MEC Tournament Notes...• Eight teams will arrive in Charleston, W.Va., to vie for the 2015 Mountain East Conference Tournament title.• The University of Charleston is the tourna-ment’s defending champion. • Four teams received byes to the quarterfinal round: regular season champion West Liberty, Fairmont State, Concord and Charleston.• West Liberty brings the league’s best win-ning streak into the tournament having won 11 in a row. Concord is riding a six-game winning streak, and the Mountain Lions and Wheeling Jesuit are each 8-2 in its last 10 games.• WJU and Notre Dame are each 2-0 on a neu-tral court this year.• The quarterfinals will be played on Friday, March 6, the semifinals will be played on Satur-day, March 7, and the tournament will conclude on Sunday, March 8. • The MEC will provide a live video webcast for all games at the Charleston Civic Center on MountainEast.org. Additionally, the games will be broadcast on the radio via MetroNews and West Virginia Radio affiliate stations.• The media-only live stat link for all games at the MEC Tournament is: http://mec.statbroadcast.com• The MEC All-Tournament team will consist of eight players, including the Most Valuable Play-er. The team will be selected by members of the media and the MEC office.

... More MEC Notes• Five teams from the MEC were in the top 10 in the NCAA Atlantic Region rankings released on Feb. 25. West Liberty is ranked first and has the inside track to host the NCAA Atlantic Regional, while Fairmont State is sixth, Concord is eighth, Glenville State is ninth and Wheeling Jesuit is 10th.• Livingstone (CIAA) is not currently, but will be ranked among the top eight in the final rankings by earning an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament by winning its league’s tournament championship.• Fairmont State has the third-toughest sched-ule in the country according to NCAA.org. Its opponent’s winning percentage on the season is .583. • Several MEC schools excelled in non-confer-ence play as WLU went 5-0, while Charleston, Concord and Wheeling Jesuit went 5-1.• As of March 2, the Mountain East Conference had the highest scoring average of any league in NCAA Division II with 78.89 points per game.

• Not only is Seger Bonifant the active leader in career three-point field goal percentage (54.5), but that percentage would also be the NCAA Division II career record for a player with a mini-mum of 200 made threes. The current record for career three-point field goal percentage is 51.3 set by Scott Martin of Rollins from 1988-91.• After being picked tied for 10th in the pre-season poll, Concord vaulted all the way to third in the final standings. The coaches successfully predicted West Liberty to finish first and second, respectively.
