From the President ~ Dear Members & Friends, Spring has arrived and now we get to enjoy one extra hour of daylight! I especially enjoy the way everything begins to bloom and seems to awaken and turn green. Spring ha arrived in our Gift Shop as well; please stop by and see how beautiful it looks with all our new merchandise. I would also like to wish you all a Happy Easter/Passover holiday. May you enjoy the holiday with family, friends and wonderful food. The March General Meeting included a presentation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) called “Age Well - Drive Well”. We were given many safety tips about driving as we age. This was really quite well done and the information presented was very useful. A brief question/answer period followed. Thank you to Elizabeth Keshishian for arranging this program for us. I want to remind all of you that there is NO General Meeting in April. We will come together, however, on April 10 to enjoy the wonderful Volunteer Recognition Luncheon at the Odyssey. Hopefully, you will all be able to attend. Our May General Meeting will be held on Monday, May 18 in the Hale Penthouse. Note that although we usually meet on the 4th Monday of the month, in May that is Memorial Day, so we are making the exception. Please mark your calendars accordingly. The program for that meeting has not been firmed up, so we will report on that in the May newsletter. At our May meeting we will elect and install officers for the 2015 - 2016 year as well as present a new budget for the coming fiscal year. The list of nominees for the Auxiliary Board was presented at the March General Meeting and is listed elsewhere in this newsletter. I recently attended the Dignity Health Board Chair Forum in San Jose, the focus of which was human kindness. I was amazed and touched by so many wonderful stories about our patients, employees and volunteers. Dear Members & Friends,

Spring has arrived and now we get to enjoy one extra hour of daylight! I especially enjoy the way everything begins to bloom and seems to awaken and turn green. Spring ha arrived in our Gift Shop as well; please stop by and see how beautiful it looks with all our new merchandise. I would also like to wish you all a Happy Easter/Passover holiday.

Northridge Hospital Auxiliary Newsletter - Page 2 April 2015

As we embark on Dignity Health Northridge Hospital’s 60th

Anniversary, we have exciting news to share. Thanks to our outstanding

Medical Staff, employees and volunteers, Northridge Hospital has been

ranked as one of America’s Best 100 Hospitals in the United States by Healthgrades - a national healthcare ratings organization.

America’s 100 Best Hospitals are the top 2% of the hospitals in the

nation for exhibiting Clinical Excellence for four consecutive years. We were

also named on of the 100 Best Hospitals in the U.S. for General Surgery,

Pulmonary Care, Gastrointestinal Care and Critical Care, plus many

additional nationally recognized clinical achievements.

America’s Best Hospitals is Healthgrades highest distinction, which we

received by exhibiting exceptional, comprehensive and consistent quality

year over year. Simply put, patients are more likely to have a successful

treatment without major complications - and an increased chance of

survival - at America’s Best Hospitals.

We are announcing our wonderful award this week through

advertisement in the Los Angeles Times, L.A. Daily News, Ventura Blvd.

Magazine, Warner Center News, San Fernando Sun and a banner on our

website NorthridgeHospital.org.

Congratulations to everyone for this outstanding achievement.

WAGGING TAILS SPRING

Spring can’t come to the phone right now.

She’s flown to distant hills

To dabble speckles on a fawn

And fling out daisy spills.

When she re-mosses forest floors

And pulls back Winter’s pall.

She’ll batten down the daffodil

And then return your call.

To teach the Wren her little song

Will take an hour or two.

Striping birches lasted awhile,

So wait and she’ll call you.

You’ll know when April comes again

She’ll cause your heart to leap.

Just close your eyes and listen

To her message at the “beep”.
