2015 Annual Report The Time is Now 1120 Fairgrove Church Rd SE, Suite 28 | Hickory NC, 28602 | 828 322 1447 | www.ALFAinfo.org We are now in an era where the end of HIV/AIDS seems within grasp. New medications allow people to live longer, healthy lives and radically reduce risk of transmission to others. We now also have medication that prevents transmission to HIV negative people. Borrowing the theme of 2015 World AIDS Day Now is the Time. Now is the Time to invest in education, support and access to healthcare to bring an end to HIV/AIDS. It is within our power to make the HIV/AIDS epidemic only a memory. We face 2016 with a strong start, and renewed hope, as demonstrated by our agency’s new vision statement: Ending stigma and barriers to care for a future free of AIDS Medical Case Management ALFA’s medical case management program connects HIV positive clients to essential medical services quickly, provides linkage to housing, affordable medications, emergency utilities assistance and a food pantry. All of these services are vital for stabilizing a client and keeping them in care. HIV Testing ALFA offers free and confidential HIV testing in our office daily, and at 29 non traditional testing sites across our service area. Awareness Events With help from countless volunteers, ALFA hosted Not Your Mama’s Bingo, Hike For Hope + 5k, Dining For Friends Finale, Winter Gala, World AIDS Day & Volunteer Recognition Dinner. Community Support ALFA is eternally grateful for the support we receive from Catawba Valley Medical Center, which in 2015 included a new van to transport clients to medical appointments! Legacy Award This year it was with great appreciation that we presented the Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams Legacy Award to Tony and Karen Rose, stalwart supporters of HIV services and ALFA. Tony and Karen Rose accepting the Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams Legacy Award Volunteers preparing a mailing Hike for Hope runners start the 5k Many thanks to CVMC for ALFA’s new van ! Friends  of  ALFA,

Thanks  to  the  many  individuals,  businesses  and  foundations  that  supported  ALFA  through  donations  of  time  and  money,  2015  was  a  record  setting  year.  ALFA  delivered  record  numbers  of  services  to  the  community,  blasted  through  fundraising  goals,  and  expanded  our  financial  base  with  several  new  grantors.  We  also  were approved  to  begin  Hep-‐C  testing,  purchased  another  van  for  client  medical  transportation,  and  we  were  able  to  make  the  part-‐time  Medical  Case  Manager  full-‐time.    Most  exciting,  ALFA  exceeded  all  state  set  goals  in  regards  to  client  outcomes!    Region  II,  ALFA’s  Region  of  Care,  not  only  scored  above  state  goals,  but  set  the  lead  for  the  entire  state!

Thank  you  for  your  support  of  ALFA.

Martha  Gantt  CFO/COO
