All coaches are volunteers and are not paid for their services. Coaches are required to attend a mandatory certification clinic provided by Anne Arundel County Parks and Recreation and have a background screen performed. Coaches are given materials and brief instruction concerning the expectations, duties and responsibilities associated with accepting a coach position. All coaches must attend an introductory coaches meeting or meet with recreation staff prior to the start of each season. We are always in need of coaches/parent volunteers, so if you are interested please let us know. If a concern regarding a coach or their conduct arises please feel confident that your concerns will be heard by contacting Joeleen. 2PracticesTiny: Monday and Wednesday 6- 7 pmMini: Tuesday and Thursday 6 - 7:30 pmPee Wee: Tuesday and Thursday 6 - 7:30 pmJunior: Monday and Wednesday 6- 8 pmAugust - September @ Batts NeckOctober - November @ Bayside Elem.

All practices are held at Batts Neck Park from August through September. October 1st practices move into the gym at Bayside Elementary School. We compete with Recreation and Parks which does have preference over outside organizations therefore at times practices may be held in the cafeteria rather than the gym however it is avoided when possible. Inclement weather does occur when practices are outside. Due to the fact that we are affiliated with Anne Arundel Youth Football we have to abide by the same rules and regulations as their teams across the bridge therefore if their fields are closed we are not permitted to have practice. You can check the status of the fields by checking the piranhas website or the AA county recreation and parks page. In the event of rain, lightning, or impending weather concerns practices may be cancelled. You will be notified as early as possible via phone, email, or text. Please keep in mind weather can come up unexpectedly and the field does not provide adequate protection from the weather so in the event that you drop your daughter off at the field and leave please be mindful and diligent in returning if foul weather does arise. 3Required FormsProof of BirthdateBirth CertificateSchool IDPassportModel Release FormContact Information Form

Please be sure to turn in all forms during the first week of practices. The required forms include a proof of birthdate which is required for all competitions. A copy of each is sufficient, an original is not required. The Model Release Form allows the league to use any pictures we may take for promotional material. The Contact Information Form is used for us to reference in the event of an emergency as well as to provide a brief background of available skills. All registrations included a review of the parent/participant code of conduct which covers all policies. Please be sure that you have reviewed and familiarized yourself with it. All forms can be found on the piranhas website under the cheerleading tab. You can print the forms from the site and return to your coach. 4AttendanceAttendance is a very important aspect of cheerleading for the comfort and safety of the cheerleader and her team.Cheerleaders can only miss 1 practice weekly and still be eligible to cheer at the following game, unless approved by the coach.Cheerleaders can only miss 2 practices within the 3 weeks prior to a competition to be eligible to compete.

While we understand that issues arise which may prevent cheerleaders to miss practice such as illness and family/school obligations, we also stress the importance of dedication, prioritizing, and responsibility and hope to impart the importance of these traits through their participation in cheerleading. We encourage the girls to understand that there is a team that depends on them and that they are only a part of the large puzzle that makes up their team. When they are not present their pods are unable to practice stunts and their team is unable to completely practice routines. Attendance stipulations are stressed to encourage this team mentality and ensure success for all participants. 5UniformsUniforms issued include a uniform shell and skirt. All uniforms must be returned following the season clean and unaltered. A bow is also issued and yours to keep. Additional bows can be purchased.Accessories include a white crop top, silver briefs, and sneakers as specified on the accessories flyer. All accessories in hand by August 15th. Tiny, Mini, and Pee Wee Nike Sideline II Junior Chasse Ace Sneaker

All uniforms will be issued following the first two weeks of practice. There will be two uniform issue dates. Uniforms are issued on a first come, first serve basis. All uniforms are your responsibility to keep clean throughout the season. Uniforms can be worn to all games and to school on Friday in support of the games. Please remind students wearing them to school to be careful at lunch and recess. Uniforms will be collected at the end of the season by coaches and during a uniform return date (TBD). There is a $100.00 fee that will be assessed to anyone that does not return a uniform or who returns a uniform in an unacceptable condition. Accessories and the bow is yours to keep. The accessories flyer details where items can be purchased. There are very limited supplies in local stores so it is recommended to purchase the items online. There is no partnership between the league and any of the identified retailers. 6Warm-UpsGTM Warm-ups OPTIONAL2 price points: one warm-up jacket with glitter print, one fleece jacket with glitter print, and warm-up pant. All orders are placed online and paid directly to GTM then delivered to your house. http://teamstore.gtmsportswear.com/Piranhas

We are offering warm-ups for purchase again this year. These warm-ups are completely optional. Last year we attempted to order them as a team and due to the amount of time it took for order placement and production resulted in last shipment which is why we are ordering individually and directly online. This allows you to make your payment and order today if you would like. Last year we went with rhinestone embellishments on the back of the warm-up jackets which increased the price significantly. The only difference between the warm-ups from last year and this year is that the rhinestone embellishments were replaced with glitter print to reduce the price. If you purchased a warm-up last year, there is no need to purchase again they are exactly the same. 7GamesWeekly games, Saturday or SundayCheer squads are paired with their respective football team based on age.No away games only home games.Schedule comes out last week in August First game is usually Labor Day weekend.

Each weekend in September and October there will be a game on Saturday or Sunday. There are some weekends where squads may not have a game due to the fact that their age group has away games. We only cheer at home games at Batts Neck Park, we do not travel to away games. The schedule is given to us from AAYFA and therefore we are at their mercy for when we are able to distribute the schedules. We are typically given the game schedule the last week of August or at the end of the week before and then have a very quick turn around to get it to you. The first game is usually held Labor Day Weekend. All girls are expected to cheer at the games as our primary mission as a recreation cheerleading league is to provide sideline cheer. In the event of inclement weather or field closures your coach will notify you. 8Snack ShackPlease support the snack shack and Piranhas by volunteering your time.Sign up with your Team Mom for a time slot either before, after, and/or during a scheduled game.

Please remember that we are only supported by registration fees and fundraising. The only way we can keep registration costs low is by offsetting costs with fundraisers such as the snack shack and spirit wear. We ask that parents volunteer a minimum of once per season by working in the snack shack however encourage help as much as possible. Please sign-up with your team mom for a time slot either before, after and/or during a scheduled game.9HomecomingMore information will be forthcoming High School ParadeFriday afternoonParent volunteers needed for decoratingTrailers needed to decorate: 1 per squadPep RallyParent volunteers needed to direct players and teams Volunteers needed to help decorateHomecoming Games/CelebrationParent volunteers needed to help decorate, work in snack shack, run activitiesBasketsParents are needed to help Team Moms gather money and/or donations

Homecoming is a very exciting and busy time and we will need your help to make it a success. It starts with the high school homecoming which is not typically the same weekend as our homecoming. We will need car trailers to decorate, 1 per squad, to pull in the parade. We will also need parents to volunteer to provide decorating supplies and time to decorate. This event is typically Friday afternoon. You will be contacted to ask for help. The next event is the Piranhas homecoming. It kicks off with a Pep Rally where all players are introduced and run across the field. It is often coupled with a homecoming court and spirit competition. We will need parents to help with decorating and directing teams to their respective areas. This is followed by a fun filled homecoming day of football games at the field. This too requires lots of support from parents in the way of volunteering in the snack shack, offering to run a stand such as face painting, moon bounce, spirit signs etc. Along with homecoming, we also have one of our largest fundraisers, the themed baskets. Each squad is responsible for deciding on a basket theme, i.e. family game night, tailgate, etc. From there they collect money to purchase items to put in the basket or solicit donations from area businesses. The baskets often go for anywhere from 150.00 to some as high as 600.00+ dollars. Since this is an effort for the league to raise funds the sky is the limit. You will hear from your team moms to assist in this effort. 10

CompetitionsNovember 1st: College Park November 15th: Harford Community CollegeTBD: Hopefully it will be in AA County through Anne Arundel Youth Cheerleading Association. Waivers need to completed electronically. All fees have already been paid through your registration fee. Attendance is IMPORTANT

We have 3 competitions, with the exception of the tinys which only compete in one. The competitions will be as described above at those locations through Cheer and Dance Extreme. The third competition is to be determined however we are hoping it will be through AAYCA as these are local recreation cheer teams that we see at the games. For the first two competitions waivers will be sent to the email you submitted on the piranhas website. It is very important that you complete these waivers online. You will get an email notifying you that the waivers have been sent. Please contact me ASAP if you do not receive the link or are unable to open it. While at the competition we need to sit together as a league to support our fellow girls. Often they have spirit competitions in conjunction with the day for those teams that are most spirit filled through their dress, volume, and overall encouragement of the sport. The coaches will notify you of how to style hair and what, if any, makeup should be worn. The routines for these competitions are designed specifically for the number of girls on the squad without alternates therefore attendance is extremely important!! If one girl is missing the entire routine will be impacted. Please arrive early to all competitions to allow for traffic. 11Thank You for ComingQuestions???
