In!all!your!dealings!with!the!Eisteddfod!remember!that!most!of!the!work!is!done!by!volunteers!in!their!spare!time.!

If!you!feel!the!Eisteddfod!could!be!improved!we!encourage!your!constructive!suggestions!or,!better!still,!your!involvement.!

Rules)of)Competition!)

Before)the)Event!

1 Music!or!scripts!for!the!Adjudicator!must!be!handed!to!the!Music/Script!Supervisor!at)least)30)minutes)before)the)start)of)the)event.)Competitors!who!fail!to!do!so!may!be!disqualified.!

2 The!TITLE,!COMPOSER/AUTHOR!and!the!COMPETITOR’S!NAME,!EVENT!NUMBER!and!COMPETITOR!NUMBER!must!be!clearly!visible!on!the!music!or!script.!

3 Adjudicator!copies!must!be!accompanied!by!a!completed!Copyright!Form!No.!2.!Copies!made!for!the!accompanist!must!have!a!completed!Copyright!Form!No.!5!attached!to!the!music!during!the!competition!performance.!

4 Entrants!must!only!perform!in!events!applicable!to!their!age!unless!an!event!has!no!age!specified.!Age!is!determined!as!at!!Tuesday,!May!19,!2015!

5 A!‘novice’!event!is!for!competitors!who!have!been!learning!for!18!months!or!less.!

6 A!‘restricted’!event!is!for!competitors!who!

have!never!previously!won!1st!prize!in!any!eisteddfod.!

7 Unless!stated!otherwise!the!competitor!shall!select!pieces!to!be!performed.!

8 A!competitor!shall!not!perform!the!same!item!in!more!than!one!event!during!the!Eisteddfod.!

9 A!competitor!must!not!repeat!any!item!performed!in!a!previous!Armidale!

Eisteddfod!until!three!years!have!passed.!

10 Open!Duet!events!are!for!amateur!performers!only.!

11 In!the!case!of!a!teacher!performing!with!a!student/students,!the!entry!shall!be!of!a!non4competitive!nature.!

12 Ensembles!may!apply!to!the!Committee!for!approval!to!compete!if!a!few!members!are!late!learners!and!exceed!the!age!restrictions!by!no!more!than!18!months.!

13 The!committee!reserves!the!right!to!combine!or!cancel!sections!if!insufficient!applications!are!received.!

During)the)Event!

14 Unless!performing!from!memory,!all! competitors! must! perform!from!the!original!copy.!

15 The!order!of!events!may!be!changed!at! the! discretion! of! the! Committee!or!Coordinator.!

16 The!order!of!competitors!within!an!event!may!be!changed!at!the!discretion!of!the!Committee!or!Coordinator.!

17 Competitors!not!answering!their!names!when!it!is!their!turn!to!perform!in!an!event!may!be!disqualified.!

18 Under!special!circumstances,!the!Coordinator!may!allow!a!competitor!to!perform!out!of!session!order!of!the!event.!He!or!she!will!receive!adjudication!but!no!placing.!

Time)Limits!

19 String!sections!for!12!years!and!under!have!a!time!limit!of!4!minutes.!

20 Where!there!is!no!stated!time!limit,!the!adjudicator!reserves!the!right!to!terminate!a!competitor’s!performance!at!any!stage.!This!does!not!mean!disqualification!or!disapproval.!

21 Time!limits!in!all!events!must!be!strictly!observed.!A!warning!bell!may!be!rung!when!the!time!limit!is!reached.!A!further!bell!may!be!rung!15!seconds!after!the!finishing!time.!At!this!point!the!competitor!must!leave!the!stage.!

22 If!a!time!limit!is!not!observed,!the!adjudicator!has!the!right!to!disqualify!the!performance.!

Judging)and)Disputes!

23 The!Adjudicator’s!decision!in!accordance!with!the!rules!is!final.!

24 Where!equal!places!are!awarded!any!prizes!for!that!place!are!to!be!shared!between!award!winners.!

25 The!Adjudicator!has!the!authority!of!the!Committee!to!terminate!a!performance!if!it!is!considered!offensive!in!any!way.!

26 Only!authorised!persons!may!approach!the!Adjudicator!during!the!eisteddfod.!

27 Performers,!teachers,!accompanists,!family!or!audience!members!MUST!NOT!approach!the!Adjudicator!at!any!time.!

28 Protests!shall!be!lodged!with!the!Committee!and/or!Coordinator!in!writing!

within!30!minutes!of!the!cause!of!complaint!and!must!be!accompanied!by!a!deposit!of!$10!which!shall!be!forfeited!if!the!protest!is!deemed!frivolous.!

29 The!Committee!shall!be!the!sole!judge!of!disputes!and!its!decision!shall!be!final.!

30 For!all!events,!photocopies!for!the!Adjudicator!must!be!accompanied!by!a!completed!Form!No.!2,!and!photocopies!for!the!accompanist!must!have!a!completed!Form!No.!5!attached!to!the!music!during!the!competition!performance.!Further!explanation!of!copyright!is!provided!in!the!section!Rules!&!Regulations!of!the!website!and!the!necessary!forms!can!also!be!obtained!from!the!website.!All!photocopies!are!destroyed!by!the!Eisteddfod!Committee.!

31 All!video!recording!and!setup!must!be!discreet!and!behind!the!Adjudicator’s!desk.!It!must!not!in!the!sight!lines!of!either!the!audience!members!or!the!Adjudicator.!
