That is why it is so important not to look ahead in this league.Weneedtotakeitonegameatatime.” Fueled by four returning starters, Ozarks’ roster includes size, speed and outside shooting ability. Ramsey expects the competition for playing time to befierce.“Everyonehasachancetograboneofthefivestartingspots,”hesaid.“Noonecanbecomecom-placent.Iexpectittobecompetitive.” Ozarks returning starters include All-Conference performers Ashley Hipps and Bryanna Moltz. Hipps, a senior point guard, was Honorable Mention All-Con-ference, while Moltz earned Second Team honors. Guard Madison Sherrer was named to the Confer-ence All-Freshman Team. The versatile 6-foot-2 Moltz produced a breakout season her sophomore campaign, ranking fourth in the conference in scoring (14.6), fourth in rebounding (8.0),seventhinfieldgoalpercentage(38%),thirdinthree-pointpercentage(35.5%),fourthinthree-point-ers made per game (2.0) and second in blocks (2.4). “To be 6-foot-2 and step outside and shoot the ballisagreatassetforourteam,”saidRamsey.“Shehas tremendous range. Sophomore forward Tyler Adams started in 17 games a year ago and averaged nearly fivepointsandfivereboundspergame.Sophomoreguard Macie Kultgen played in all 26 games last season.

“Madisonisaworkhorse,”saidRamsey.“Shebrings a lot to the table with her intensity. Macie plays extremely hard and Tyler produced a solid season.” Ramsey would like to see his team’s defense and rebounding improve throughout the season. “Ourdefenseneedstoimprove,”hesaid.“Itisanongoing process. A lot of the kids we are counting on haven’t played a lot of man to man, so we are teaching technique. They need to compete hard every day in practice in order to compete hard in games. In the last few years, we have been at the bottom in offensive rebounding. We just don’t under-stand the importance of getting that second and third shot. We have no excuse with our size and the quicknessofourguards.”
