HCS Transformed?! (Romans 12:2)With a 9% increase in enrollment, the 2015/2016 academic year saw Heritage Christian Schools settle into a new home for the Middle/High School and consolidate the Elementary School onto one campus. Considerable refreshing, remodeling and renovating had to happen at both campuses prior to the first day of school. Walls were painted, new flooring was laid, offices were constructed, landscaping was planted, lockers were installed, and the parking lot was sealed. Clearly, physical transformation took place, but only as a means to an end. The real ‘end’ was to create an environment where our students could be “transformed by the renewing of their minds”. Many opportunities were planned by faculty, staff and parents to renew students’ minds. Weekly chapels were held at all levels of the school, often featuring guest speakers. Theme days, a science fair, and concerts were planned, practiced and presented. Our students performed excellently on Terra Nova standardized tests, matching last year’s record high levels (the average student’s composite score was at the 80th percentile nationally). Our high school robotics program won state championships in both Wisconsin and Illinois. The Heritage Players put on engaging productions of It’s a Wonderful Life and Fiddler on the Roof.

Students Transforming…Consider Elijah from the Class of 2026. He is on the path of transformation, becoming an intelligent young man of God. Now, think about Saira from the Class of 2017. She’s nearing the end of her transformational journey at Heritage, having traveled the path that Elijah is just starting. The preschoolers pictured on the cover are even earlier in their trek. All other students featured are somewhere in the midst their transformation, but each of them is pointed at the same destination: becoming servant leaders for Christ.

Like all annual reports, this publication is a review of what has happened. But, hopefully, you’ll also see it as a preview of what’s to come in the lives of HCS’ students and the Kingdom of God. In the meantime, we’ll thank the Lord for His amazing provision and give Him the glory!
