Aiming to be Secure in Year 3 objectives by the end of the year (Walls)

More focus on word choices, impact on reader, themes across books, and poetry.

Reading

Children need to try and read at least once a day.

Children need to read at least 10 pages 5 times a week.

They need to get their Homework Diary signed when

they have read.

I will check every week.

They will have a Reading Journal task to do at home

every week.

Reading Journals and reading books need to be in school

every day.

More focus on accurate use of grammar and punctuation, handwriting, presentation, planning, editing and reviewing, and choice of vocabulary.

Writing

Reading Journal weekly task will be a writing task.

It needs to be written and presented as though it is a

class task.

Pencil/ blue or black pen only.

Weekly spellings – new lists –Y3/4 as well as rules and

patterns they need to understand and use.

They have a sheet to complete daily in class and daily

at home.

Tested on a Friday once a week.

More focus on written formal calculations, application to different types of problems, mathematical vocabulary,

applying skills to much bigger numbers.

Weekly My Maths task or homework activities

will be set by the class teacher Times tables
