Positive○ Play the lottery or buy a scratch off○ Meeting someone new○ Doing something new

Negative○ Cross the street with your eyes closed○ Eating expired cheese○ Ignoring common sense and taking a chance

with safety

○ Have the courage to choose safe behaviors.○ An unsafe act takes a decision

YOU are taking a CHANCE when documented safe practices are ignored.

JUDGMENT Each one of you must use common sense,

judgment and skills learned from on the job experience and training while working for CNP.

Who is our most tenured employee- stand up Who is our newest hired employee- stand up

○ Who is more important○ Who must we count on to lead by example

These two guys and everyone in between must be able to influence each other to strive to pursue a safe

work environment and withstand the pressure to place expediency over safety.

LOOK AHEADWe must look downstream of our actions and consider the outcome- no matter how small.

BE POSITIVEAs an Operation we tend to focus on the end result of unsafe practices.

○ We review the preventability of a vehicle collision○ We review the preventability of an injury

WHY?We don’t conduct these to make fun of

someone- we do them to learn.What would be better than conducting

accident reviews?

BE POSITIVEThis TEAM knows what it feels like to be perfect

for and extended period of time- OVER 2 YEARS!

Let’s focus on how we accomplished this and the feelings of pride each one of you felt as we

accomplished this feat. Be proud of the safe acts you follow through with and share them with your peers- no matter how long they have worked here. We must ALL be

leaders when it comes to safety.
