Waterproof / Breathable Rating

The rating that is used on the Eurohunter Series

that being 5000 or 3000 will determine the level

waterproof/ breathable performance.

If you take an area of fabric the size of a rain

droplet and imagine a rain droplet that is 5000mm

tall on that area. The rug will withstand this level of

water preasure therefor giving you a 5000 rating.

On the other side of this is the breathability of

the rug. The Aquabreathe technology rating is a

measurment of how much water vapor or sweat

to pass out through a square meter of fabric

in 24hrs. With a rating of 5000 it will allow for

5000gm of water vapour

to pass through

the surface.

Icon Guide Fabric Technical Specifications

We have given our rugs a cool rating between 1 and 4 with 4 being the

coolest.

We have given our rugs a warmth rating

between 1 and 5 with 5 being the

warmest.

The higher the denier rating of the outer shell fabric, the thicker and

tougher the fibre is within the fabric.

The weight of the Polyester fibre fill

measured in grams. The higher

the number the warmer the rug.

The fabric is breathable allowing air flow through the

fabric.

Resistant to tearing and damage.

Indicates maximum water resistance of

outer material.

Ballistic Nylon

Ballistic nylon is a thick, tough, synthetic

nylon fabric used for a variety of applications.

Ballistic nylon was originally developed by the

DuPont corporation as a material for flak jackets.

The term ballistic nylon takes its name from

the fact that it was intended to protect its

wearers from flying debris and fragmentation.

Modern applications of ballistic nylon include

the manufacturer of horse rugs and other

products that require a tough durable outer shell.

Oxford Weave fabric consists of two, thin warp

yarns woven into very soft, thicker yarn in the

filling direction. The characteristics of Oxford

Weave is that it is fine, soft and lightweight.

Ripstop fabrics are woven fabrics often made

out of nylon, whilst using a special reinforcing

technique that makes them very resistant to

tearing and ripping. During weaving (thick)

reinforcement threads are interwoven at regular

intervals in a crosshatch pattern in the fabric.

Advantages of ripstop fabrics are the favourable

weight to strength ratio and that smaller tears

and rips cannot easily spread further in the fabric.

Cotton

Cotton is a soft, staple fibre that grows in a

form known as a boll around the seeds of

the cotton plant. The fibre most often is spun

into yarn or thread and used to make a soft,

breathable textile, which is the most widely used

natural-fibre cloth today. The breathability and

lightness of this fibre make it a perfect choice to

blend with other fibres when making horse rugs.

the fabric’s weight, look,

feel, colour or breathability.

Denier Rating

Denier is a measurement that is used to

identify the fibre thickness of individual threads

or filaments used in the creation of fabric.

Therefore a lower denier number shows a

finer material where a higher denier number

represents a thicker sturdier fabric.

Thermal Bonded Polyfill

The Eurohunter 5000 and 3000 series rugs use a

Thermal Bonded Polyfill that will always regain its

original shape or loft when it has been rolled on.

The importance of maintaining loft in conjunction

with the weight of polyfill will determine the

warmth of your horse as air circulates through

the fibre helping to maintain body temperature.
