2015 NGFFL Proposed Rule Changes There are five changes to league settings/scoring, laid out on page 1, and two changes to league scheduling/structure laid out on page 2. League Settings/Scoring 1) Tiebreakers in the standings will now be assessed according to "Total Points For" rather than Head-to-Head. Last year's system was stupid and confusing, and was inconsistent with the playoff system. By making this change, all standings are based primarily on W-L record, then on Points For. 2) Passing touchdowns will now be worth 4 points, as opposed to the 6 from last year. This change is to align the league with accepted standards, and to keep QB's from being overpowered. 3) Punting and Kickoff return touchdowns will now score 6 points for the individual player AS WELL AS the DST he plays for. Special teams should be rewarded as a whole when they pull off a touchdown, but it's lame to not acknowledge the individual player that ran it in. 4) A bunch of changes are being made to DST scoring: a) The DST will now score 1 point per sack. b) The DST will now score 1 point per forced fumble. c) The DST will now score 1 point per 10 yards returned on kickoffs and punts. d) The DST will now score or lose points based on yards allowed. Less than 100 - 5 pts 100-199 scores - 3 pts 200-299 scores 1 pts 300-399 scores 0 pts 400-449 scores -1 pts 450-499 scores -3 pts 500 or more scores -5 pts 5) A bunch of changes are being made to kicker scoring: PAT made: 1 pt PAT missed: -5 pts 0-19 yd FG made: 1 pt 20-29 yd FG made: 2 pts

2015 NGFFL Proposed Rule Changes

There are five changes to league settings/scoring, laid out on page 1, and two changes to league scheduling/structure laid out on page 2.

League Settings/Scoring

1) Tiebreakers in the standings will now be assessed according to "Total Points For" rather than Head-to-Head.

4) A bunch of changes are being made to DST scoring:a) The DST will now score 1 point per sack.b) The DST will now score 1 point per forced fumble.c) The DST will now score 1 point per 10 yards returned on kickoffs and punts.d) The DST will now score or lose points based on yards allowed.Less than 100 - 5 pts100-199 scores - 3 pts200-299 scores 1 pts300-399 scores 0 pts400-449 scores -1 pts 450-499 scores -3 pts 500 or more scores -5 pts

5) A bunch of changes are being made to kicker scoring:PAT made: 1 ptPAT missed: -5 pts0-19 yd FG made: 1 pt20-29 yd FG made: 2 pts30-39 yd FG made: 3 pts40-49 yd FG made: 4 pts50+ yd FG made: 5 pts0-19 yd FG missed: -4 pts20-29 yd FG missed: -3 pts30-39 yd FG missed: -2 pts40-49 yd FG missed: -1 pt

League Schedule/Structure

1) For schedule last year we ran:Weeks 1-11: each team plays each other team onceWeek 12: Rival Week Week 13: Prove your worth Week (2 vs 3, 4 vs 5, etc)Week 14-16: PlayoffsThere were some problems with that regarding placement for the playoffs and whatnot, the schedule is being changed to the following:Week 1: Revenge Week (play against whoever you played in week 16 last year)Weeks 2-7 and 9-13: each team plays each other team onceWeek 8: Rival WeekWeeks 14-16: Playoffs

2) Last year we ran as a basic "redraft" league. This year we will be making the transition into being a 2 "Keeper" league with a 2 round penalty. Because this is the first year, this year's draft will be unaffected. No players can be kept from last year, draft will function exactly like last year's did. The change will be relevant because of the way your decisions this year will affect next year.

At next year's draft, you will be able to "keep" up to 2 players that were on your roster at the end of the previous season. For each player you keep, you will lose your draft pick 2 rounds above the round they were drafted in the previous season. A "kept" player is not available to the rest of the league during the draft. For all following years, a player is considered "drafted" in the round where they were kept.Example: If you drafted a rookie in the 11th round this year, and he ended up being awesome, you could keep him in the 9th round next year and in the 7th round the year after that.Example 2: Someone else drafted a player in the 4th round this year but dropped him midseason because of an injury. If you picked him up and he was on your roster at the end of the season, you can keep him in the 2nd round.

Players that went undrafted can be kept in the 10th round the following year.

If you're following the math, that means that only players drafted in the 3rd round or later may be kept. Also, players drafted in the 13th-15th round have an advantage over undrafted players in the keeper system. Just some things to think about.
