It started by riding paddle surf shapes down the river, and realizing “we’re gonna need a

bigger boat.” Bigger was just the first piece of the puzzle - it solved stability, and enhanced the inland

paddling experience, but didn’t allow us to maneuver quickly enough.

For 4 years, we have been prototyping shapes and rocker profiles, finding the perfect blend of

stability and agility that we call our Progressive Shape Inflatables. From flat water to whitewater to river

surfing to beach surfing, you will feel the design differences that make Hala inflatable SUPs

Hala’s Rocky Mountain headquarters gives us a unique angle for designing paddle

gear. Whether stomping big whitewater, doing yoga with friends, or surfing and touring

We use and abuse every piece of equipment we make, and we spare no

expense to make sure your Hala Gear lasts. We use unbreakable fins and fin boxes,

triple reinforced D-rings, and the highest quality drop stitch and PVC.

Innovation is key, and we love to push the limits. Our versatile designs open up

new ways of paddling your water. The Butterknife and optional kayak seat allow you

to explore the water in your own way, and the plentiful rigging points let you load up to

cover the miles.

Drop Stitch

The material used in Hala boards is the highest quality PVC and highest thread count drop stitch, making our boards tough and amazingly rigid. Inside each board, thousands of strings connect the top and bottom deck, allowing the board to maintain its shape.

Rocker Stiffening Stringer

Every Hala board features a rocker stiffening stringer.This material is fixed to the board to maintain the progressive rocker profile, increase the stiffness, and allow the board to respond immediately (eliminating lag time) when steering from the stomp pad.

Unbreakable Universal Fin Box

Hala boards come with an unbreakable universal fin box and a flex fin, so you can use any surf fin you like.Unbreakable means you can lend it out or let the kids take it with no worries.

Flexible, Unbreakable Fins

The removable center flex fins are made of 100% TPU, and allow you to choose fin configurations based on the water you paddle. The side bites (2 or 4) are fixed to the board, and are unbreakable and flexible. Go wherever you want – these fins can handle it!

Hala PSI (Progressive Shape Inflatables)

Hala’s Progressive Shape Inflatables are the result of extensive R&D. We carry the progressive rocker through the entire board while incorporating increased tail rocker. This makes our boards more responsive and more playful, allowing them them to turn, surf, and maneuver better, while making them more fun!

FiberliteTM is a material made of continues long-strand carbon fiber or fiberglass. Fiberglass shafts have higher impact strength than carbon fiber shafts, are less expensive than carbon, more flexible but weigh more.

Carbon/Fiberglass Blend Shafts

The blending of the attributes of carbon and fiberglass produces a shaft with moderate flex. The idea of this is balancing the positive characteristics of each material, producing a comfortable shaft with good energy transfer.

Carbon Shafts

Carbon shafts have the highest strength to weight ratio, producing the stiffest shaft, which translates into high energy transfer during a paddle stroke.
