SD Mines has been named one of the best values in higher education 17 years straight. In an age where many ask if college is worth it, we offer a return on investment that’s hard to beat. Last year 98% of Mines graduates landed jobs at 140 companies in 35 states with average starting salaries topping $63,000. That’s better than Harvard at a fourth the cost.

There are no easy degrees at Mines. We prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century with a rigorous education in a wide array of science and engineering disciplines.

Most make their mark in industry following graduation, while 1 in 5 go directly to graduate school, including medical school.

We expect hard work and lots of studying, but you are not alone. Willing to work? We’ll help you master the material.

CHALLENGING ACADEMICS

Page 4: 2015 Road Piece

At Mines, graduate students don’t teach. Professors teach. With a 14:1 student-to-faculty ratio, our average class sizes are under 20 students.

Through opportunities to study abroad, 13 competitive engineering teams, over 80 clubs, and our signature professional development program – The Mines Advantage – you will have great opportunities to learn inside and outside the classroom.

PERSONAL ATTENTION

Our internship program is second to none. 78% of last year’s graduates had at least one paid internship at 225 companies in 36 states averaging $17.57 per hour. 15% participated in paid research positions. Internships give our students a competitive advantage in the job market.
