Higher Education has offered the opportunity to fantasize the adverse effects a built environment has upon human interactions- applying those ideas into how the space may enhance a user’s cognitive state within its enclosure. This cultivated my interests of clashing patterns and textures, while developing forms that transforms the normalcy of any given space into a living and breathing machine. The idea of producing a space that is philosophically

endowed is less driven by the matters of utopian ambitions, but rather from the act upon my own instinct to create challenging and interesting spaces.

this goal motivates my ambitions to express freely to the world my imagination of interior possibilities.

If the works of nature live, and if the creations of calculation move and produce activity

in us, it is because they are both animated by a unity of the intention which isresponsible for them.

Hotel Lobby Design

First Design Project

I Focused on creating an environmental solution that offered a surreal

experience with large graphics / odd furnishings and loud colors. I considered

the graphics to be a medium that was interchangeable to meet the promotional

needs of the hotel. Here is where I began to explore the dissonances of

environmental design.

Pavilion Design

Architectural Project

The Attention was placed in attracting people into the space and away from the mayhem of reality. The design solution makes most of its environment by maximizing views while maintaining a playful interaction with its surroundings. The space attempts to challenge its patrons’ perception by meaning to be their

new ‘third place which may offer them ‘moments’ in life.

Record Retail DesignThe design is situated within a local mall and works at redefining the ideas of a mall based retailer. It thrives on nostalgic elements that allows the retailer’s products to maintain a sense of relevancy to its present time and location by building upon the irony of its interior elements.

Theater Scene Design

Here was an opportunity to work on a space that was different from the others. The plan had to be detailed

with exaggerated traits that conveyed a specific scene while maintaining

a sense of simplicity to avoid from overwhelming the audience’s attention

from the act of the play.

This project focused on delivering a design solution that resonated a Norwegian charm. it contains abstract moulding forms that replicate the culture’s rich symbolic essence, it uses simple contrasting elements to allow the decor to speak its heritage, and lastly it maintains an open atmosphere that reminisces the expanse of an open lake before a large Norwegian hill.

The space accommodates the ideals of homeliness by using local materials that bases itself upon the city’s history. It finds inspiration in Old Jaffa Port. A mostly neutral palette that’s tagged with daring splashes of color, plays on the elegant nature found in the middle east.

This office space finds its inpiration from the curvatious lines found in nature. ITs ideals are based upon the goal of offering a work environment that is consistently perceived as something “new”, The Design knows that the employees are constantly distracted and so it attempts to formulate a way that harvests those inclinations by converting them into efficincies

for the company.

The work space had to present itself as something unique in

order to accomplish its goal. The interaction that the space and its

hosts engage in provides for an essence that comforts the busy mind while also encouraging its activeness in ways that should produce desires for efficient

dialogue and for a quality built work circuit.

First Level Floor Plan

Designing an assisted living space presented an interesting

challenge. The solution focuses on a design that reflects the

space as a new step of identity for its residents, by pulling

from a palette found in nature I used curves / textures, and

patterns that subtly influences the occupants into seeing the

world anew.

Extended Stay Patient's RoomThis project was an attempt at concealing aspects of the patient’s room in order to convey an experience that transcended its technicalities. Theoretically, this should provide for the resident some essences relevant to homeliness. This idea is completed with an LCD wall that plays various modes of visuals- landscapes to personal photos. Bringing together a palette of the patient’s inspirations and therefore offering them some visual stimulation of hope,

Headquarter Office DesignFor this project I was presented with the challenge of creating a 10k sqft office space that addressed a list of evidence based design problems. the end result mimics the intricate layers of nature as a way to present itself as a primitive facility where communication is key. It’s also a creative inspiration for its employees, by way of its intricate line work and its structural components. the space sees itself as a world within a world from another world.

Personal Pod

Designs

These desk pods are targeted towards the grunt working

employees, providing for them all the amenities that their uppers receive while maintaining an affordable

budget. The wool fabric that covers the convex provides

for an acoustical barrier. the form also offers the employee

a perception of privacy and separation, encouraging their

focus to maintain within their area. This solution also

establishes a defined territory for the employees.

A major component to this design is the cascading ramp that connects the multiple levels. This aspect

of a “seamless” experience is what breaks the barrier of the typical hierarchy system while still

maintaining the importance of order. The path way mimics a hiking trail where its terrazzo flooring and luscious plant life act as its natural elements. This offers opportunity for the employees to achieve an

active lifestyle within the facility / to create unique dialogue opportunities and to experience the company

at large- perceiving its essence.

Page 29: 2015 Interior Design Portfolio

Headquarter Office DesignThe lighting of the facility was crucial. The desire to encourage the

employees into seeing the working environment as a world all of its own maintained the importance of offering an atmosphere in the evening that

carried on this notion, even dramatically so.

Nulu Empire Theater

This Project focuses itself on creating a cultural hub within a historically significant building site found in one of Louisville’s

trendiest neighborhoods. Its purpose is to offer the neighborhood a quick eatery / a diverse and eclectic cafe and movie theaters- indoor and

Nulu Empire TheaterThe importance of the conditions and aesthetics of the worker’s environment as well as the prevalence of the brand’s identity

worked side by side. Since the facility is a multiple purpose site it was able to acquire many different identities. this then provided

the facility with an extra facade which takes advantage of the pedestrian alleyway.

Elevation through cafe area

The cafe shop uses large amounts of soft and sound absorbing materials to maintain the major acoustic issue that may arise in the space during its busiest of hours. The incorporation of eclectic and intricate elements allows for this action to be possible subtly and dualistically. the shelvings act as an acoustic barrier as well as a display for sellable products. The eccentric patterns appropriates the business of the shelf which includes a patterned fabric background. All particulars work together to ensure the best atmosphere in the cafe.

Window DisplayRed Tree Home

Furnishings

During my time at the university, I had the free-range opportunity to manipulate a local Louisville furnishing retailer’s window display. Here I had practiced ideas of how to communicate the various identities that the retailer’s rustic furnishings could adopt. Some moments were focused on a more direct relationship where as others attempted convey a rather artistic conversation. During these moments, the window display took the position of a blank three dimensional canvas. It was a great practice at seeing a personal vision fruition into physicality.

Dream House ProjectTadpole

This project takse a turn at developing a conceptual dream home. The home builds upon the hopes of a nomadic lifestyle that takes advantage of current technologies and the ambitions of its owners. Stemming off the initiatives of

current autonomous cars, this dream home presents a space that is seen as a utility where home is the world in its entirety and Tadpole- named after the larval amphibian, as the

beholder’s tool.
