instances, travel documents will be exchanged on arrival at an International Airport, rail station or at check-in at the hotel. However, if the request for delivery (in case of a late booking) is instigated by Travel Agent or client, a private delivery fee of between A$55.00 and A$165.00 (GST inclusive) will apply, depending on the delivery address. No refund will be processed for unused vouchers. Lost or stolen or destroyed travel documents (rail, transport, theatre, concert, special events, museum, exhibit or sightseeing tickets) cannot be replaced or refunded. Note carefully: Principals will only accept an official Holidays on Location voucher or their own voucher validated by Holidays on Location.
13 Extra servicesHolidays on Location and its associated representatives worldwide, will not accept responsibility nor approve requests to pay for additional charges for extra services requested by clients and not included in our final invoice. It is your responsibility to settle these charges, if any, before departure including parking and other fines or fees incurred when a rental vehicle is used.
14 Extra hotel nights or car rental daysThe special rates shown are available only when booked and paid in advance of your departure from Australia. Should you wish to obtain extra nights or additional days car rental when overseas, the cost will be at the local rates and cannot be booked through Holidays on Location.
15 costs not includedItineraries, packages and products do not include cost of travel from your home town to the city from which you are departing and the destination country you are travelling to overseas. You are also responsible for the cost of your passport, visas, airport taxes, fuel levies, government and local authority charges where applicable, excess baggage costs, insurance and items of a personal nature such as telephone calls, laundry, taxis outside of regular transfers provided, postage and communication costs, drinks, room service or meals, unless specified.
16 changes to prices and itinerariesSelling prices were calculated on exchange rates current as at 1st December 2014. All costs are subject to change at any time by the principals and/or because of currency fluctuations. No surcharges in respect of cost or currency deterioration will be made once full payment for your arrangements has been received. This guarantee does not apply to any taxes, charges or levies imposed by any government or their agencies or to errors or omissions. In exchange for these guarantees, no refund will be made if costs are reduced. The range of products featured in this brochure are offered at the selling prices shown on each page but prices printed do not imply that similar products may or may not be available at a lower price if obtained direct, however, payment sent overseas by travellers is excluded from the protection provided by Travel Agent Licensing and the Travel Compensation Fund. If we are forced to change your booking or part of it for reasons beyond our control, for instance if a European rail service changes its timetable or a hotelier overbooks his hotel accommodation, we reserve the right to vary your itinerary and will give you, or cause to be given to you, notice of these changes and provide you with alternative products or services of a similar standard.

18 room and Bedding guidePrices in this brochure are based on existing bedding in the room. Request for particular bedding arrangements must be made at the time of booking. A twin room can be either a room with two single beds or one double bed (either one double or two single mattresses). Triple room rates can apply to either a full-sized triple room built to take three beds or to a twin/double room with an extra roll-away bed. The provision of hotel rooms is on a Run-of-House basis, unless otherwise specified. Particular room types e.g. interconnecting, twin vs double, can be requested but cannot be guaranteed.
19 childrenCosts vary according to the number of adults, ages of children travelling together, and accommodation selected. We will be pleased to quote on the required arrangements.
20 specified meal servicesMeal inclusions specified in accommodation packages are based on set menus offering a choice of meal options.
21 car rentalEach vehicle is supplied under the terms and conditions of the contractor. Rental inclusions will be detailed on the invoice we provide to your Travel Agent. Specific car types cannot be guaranteed. Rental vehicles cannot be taken into some European countries.
22 hotel check-in and vehicle rentalsValidation of a current credit card will be required by the hotel and hire car companies on check-in/car pick-up. For certain hire car categories, two valid credit cards are required.
23 tours, Excursions & sightseeingThese are provided by motor coach (regular services) and include the services of a tour escort when indicated and/or local tourist guide/s whenever necessary. Both the tour escort and the local guide/s will conduct the tour/s in more than one language. The tour company reserves the right to make changes to the tour programme, without notice.
24 passports, visas, vaccinations and BaggageYour Travel Agent will have full details of current requirements. Holidays on Location is not responsible for advising you of health, visa or passport requirements and is not liable for any loss or exposure incurred by your failure to comply with any such requirements.
25 pre-departure contactIt is essential that you supply us with a contact telephone number where you can be reached, within 24 hours prior to your departure from home.
26 special Events, festivals & trade fairsBookings which run-over special events, festivals and trade fairs, may incur higher prices and cancellation fees.
27 maps and photographsMaps are shown for general information and may not necessarily reflect actual routing, location or services provided. 28 luggageThe luggage allowance for transfers from airport/rail station to city hotel by multi-stop shuttle service, private car or mini-van applicable is 1 suitcase per person, weighing not more than 30kgs, to be stored in the rack provided in the shuttle or the boot of the car. Oversize or additional pieces will not be carried by the booked transport vehicle. In such a case, alternate arrangements must be made locally with the driver, and any additional cost settled on-the-spot. If you are planning to take additional cases with you, please advise us, so that arrangements can be made and the additional fees settled in advance. Holidays on Location will not accept billings beyond the contracted services.
29 travel insuranceTravel Insurance is not included in any of the prices in this brochure. It is a requirement by Holidays On Location that you have comprehensive travel insurance to cover you for the full duration of your journey for costs associated with illness, injury, death, loss of or damage to baggage or personal items, cancellation, loss of deposit, medical and hospitalization, repatriation and curtailment expenses due to illness, the need to return home unexpectedly, evacuation expenses, and accidental death or disability. Your travel agent is the most-qualified person to provide professional advice in obtaining travel insurance. However, your are solely responsible for obtain the appropriate cover as set out above.
30 Booking arrangementsAll booking arrangements are to be made through your Travel Agent and the person making the booking shall be deemed to have accepted the Booking Conditions on behalf of all persons named in the booking. The contract will be governed by and subject to the Booking Conditions and to the general information contained in this brochure. No variation to the Booking Conditions shall be of any effect unless made in writing and with the authority of the directors of Holidays on Location. All communications from us will be sent to your Travel Agent. Your Travel Agent shall, on receipt of any monies, hold such monies for each and every person named in the booking until that booking is confirmed at which time, those monies shall be remitted to us.
31 about costsFor each product or package in Holidays on Location 2015-16 brochures and web pages, included in the selling price are charges to cover costs of research, reservations from travel agents in Australia and from Australia to Europe, postage, courier charges, facsimile, telephone, bank charges, currency transfers, documentation, itinerary preparation, brochure production, printing, brochure distribution, advertising and remuneration to Travel Agents. No break-up of costs is supplied. Receipt of your deposit signifies your acceptance of these normal commercial costs and reservation fees paid to our overseas associates.
32 consumer protectionHolidays on Location is a registered brand name used by Majestic International Travel Service Pty Ltd which holds a Travel Agent’s Licence (No. 30186), is a member of the Travel Compensation Fund (or any consumer protection agency as mandated by Law) keeps all client monies in a separate bank account, and is a member of ASTA, the American Society of Travel Agents and AFTA, the Australian Federation of Travel Agents. All monies received by Holidays on Location are, as required by law, deposited on your behalf into a trust account as client monies in the name of Holidays on Location with the National Australia Bank, our bankers. We will be entitled to keep any interest earned on such monies. It is a condition of confirmation of your booking and acceptance of your deposit in respect of your booking that all monies paid by you to us through your Travel Agent whether by way of a deposit or otherwise in respect of your booking, may be disbursed by us, as and when we see fit or in respect of the services to be provided or fees payable relating to your booking and the payment of a deposit or otherwise for your booking shall be deemed to be a direction to disburse such monies aforesaid. Holidays On Location is a fully accredited member of ATAS (the AFTA travel accreditation scheme).

Holidays on Location and/or its associated companies or agents, do not accept any responsibility for loss or injury to persons or property whether by negligence or misadventure by the principal contracted to provide the products and/or services.
Holidays on Location and/or its associated companies or agents, are not liable for any delays, omissions, irregularities, illness, injuries, strikes, civil disturbances, wars, quarantines, floods or force majeure interfering with, altering, or adding to the cost of the products and/or services booked. Holidays on Location and/or its associated companies or agents, are not liable for any dissatisfaction the client may have with persons or companies providing or offering the products and/or services. The above exclusions of liability are subject to any statutory liability which may not be excluded by law. Holidays on Location and/or its associated companies or agents, do their best to make sure your arrangements are as agreed, however cannot represent or guarantee the standard, class or fitness for purpose of the product and/or service.
Holidays on Location and/or its associated companies or agents, only accept liability for, and only to the extent of, any loss or damage sustained as a result of its negligence or that of its employees. We are not liable for any act or omission or default, whether negligent or otherwise, of airlines, coach operators, shipping and rail companies, hoteliers or other persons providing products and/or services in connection with the product and/or services pursuant to a contract between them and yourselves and over whom we have no direct and exclusive control.
Holidays on Location and/or its associated companies or agents, are not liable in contract or in tort (actionable wrong) for any injury, damage, loss, delay, additional expenses or inconvenience caused directly or indirectly by force majeure or other events which are beyond our control, or which are not preventable by reasonable diligence on our part including, but not limited to war, civil disturbance, fire, floods, unusually severe weather, acts of God, acts of Government of any other authorities, accidents to/or failure of, machinery or equipment or industrial action (whether or not involving our employees and even through such action may be settled by agreeing to demands of a labour group).
It is the responsibility of the passenger to ensure that he or she is in possession of the proper travel documents and that they are in compliance with the current government and transport companies’ regulations. The right is reserved to modify the itinerary in any way considered necessary or desirable or to change any reservation, and/or means of conveyance, without notice and for any reason whatsoever. The right is also reserved to cancel or withdraw any tour, or any booking made for a passenger, or to decline to accept or retain any person as a member of a tour, for any reason whatsoever. No refunds can be made in respect of accommodation and meals not utilised and under no circumstances can refunds be authorised for tours and sightseeing excursions not undertaken.
34 consumer claimsAttempts should be made in the first instance to rectify any difficulties directly with the hotel management, our local representative or supplier. Should any difficulties not be resolved as they occur and you wish to lodge a claim, this must be made in writing with supporting documentation within 30 days of your return to Australia. The claim should be lodged through your Travel Agent.
35 law of contractThe Terms and Conditions published herein are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia, except when federal or other legislation takes precedence.
