PauloMelo PortugueseDentalAssociation

My motivation to be re-elected for the "Public Health Committee" relies in the

willingness to continue the tasks that I’ve been involved during these last 3 years

and bring new ideas and projects.

The interaction between the members of the Committee and with the Council is

essential for achieving the best performance and results. As vice-chair in the last

year I found myself as a good team member capable of working for the group

benefit.

Now I feel I can use my 3 years’ experience to enhance the Committee role in FDI,

to propose new projects and settle the ones that are on, with the involvement of

the new members.

Participating in some of the most important projects of the PHC and FDI was a real

challenge and a very enthusiastic task.

Within PHC I’ve been actively involved in the WDDF project, analysing together with

Kevin Hardwick all the proposals that were presented and preparing a new

submission form with the purpose of making it easier for the applicant and for the

reviewer. The next step will be to give more visibility to this project in the FDI site.

At the same time, as was my intention, I’m trying to have an application from

Mozambique.

Also as a member of PHC I was nominated as expert for the “Brush twice a day”

project, together with Jo Frencken. We’ve been participating actively in the project

in a Workshop held in Istanbul and prepared to all participants a protocol and a

common data sheet together with Virginie.

Bringing up new ideas, I’ve recently submitted the project “Oral Health Promotion

and Prevention Worldwide toolkit” that I hope it will be very useful and of great

efficacy on spreading a better Oral Health throughout the world.

Let’s make it even better!

Paulo Melo, PhD
