Sixth Annual Dallas, NC HCRB Meet
Special Pictorial Issue
From the Editor
Hi HCRB Builders & other readers,
I guess we were very fortunate in having fine weather for the Dallas, NC HCR Meet for five years. It was bound to change sooner than later. This year’s weather did not cooperate as in the past. Knowing on Friday morning of the 70 – 80% chance of rain predicted for Saturday’s car show, the decision was made to do a condensed version on Friday morning along with the Obstacle Course planned for later that day. As in previous meets, Friday morning numbers were issued to the Members that had brought their carriages and the carriages were lined up for the show. In past meets, the Friday mornings are usually spent in a “Meet & Greet” format mostly for the Members discussing their various set ups in drive trains, painting methods, trailers and other topics involving HCR carriages. Even though the amount of spectators was less on Friday, we did manage to receive enough votes to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place winners.
While the condensed version of the car show was going on, my wife Elaine and Daphene Peach (wife of the late Jim Peach) collected votes from spectators and the guy’s helped set up the cone markers for the afternoon’s Obstacle Course. The course was run and winners determined later in the afternoon.

The HCRB Group was well represented with Members from nine (9) states. We wound up with thirteen (13) carriages and one (1) tractor replica. This year we were only plagued by a few things, the worst was the rain on Saturday, others were one carriage was hard to start cold (yours truly), one shear pin failure and two flat tires, all taken in stride. The tractor replica (very well done) was built by Louie Frick and was well received by the other Members and spectators alike...
