David Bruton, President of The SNU with

‘A Message for Everyone’.

The Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre is proud to welcome , Minister David Bruton to The Centre.

David Bruton is, of course a medium in his own right, as well as being an excellent speaker,

tutor and demonstrator with over 37 years experience in Spiritualism. He will be conducting a week-end workshop in September called, ‘A Message for Everyone’. It looks at the key skills of public pres-entation, drawing on our link with the spirit to enhance the construction of prayers, addresses, giving talks and other areas of public speaking. This course will be especially useful to anyone currently studying the PAS Scheme, or CSNU or DSNU qualifications, as well as anyone who is required or aspires to give public talks within Spiritualism or in the wider world.

The Course takes place on 19th and 20th September, from 10am - 5pm both days. The course pro-

gramme discusses and develops the ‘theory’ on the Saturday as it encompasses the theory of giving

philosophy and public speaking and gives tips and advice on handling the nerves when giving a

public address, working with an audience or congregation etc. The Sunday is the day when the the-

ory is put into practice not only by the delegates but by the tutor too, as the programme will incorpo-

rate the Sunday Service which David will be conducting. This has been specially arranged to allow

delegates to see the theory put into practice, followed by the opportunity to assess and analyse the

performance based on the training given the day before! David really puts himself on the line here!

A great opportunity for those currently undertaking platform work to share and develop their experience together and better present the message of Spiritualism.

Trance Healing—Module 2 with Steven Levett

Steven Levett is a young medium who has been working for over 10 years now with Gordon

Smith, helping run his workshops and courses both in the UK and abroad. Stephen has carefully

The Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre and The College of Intuitive Studies are proud to announce that internationally renowned Spiritual

Teacher & Psychic Medium Gordon Smith will be once again presenting his Foundation Course, here, in Edinburgh, in 2016.

The Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre has been chosen as the only Scottish Venue to host this prestigious training programme and

following the success of the 2014 and 2015 programmes, we are delighted to announce dates for a new intake of students for the

new class of 2016! The first weekend will take place on Saturday and Sunday 5th and 6thof March. Places are limited and are filling

fast.

Gordon, on creating this innovative programme says, “whilst I deliver various training courses throughout the UK and abroad,

because I have to travel so much these courses have tended to be stand-alone, one-offs - and this has frustrated me, for as most

students of psychic and mediumistic studies will know, this subject requires a more consistent, cumulative approach. So, I’ve created

my College of Intuitive Studies which offers a modular-based training programme, that delivers both consistency of approach and

allows the student to clearly assess their own progress as each module builds on the learning from the previous one.”

Gordon’s Foundation Course is open to all levels of students and is the beginning of his 5 module-training program that he has

specifically designed and teaches to students all over the world. Presented by Gordon and assistant teacher Steven Levett students

The Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre to extend its offering of Courses and Demonstrations to

The South of England, indeed to ‘that little bit of heaven’ in The New Forrest!

Training will take place in Brockenhurst in the centre of the New Forest where you may pass ponies and donkeys in the

streets. Brockenhurst has a private training room and ample free car parking. It is 5 minutes walk from the mainline train

station and village centre and 15 minutes from the M27 giving easy access from all regions. There are many B&Bs and hotels

in the area - full list can be supplied - all within walking distance or a

short drive. The village has a range of pubs, bistros and restaurants. A

perfect place to get away from it all and to enjoy a spiritual haven with

your fellow delegates. The forest is literally around the village so plenty

of opportunity to interact with nature. Guided forest walks can also be

arranged.

Doyle Centre with his Mediumship Masterclass.

Mediumship is ever evolving in harmony with eternal consciousness, therefore the accessing,

presenting and phenomena of this craft evolves too, in order that we meet the desire of spirit and

the spiritual needs of the public too.

Following the resignation of John Blackwood as a Trustee of The Palmerston Trust to concen-

trate on his business career, we are delighted to announce the appointment of a new

Trustee to take up the vacated position.

Janet Handley CSNU had a business career in Commerce and Finance and was in

Senior management in Manufacturing and Retail before joining an International

firm of Management Consultants specialising in Strategic Planning and Manage-

ment of Change. She then set up her own company working predominantly in the

City before taking early retirement and moving to 'her piece of Heaven' in the New

Forest.

She now applies herself to her passion - training and facilitating people in their

spiritual development and her healing work. As a working medium she serves

churches in the South of England as well as other parts of the UK, Europe and

South Africa.

She is a Trustee of the SNU Trust and a member of the Southern District Council of

the Spiritualists National Union. This appointment of Janet as a Trustee, enables

The Rev. Stewart Lamont was born in Broughty Ferry and educated at Grove Academy

and St Andrews University where he served as president of the Union.

He began work with the British Broadcasting Corporation in the religious broadcasting

department producing and presenting first radio, then television programmes, and in

1980 began a 20-year spell as a columnist and religious commentator in The Herald in

Glasgow.

Rev. Lamont began a series of ministry appointments which took him from Brussels to

Gibraltar, where he spent six years, and other locum ministries in the Presbytery of

Europe, finally settling back in Scotland in the parish of Arbirlot and Carmyllie, in Angus.

Author of several books, among them an expose of Scientology and a biography of John Knox. More recently he took to writing

fiction. His first thriller ‘Hollow Rock’ featured terrorists taking over Gibraltar and the sequel ‘Bermuda Gamble’ is set in

Bermuda. But, he is probably best knows for making a TV series for BBC Scotland called, ‘Is Anybody There?’ It aimed to in-

vestigate the paranormal but the TV crew got more than they bargained for when they caught actually footage of the Enfield

Poltergeist in action! Come and hear Stewart talk about his experience in Enfield and see the actually footage.

its first Death Cafe. This is an initiative of

Maddie Denton, (pictured).

Maddie is a fourth year student at the

University of Edinburgh, studying for an MA

in Social Anthropology. She is looking to

get people talking about death, and to

change the perception of death as a taboo

in modern Western society. You are invited

to attend for free tea and cake.

In accordance with Death Cafe's principles, our Death Cafe will not

have any information-giving or speakers. At a Death Cafe the discus-

sion is always led by those who come along. Death Cafe is not about

leading people towards any product, conclusion or course of action.

Death Cafe is not a bereavement group, nor group therapy, but simply

an open arena to discuss the greatest taboo in our everyday lives.

The Cafe is free, but donations are accepted. 2pm—4pm.

built as the home of William McEwan, of The Fountainbridge Brewery—and, The Best Buy in Beer!
