Welcome to the 2015 N.D. Red Angus Select Sale. We have another outstanding set of females to offer again this year. Jeff Thomas selected all of the consignments and we have a very high-quality set of bred and open heifers, as well as some very exciting embryo and semen packages. This is a great opportu-nity to purchase some of the northern region’s top genetics to advance anyone’s program.

Red Angus is showing unprecedented growth as a breed and in popularity among commercial producers, feeders and packers alike. Red Angus heifers are still bringing a premium over most other heifers being sold this fall.

Again this year we are happy to share the sale day with the N.D. Simmental Association’s State Sale that will follow the Red Select Sale. While each breed is maintaining its own identity, we think it refl ects the cooperative effort of the two breeds’ national collaboration. We also think this will be a tremendous opportu-nity for buyers who utilize both breeds.

I would like to thank Jeff Thomas for his tremendous job of cattle selection and for managing this year’s sale. I would also like to thank the entire board for all of their work through out the year. Thanks also to Tracey Koester of Cow Camp Promo-tions for a great job of advertising and catalog design.

We are pleased to welcome Gary Fike, RAAA director of com-mercial marketing, to our annual meeting and banquet. Gary will discuss the marketing programs, the new Strategic Plan, producer meetings and the FCCP. He will also be available to answer members’ questions.

At catalog print deadline, there were still several open heifers with pending registrations. As the RAAA transitions to the new REDSPro database, there has been a backlog of workgroups. The RAAA staff continues to work overtime to get new cattle registered, and these heifers’ registration numbers should be available by sale day. For catalog purposes, we used parental average EPDs as noted. We will post registration numbers and EPDs at ndredangus.com prior to the sale and include this information on a supplement sheet.

Plan to join us on Friday at 2 p.m. CST at the Baymont Inn (formally the Seven Seas of Mandan) for our annual meeting, social at 5:30 p.m. and banquet at 6:30 p.m. The Red Select Sale starts Saturday at 12:00 p.m. CST sharp.

It has been a pleasure to be involved with the development of the 2015 N.D. Red Angus Association Red Select Sale. The members of this association are seriously committed to offer you cattle and genetics from the top of their programs. The programs presenting this offering host some of the top production and bull sales in the land so take advantage of them sharing the female base of their program with you.

Last year was the fi rst year the NDRAA and N.D. Simmental Association presented both sales on the same day, and it was an impressive venue. There was an overfl ow crowd for both events; which supports the testament of how well the two breeds of cattle and breeders can work together!

There has never been a better time to be involved in the beef industry! The cow numbers are at an all-time low and we are continuing to see record prices for feeder calves. Commer-cial producers all over the country are searching for top-end genetics to use in their programs to take advantage of the times. As seedstock producers you will fi nd the offering of this sale provides the source for those top-end bulls and females that will assist you in providing those genetics to your customers.

If you are looking for bred heifers to produce bulls for the commercial and seedstock industry, this offering has a lot of opportunities for you. The open heifers in the offering have some outstanding show heifer prospects for Junior pro-grams – there will be something to fi t your needs that will make tremendous cows as they develop.
