This class is designed to help the massage therapist learn techniques to prevent burnout. In this class, you will learn specific suggestions for: scheduling, stretching, exercise, and communication skills. We also give specific information on client care and quality environment set up, geared to give your client the best professional, high-quality experience possible.

This course links fundamental Eastern medicine concepts to the diagnosis and treatment of disharmony and disease. The course first covers the basic concepts of this medicine and how it relates to human health. Building on this foundation, students learn the significance of signs and symptoms of disease.

MAS-225-71 Therapeutic Sensory Applications II (Foundations of Aromatherapy) Credits: 2 Date: Saturdays, 3/14, 4/11 Sundays, 3/15, 4/12 Time: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Instructor: Adam Travia Prerequisite: MAS-215 Required Text: Aromatherapy for Bodyworkers Description: This course follows Level I Aromatherapy education guidelines (set by the National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy) for practicing aromatherapy on friends and family. Top-ics include basic chemistry of essential oils, aromatic blending, essential oil pathways into the body and integration of therapeutic sensory applications with bodywork. Safe and responsible use of essential oils is emphasized.

Unlike the traditional academic approach to Anato-my and Physiology, this course will provide a more practi-cal and sensory-based experience, in which four days will be spent locating and identifying the qualities of muscles, tendons, bones, and ligaments.

MAS-261 Pathology for Massage Therapists Credits: 4 Dates: Tuesdays, 1/27 - 5/12 (No Class: 3/17) Time: 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm Instructor: Xavier Harvey Prerequisites: MAS-200, MAS-209 Required Text: Massage Therapist’s Guide to Pathology Description: This course gives students an appreciation of the mechanisms that generate pain, as well as the transmission, perception and control of that pain. Students learn to assess the signs and symptoms of various diseases and disorders. Students will have the opportunity to formulate a massage plan and remedial exercises for spe-cific diseases and physical disorders.

Submit your registration form via email, fax, mail or in person by Wednesday, January 14th.

Late registration occurs on Wednesday, January 21st.

One week prior to the first day of class, you will receive a registration confirmation email.

If the enrollment is low, a class may get canceled one week prior to the first day of class.

If you have an outstanding balance from a previous semester, you will not be able to register until it has been satisfied.

Students will learn Five Element Theory as well as the meridian system. Specific conditions will be looked at and as-sessed. Students will also learn how to assess the pulse and tongue to build better clinical skills.

Students learn to execute classical yoga postures and study their benefits and contraindications. Vinyasa, advanced postures, pranayama, yoga nidra, meditation, yoga history and philosophy are explored in relation to teaching methodology and wholistic living. Students will have the opportunity to deepen their own physical and spiritual journey as well as learn how to teach and assist in a variety of clinical settings.

Chair Yoga Techniques for Yoga Teachers Tuition: $85 Date: Sunday, 2/1 Time: 9:00 am - 3:30 pm Instructor: Lisa O’Brien Hours: 6 Description: This clinic is designed for the teacher who wants to delve more deeply into the possibilities of using a chair in yoga practice. Specialized instruction for the elderly, the fearful and the physically compromised stu-dent will be provided. Detail and focus will highlight proper alignment, sequencing, breath, movement and communication skills. Partner practice will reinforce new techniques and skills.

Kundalini Yoga and Chant: Kicking Up the Fire Within Tuition: $60 Date: Saturday, 2/21 Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm Instructor: Michelle Carlino Hours: 4 Description: Kundalini yoga is a powerful technique for healing and transformation. Designed specifically for householders, kryias, chant and asana produce fast and effective results. Kundalini yoga is the other of all yoga which raises the kundalini (inner fire) resulting in a stronger nervous system and hormonal balance bringing the body into a state of vibrancy while maintaining inner calm and focus. Deep meditation kryias will be included to improve concentration and cellular repair. Chants and breathwork will be incorporated bringing ancient sounds to increase and balance our internal vibration to support maximum health and energy.

Knees and Hips In Asana Tuition: $60 Date: Saturday, 2/21 Time: 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm Instructor: Michelle Carlino Hours: 4 Description: This workshop will address the proper alignment of knees and hips in a variety of different asa-nas. Anatomical alignment and positioning will be exam-ined; as well as therapeutic techniques for preventing and dealing with injuries.

Creative Vinyasa Flow: Practicing With Your Teachers Tuition: $60 Date: Saturday, 5/16 Time: 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm Instructor: Barbara Moeller / Nita Spielberg Hours: 4 Description: Are you looking to bring new life and energy into your vinyasa practice? Come to have fun and to ignite new fire into creative flow as you work with two veteran teachers of vinyasa. The two-teacher concept will allow you to receive strong instruction, as well as appropriate alignment support. Traditional vinyasa will be the foundation as we move into new, creative, and exciting pathways of yoga flow. Students may repeat this program as new material will be intro-duced.

A Day of Mindfulness and Meditation Tuition: $85 Date: Sunday, 5/17 Time: 9:00 am - 3:30 pm Instructor: Michelle Carlino Hours: 6 Description: Through this day, students will experience the attitude of mindfulness within various activi-ties. These will include: sitting meditation, walking meditation, mindful eating, and various types of breath meditation. We will discuss the basics of meditation and how the practice of mindfulness can enhance our lives on all levels.

Un-tie the Knots: The Art of Twisting For Teachers Tuition: $60 Date: Sunday, 3/8 Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm Instructor: Nita Spielberg Hours: 4 Description: The twist can be utilized as a therapeu-tic modality for spinal balance and for optimal health for the digestive and endocrine systems of the body. In this comprehensive workshop, students will dis-cuss the anatomy and physiology of the twist. Differ-ent theories of sequencing for twists will be discussed and explored as well as an introduction to some of the more advanced twists in asana practice. This course may be repeated for further reinforcement and practice.

The Breath of Life Tuition: $60 Date: Sunday, 3/8 Time: 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm Instructor: Nita Spielberg Hours: 4 Description: This is an opportunity to delve deeper into the psychophysiology of how breath supports optimum health and vitality. Principles of ayurveda and pranayama will be explored through posture and pranayama clinic and partner work. Sequencing to address preparation for pranayama as well as specific therapeutic issues will be discussed.

The Five Tibetan Rites Tuition: $60 Date: Saturday, 5/16 Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm Instructor: Barbara Moeller Hours: 4 Description: Originating in the Himalayas, the five yogic exercises known as The Five Tibetans were first introduced to the west by a retired British army of-ficer who learned them from the wise lamas of Tibet. It is reported that regular practice of these basic yogic exercises tunes and balances the chakras, relieves muscular tension, enhances physical strength, im-proves digestion, strengthens the cardiovascular sys-tem, and fosters mental clarity. In today’s study, par-ticipants will learn to perform The Five Rites and to explore ways to integrate them into a vinyasa yoga class.
