2015 Alumnus of the Year - Research or Academia Nomination form

Eligibility

The Alumnus of the Year - Research or Academia recognises alumni whose research is making a real impact in their community or to the world.

To be eligible for consideration the nominee must be a graduate of The Australian National University (ANU) living in Australia or internationally. This includes ANU graduates who are current or former staff of the University.

Who can make a nomination?

Nominations in all categories can be made by an ANU alumnus, ANU staff member, current ANU student or a member of the public. Self-nomination is not allowed.

Nomination requirements checklist

Nominations must include the following:

Completed official nomination form including the full details of the nominator and the nominee

A response to selection criteria (max 1,000 words)

A current CV/bio of the nominee

A current colour headshot (high resolution .jpeg)

Accepted file extension types are .doc, .docx, .pdf, .jpg, .zip, .gif

Conditions of nomination

> Nominations must be received by midnight (Australian Eastern Standard Time) on 31 October 2014. Late nominations will not be accepted.

> Alumni can only be nominated in one award category in the same year. > The selection panel reserves the right to relocate nominations between categories based

on the field of nominees. > Nomination forms and supporting documentation must be completed and submitted in

English. > Previously nominated alumni who were unsuccessful in winning an award may be re-

nominated. > Award recipients and nominees may be acknowledged in media publications.

Presentation of award

> 2015 ANU Alumni Award recipients will be announced on 2 February 2015. > The 2015 Alumnus of the Year - Research or Academia will be awarded at the ANU Alumni

Awards Gala Dinner on Saturday 28 March 2015. > If recipients cannot attend the Awards Dinner, the University will endeavour to make

alternative arrangements for presentation and celebration of their achievements. > The selection committee’s decision is final. Feedback on nominations will not be given.

Selection criteria (Please respond to the selection criteria in a word document and submit with the nomination)

In no more than 1,000 words, please explain why you think the nominee should be recognised as the 2015 Alumnus of the Year - Research or Academia. In doing so please address the following in a word document submitted with the nomination:

1. Evidence of developing innovative research that addresses global or communityissues.

2. Evidence of research that displays a high level of innovative thinking in its approachand conclusion.

3. What impact has the nominee’s experience at ANU had on their career andachievements?
